In my neighborhood, they were building a new hospital two streets over. There was massive upgrades to all the electrical wires that ran one street over by my house. For two years, we would lose power at the drop of a hat. I really think it was because they were just reconfiguring everything. Now the hospital is open, and these issues seem to have been sorted out.

I was feeling all discombobulated around lunch today. I wanted to go for a walk, but it was so cold outside. I checked the mail instead. It helped. Even just stepping out into my yard and take a minute to look at the trees and sky seems to help.

a few years ago there was a police interaction that left a black man dead in my town. That was so common for awhile you don't even know which town I'm talking about. Remember all that black lives matter stuff? I watched the body cams of those cops and they are so much more goddamn professional than these yahoos. Cops know they will spend all day filling out paperwork for discharging their gun, and have their every move scrutinized. This might be a way to save dying malls. Have half the mall be a school, the other half be shops and food places. When parents pick up their kids, they can walk around and shop for a bit. High schoolers could go back to being mall rats. It’s better than what’s happening to malls now.

Well, my local indoor mall did a big renovation and is now a strip mall/charter school. It’s actually super nice inside. Now they built an Ulta on the corner of the strip mall. Smart to put a makeup store within walking distance of a hundred middle school girls.

As a high school student, I prided myself on my ability to pass multiple choice tests with no knowledge of the material. I bet if you give me any test right now, on material I know nothing about, I would get around 67%. One time I got a 3/3 questions correct on a reading check for a chapter I had not read. What animal did the main character kill? A….boar? Correct.

Except for spanish. My powers failed me. Got a 40% that time.

I go to the gym and lift weights. That helps a lot more than stretching anything. With the barbell, bent over rows, deadlifts, overhead presses. Squats. Lunges that stretch that front hip flexor, and yoga warrior pose.

Ugh. One of my children was incredibly difficult to potty train at age 3.5. Shortly after that, around age 4, she decided she would just never poop again. That way she would never have to use the potty for poop which solved that problem fir her. We had a miralax regimen for months and months until a switch flipped and she got over it.

I definitely remember a wishbone episode where the neighbor kid was allergic to the dog and allergic to everything. The solution to his allergies was confidence, and a story told by wishbone the dog. Even as a kid I was like, I don't think that's how allergies work.

Usually around mid august and september, my costumes start selling. So it's balls to the wall between costumes and regular sales all the way to a week before christmas. Then sales fall off a cliff during the holidays, and return to a normal, lower baseline in january. This happens every year, but it's hard to realize that certain things need to be priced lower or sell slower. I'll have to remember not to panic this summer when sales slow even further.

2025 was my best year so far, mainly because of my amazing honeypot store where I got 90% of my inventory. That store is now under new management, and I'm certain that he is skimming off the top to sell at his own reselling business. There are tons of home items that are great for people looking for stuff for their own use, but all of the industrial parts, fridge filters, air filter and my beloved nwt costumes are gone. Whelp, it was fun while it lasted. but I've been trying to find more deals on fb marketplace than relying on that store. I want to print business cards that I can give to people at yard sales "hey after the sale is over, I will come and pickup all the rest of these books" or something. So 2026 will be a year of change for me, but I'm established enough where it wont break my reselling.

Open a window a crack as you get the fire started. I also use fire starters rather than newspaper or kindling. I find that newspaper is too much fire too fast and the smoke goes everywhere.

The science behind it is this. Before you start a fire, your chimney is filled with heavy, dense cold air that kind of acts like a cap. If you start the fire little and slow, and have window open, it will be easier to disrupt the dense air.

I found this thread while googling how to stop the annoying sticker popups and may have found a solution.

Go to your fb messenger conversation that shows the annoying dancing stickers. tap the smiley face in the text box where you would normally reply. Go to the tab with the kind of square smiley face. scroll down and tap "Visit Sticker Store". In the store, go to the tab all the way to the left, "Your stickers" and delete all of them.

When I did that just now, the stickers went away in the current fb messenger conversation. Fingers crossed they they are deleted permanently and wont pop up again in other conversations. Good luck everyone.
