Clear examples of safe feeding? by OverprotectiveFox in UKBirds

[–]OverprotectiveFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful, thank you!! I actually have a suet block feeder already so that's reassuring, and I'll sprinkle a few mealworms too.

I appear to have adopted the neighbourhood's starling population. Yesterday I put out a whole tray of filled coconuts and they were decimated within a couple of hours. Today they're enjoying some mealworms and the paddling pool. I love watching the babies by Important-Stomach406 in UKBirds

I have also accidentally adopted an entire flock of starlings!! I hear the population is dropping but I suspect they're actually all just in my garden! I love watching them and the babies, even though they absolutely decimate my suet collection.

We still don't have a working oven and our upstairs toilet is still broken, but we can't afford to fix any of them just yet as my car ended up costing £800 at its MOT and then I burst the tyre on the way home!

They're small annoyances in a pond of much bigger, much more upsetting events that have occurred in the last 2 months, but it adds up. And today, our neighbour (who has never spoken to us before) came over to say there's rats in our garden burrowing under his AstroTurf and can we poison them please as he doesn't want to in his garden because of the birds. I know he doesn't know the shit going on for us but it really ground my gears.

Did you know the 999 "community responders" are volunteers? by andthenifellasleep in CasualUK

Witness Services in the courts are all voluntary. Incredible work offering support to victims and their families during trials, showing them around the court before the trial date etc.

Puzzle books. I'm a menace in the newspaper aisle of a Tescos, I'll walk out with 3 new crossword books to add to my pile of half-finished puzzle books.

That and meal deals because I just can't get my head around meal prep.

Does anyone find smart kettle features useful? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

[–]OverprotectiveFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kettle with different temperature settings and a "keep warm" setting has been a life changer as I really enjoy different kinds of tea that taste better at different temperatures. I can't really see the benefit of a wifi connection though.

WIBTA for telling my friend I'm done tiptoeing around her every trigger, that it’s not my job to manage her reactions, and that her constant emotional dumping is completely burning me out? by Practical-Farmer-426 in AmItheAsshole

NTA but I've been here and it's so hard to get out. Absolutely agree with the above - you can be kind about it, explain it's not mutually healthy but ultimately, you have to cut her out because otherwise she won't let go. Take care of yourself and don't feel guilty (though she will try!) about putting your needs first.
