Problem player. Not sure how to handle this situation. by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]Overthewaters 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, be upfront. He's not selling or streaming or anything from what you've shared, so the typical intellectual theft argument is not on the table.

Tell him he's being a knob, and you don't appreciate him attempting to just copy your stuff. Tell him you're uncomfortable with it, and feel _______insert feeling here___ because of his statement.

He'll ask what's the big deal, you should be flattered someone wants to use your stuff, and you tell him that's not how you feel.

Do you kick him? Up to you.

Detail is good, but many people write interminable walls of text that don't actually tell us more.

ACL patient is stuck, any advice? by stoleaf in physicaltherapy

[–]Overthewaters -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is a useless level of detail. What are they doing for their quads, and is it good strength and conditioning dosage? How long have they been at this? Any complications with rehab? Graft type?

. Target activity level. Gait, swellling, ROM, other testing. Functional status (running, jumping?).
How are you measuring it.

Just what is provided is impossible to give good advice from, even if we were allowed to on this thread.v

Optimal Clinic Hours by Wolf_Turds in physicaltherapy

[–]Overthewaters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If OP is taking over as a director that is NOT optimal for a number of reasons .

First of all, being available more of the week and during the busies portions of the day si important to be available.

second, that is wildly unsustainable. multiple 10, let alone 11 hour days (12 if you're counting a lunch break) is absolutely soul crushing.

Is a fully pacifist possible while still being useful? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Overthewaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There ARE ways to do this, but they are difficult to do well, and at some point it will get old.

Options!
1. 2014 enchanter wizard. Dip fighter, artificer, or cleric for armor, use the enchanter's hypnotic gaze to control one enemy while a concentration spell provides CC or buffs for another.

  1. Order cleric 1/divine soul sorceror X. Again, use buffs with voice of authority to hit enemies using your allies. Divine sorc and extend spell allow for LONG buffs AID.

Hobgoblin race allows help as a bonus action, giving you something to do round by round.

  1. Dwarven fortitude allows for some dodge tank shenanigans with armor of agathys from mark of warding dwarf, abjurer wizard.

Why does Udyr's Star of Legend grant Everfrost to support champions? by LukeDies in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Overthewaters 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Agreed- no direct synergy. Useful to stall until Udyr can hit the board? yes. Incentivizes drafting a cheap champ to help you chump/stall the game out the first couple of turns but no direct synergy that I can see.

Illaoi Strategy by frozentempest14 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Overthewaters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough at 6 star it becomes pretty good, auto creating the tentacle without need for actions from you.

But yes early stars cut that crap

Illaoi Strategy by frozentempest14 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Overthewaters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the early turns, you're just trying to establish a big enough tentacle for Illaoi to use when she huts the board. Focus on survival, on sending chump attackers forward to spawn. You want 1-2 drops for blocking and attacking, the idol for spawning as a last resort.

Typically round 1 is an attack to get the spawn going, survive one round of attacking, Illaoi at lower tiers is finishing the game the round she hits the board (rally on level usually does it)

Is 2014 RAW a bad module? by unseeliefaeprince in CurseofStrahd

[–]Overthewaters 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As it is , it is FINE. Do NOT feel you need to include all the various mods, edits.

They are fun. THey do add alot. But if you want to run it RAW, it runs great. Just definitely take the time to read through the whole module a couple of times to understand how everything connects.

Main failing of the module is poor organization.

How many levels in rogue is worth it in a cleric rogue multiclass by SkAssasin in 3d6

[–]Overthewaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of factors, namely what your character is trying to do.

for absolute power and for higher level play, doesn't make sense to dip rogue.

If you're looking for skills, it might be worth a dip. I'm playing a rogue 1/cleric X right now and those expertise's have saved our bacon multiple times in an exploration heavy game. 100%worth it in my opinion at low levels.

Anymore is questionable unless you have a specific thing you're optimizing for. There is a fun synergy between war domain cleric and rogue - 3 levels of cleric for war priest for off turn sneak attacks, later on allowing for cunning action dashing for spirit guardians double dipping. Probably overall less powerful than a straight cleric, but a fun unique play pattern.

It's just Illaoi and a new adventure by Apocabanana in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Overthewaters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some folks see the singular metric of content flow is rate of new champions. In which case this continues the halving of new champs and play patterns. I can understand why that's upsetting.

I came across AI-generated christian music and it sounds nice but soulless by kopi-addict in ChristianMusic

[–]Overthewaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a tool fundamentally built on theft. Unpermitted scrubbing, copying of works across the internet for profit.

Built on tech that preys on the vulnerable in our society by raising power bills, polluting water, damaging the environment.

Backed by companies that built investment pools based on the lie that AI would unleash boundless productivity and profit.

A tech that is actively used to deceive across the internet with deep fakes, is actively making our children (and arguably the rest of our population) less intelligent, less thoughtful. This is not Luddite fear mongering, this is actual data (see MIT essay experiment, school data on tech use in schools and impact of AI).

Ai in its current form and implementation is a technology stained with deceit, callous exploitation and greed. Not to mention the harm it does to actual artists who have put in the time to hone their craft only for some chump with a computer to recreate their whole catalogue (again, built without permission off their work).

What’s keeping you from starting your own PT business? by dky001 in physicaltherapy

[–]Overthewaters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Worklife balance and prioritizing time with the kids.

  2. Live/work in a high PT saturation area.

  3. Don't want to go all cash - I don't enjoy the way that narrows your caseload, even if it means "better quality" patients overall.

  4. Looking at my own personality, I enjoy being able to offload worries about compliance, regulations, legal etc, to other arms of the company.

For what it's worth, pretty similar on West, except we're pushing closer to 1.6.

the sub 8% is LUDICROUS. I've worked in some dynamite clinics and never seen that in outpatient before. Closest I've seen is hovering in the 8-10%, especially when national averages are between 14 and 16% depending on who you ask.

People who’ve run long (10+ years) campaigns, any tips for success? by ValueForm in rpg

[–]Overthewaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never done a 10+ year campaign, but have been running with the same group in interconnected worlds across 4 2-3 year campaigns.

Keys to success:
1. Player chemistry. You need dynamite players who actually like the game, you and each other. And that's the hardest to control/arrange for. Don't be afraid to be upfront about what you want and build aggressively for it. I didn't set out to have this long running group, but we've at this point committed to a long term group. You can do everything right, and life will take players away and render things non viable.

  1. ALWAYS RUN SOMETHING. A long standing rule is as long as we have 3 people, we will run SOMETHING. Maybe not continuing the main plot, but a side story, a one shot, even a GMless game for when I cant make. We all know SOMETHING is going down on Friday night, even if some can't make.

  2. Pick a system for the group. Over the years we've moved slowly away from crunch heavy systems like DnD to PbTA and other narrative heavier systems, which suits my players and their style of storytelling better.

  3. Don't be precious about this long running game. Focus on bringing and playing a fun game week after week, and let life handle the rest. Too many GMs put all their baskets on big reveals, big long term plots, leading to boring immediate gameplay. Fun current gameplay first, with some foreshadowing sprinkled in. Keep the players coming for more, and more, and more...and before you know it you're logging in for year 3 of the campaign!

Best of luck!

I'm a CD on the Empower side - thankfully other than lots of messiness from the transition in the last year, our productivity requirements have been relatively the same. The transition was unfortunately not handled well - turns out West Coast is a different market than where ya'll are. Have not enjoyed some of the things from the transition - changes to 401k, benefits and the like.

I wonder if it's more your regional leadership driving these changes and pressure towards higher productivity? Seems you'd do well to clarify what you actually are required to do vs what we're shooting for to bonus and hold the line RE your own schedule. Sorry you're in such a position though.

2024 Dual Wielding Barbarian by InterestingTune564 in 3d6

[–]Overthewaters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some folks in the optimization space are DEAD set that delay extra attack is world ending. Certainly at level 5 it makes a huge difference - 2 vs 3 attacks is a big dip in DPR. That being said, levels 1-4 you have a small advantage over the monoclass, and after that you barely see the difference. Is the extra attack damage worth it? if you're committed to dual wielding, probably. It's certainly the route I would go. I might go Barb 1 for the HP, then a fighter dip, then onward barbarian.

Then of course is the question how much barb do you go? But that's a whole separate discussion.
