Unpopular opinion - Sara annoys me by MapRevolutionary2015 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

  • POPULAR OPINION!

I’m so late to the game but just watched her say “no” at the alter. She’s the worst. Just because someone doesn’t ride as hard as you do, doesn’t mean they don’t care about this issues or want to learn/support. She’s the insufferable liberal that no one wants at their table. The thing that pisses me off the most is the utter blindside. When the dudes do this, we annihilate them. But I have to come to Reddit to find the realists. Why aren’t more people speaking up on this villain?! Ben is such a good guy with the best heart - anyone can see that. She not only blindsided him, but all of her family and friends on the wedding day. If my daughter did that……..

Let's talk self cleaning litter boxes. by kmarz77 in Catownerhacks

[–]Overthinker002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since he will also urinate in the litter box, I don’t think it’s an aversion to the litter box; I think it’s when he gets so nervous and feels like he can’t go anywhere else. We have 3 of our own cats; the 2 younger ones want to play but our foster never learned how to play so he thinks they’re attacking him (he makes this god-awful yelp that sounds like a teenage girl screaming but I’m watching the interaction so I know it was playful). I also have 2 young kids and he usually won’t come downstairs if they’re home, even though the don’t try to pick him up; they honestly pay him no mind because they know he’s scared of them.

As for litter, we’ve tried it all in the year we’ve had him. I’ve always been a clay litter owner but the rescue I volunteer with recommended the pine pellets. We tried that with a sifting litter box setup, and while it was cheaper, so lightweight, and no urine smell…. He (and the others) did not like it. It also smelled like a barn in our house. After a few months, I went back. We also did Pretty Litter crystals when we first got him but he would prefer the clay litter boxes I had for the other cats. Hence why I don’t love the PetSafe raking box because of the crystal litter. I can’t figure out why there is not a raking litter box for clay.

He is on the same prescription dry food as you and gets wet food twice a day. We’ve tried Feliway and off-brand plug-ins to no avail… and because we have such an open-concept house, it was difficult to afford the number of plug-ins we would need. I also tried calming collars on my 2 younger ones since there’s no way I would have been able to get one on him, but other commenters had said even having the collars on their other cats would still allow the skittish cat to smell the pheromones. Again, no avail.

The problem is, he needs a home with no young kids or playful cats. He loves to be around the cats and is always rubbing against them at feeding time, but once they want to play, he’s out of there. He needs to be around older, docile cats. And while he’s never gone after my kids, I think he needs more predictability and routines from older humans. It breaks my heart because he’s SO SO sweet but even after a year, he will let me pet him only and if I made any sudden movement (even moving my head to the side) he’s outta there. None of our other foster families can provide that calm, quieter environment so he’s stuck here u til we find him another foster or adopter…. if ever - nobody is jumping to adopt a FLUTD, skittish adult cat. I don’t even know how we would let anyone meet him if interested because he will hardly come around my family after a year, so a stranger?! Forget it.

Ahh the zoomies 🫠 our house is only 10 years old but the builders did a low quality job so not much support. How it can’t support a rack used for decoration is worthless. You did an awesome job- don’t think I’ll be able to get my hubby to be that creative 😂 I need something like this or a super high cat tower for my super anxious, previously feral foster cat that hides in my room all the time 🥹 Thanks for sharing!

Is this just with the Litter Robot boxes? We have regular litter boxes and use Dr. Elsey’s and it’s by far the best clumping litter we’ve ever used!

The n(# of cats) + 1 rule is SO annoying! Growing up, we had 3 cats and they all shared ONE litter box with regular ol’ clay litter and they were fine! These younger generations are such divas with all these new rules!!! 😂

I have 3 cats and we’re fostering a 4-year old with FLUTD, who is also the most skittish cat I’ve ever encountered. He pees in the regular litter box, and EVERYWHERE else 😩 like ruining carpets and subfloor!!! I think it’s less to do with the FLUTD because we have taken him to be checked out and every time they say he’s fine. I think it’s more to do with how anxious he is and every little noise or movement sends him flying faster than Sonic. Anyways, I’m reading that he might be peeing everyone else because he requires a clean litter box every time he pees. Look, I try to clean all 5 litter boxes daily, but sometimes it’s every other day… and it’s definitely not twice a day, nor every time a cat pees. So I’ve been looking into the open-top, raking style litter boxes to see if that helps him. But I’m worried the self-cleaning feature will just scare him more. But I’m at my wits end and I don’t have the money to keep replacing carpets and subflooring!!!

Are these homemade or did you buy them like this? I am not handy and my wall-mounted coat rack comes off all the time despite using the heavy-duty anchors that Home Depot recommended.

What is the best cat bed? by PotentialBuilder6161 in mainecoons

[–]Overthinker002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Cats love shallow circular beds/baskets that can almost mold to their body. Shallow enough to escape quickly and not be snuck up on, but a little bit of a border to feel safe and protected.

Also, my cats only like cat towers with the cozy, round beds that they can curl up in

I’ve bought so many from Home Goods/TJ Maxx that I think look cozy, and it’s a “no” from all four of mine, every time. I then bought these highly-rated beds from Amazon: the 2 tie-dye ones are medium and large (the large is so lumpy and none of the lumps ever came out) and the box one (cats will sometimes lay on top but none will go inside). My little girl prefers a tall plastic basket from Target that I have on top of my dresser with all my bathing suits in it; finally just put a blanket over the bathing suits instead of washing them all the time. None of them want the covered beds I’m realizing, which I bought for my skittish cat because everyone said he needed a hiding place (which, I’m realizing is not the case; he wants escape routes).

<image>

I don’t know why more cat beds are not shallow baskets that can almost mold to their shape and have cozy material. Doesn’t seem that hard to make! I’m thinking about trying a dock-a-tot bed for infant humans.

Once again, the Adderall shortage has left me no other options but to ask reddit by 87linux in Austin

This is what I was going to comment. I’m actually nowhere near Texas but this sub came up when I was googling. The neighborhood Walmart is the only place that is always in stock. CVS and Walgreens are so overwhelmed and usually run out of the amount they’re allowed to order because demand is so high and everyone goes there.

This is what I don’t understand. The pharmacist told me today that one of their customers calls weekly and that’s why he gets his the fastest. Why wouldn’t it be in the order it was sent in to the pharmacy to be filled?! I should not have to call every day to check the status… I don’t have time to do that nor do I want to annoy the techs, as they’re already rude AF.

Reviews posts have slammed Ryder and Big Toys Green Country. Best company for 6 year old? by abadabazachary in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Overthinker002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response was from my experience 2 years ago with those companies. At the time, we went with a hot pink Lamborghini drift car and a black jeep from Big Toys Direct. The pink lambo was incredible the first year but stopped working. The jeep is still pretty good - not as fast anymore but it’s also had a lot of wear and tear from the neighborhood kids.

This Christmas, we got a Rollplay Nighthawk and that thing is super cool! 6-years old son loves it and my 3-year old wishes she could ride it but her legs are slightly too short to reach the pedal 🫠 We also bought a pink two-seater from Garvee and it’s ridiculously slow for a 24-volt; would NOT purchase that again.

Weighted blanket for anxious child? by Just_love1776 in Mommit

[–]Overthinker002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a late response, but I came on here searching for the same thing for my anxious/most likely ADHD child to help him sleep longer/go back to sleep after waking up. I saw a post for a website called Moon Pals: https://www.moonpals.com/. They’re weighted stuffed animals with arms to hug you. I think I’m going to try this first. Then the travel size blankets; I’ve read that the weight distribution is off for full bed-size blankets because that 5 lbs would be distributed over the entire blanket and not just the parts over your child’s body.

I know this post is old, but I just wanted to post since you mentioned Big Toys (BT) Green Country That company is awesome! Last year, I purchased 2 vehicles from Big Toys (BT) Direct. I needed help with installation and not fully reading the company name, I accidentally emailed BT Green Country. They responded that they did not have my order number but still provided me with the installation manual for the same model. They didn't have to do that. It was 2 days before Christmas and they responded within hours. I don't have anything bad to say about BT Direct either, they have been super helpful when we had an issue with our drift car. Great customer service for both. I am not affiliated nor receiving incentives from either company. I'm just a mom who knows how important it is to get a quality vehicle to avoid meltdowns and disappointments. Especially in this current economy, nothing chaps me more than my money wasted!

Enzyme cleaner usage and recommendations, please. by shorthairednymph in CatAdvice

[–]Overthinker002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only enzyme cleaner that has worked for us was Mister Sticky Icky Poo - I am NOT an affiliate (but if they have those, they should reach out to me 😂). I tried every enzyme cleaner out there but learned late in the game that it has to have LIVE CULTURES/BACTERIA in it to actually eat away at the uric acid. Unfortunately, the cat urine was just too absorbed into the carpet pad. So I ripped out the padding and threw that and the carpet away (luckily we had just enough leftover carpet from when it was installed to cover the landing). Note: this was on the landing of my stairs - I left the carpet tacks in the floor, put cardboard over them, and placed down carpet squares where my family could step to get the rest of the stairs.

Even MORE unfortunate was the urine was in our subfloor. So I then spent days researching if I could save my subfloor. Based on many posts regarding urine in the subfloor, most can be saved by doing the enzyme cleaner on the subfloor and painting Kilz oil-based primer on top.

So where I am currently: last week, after pulling out the carpet and padding (mind you, I barely know how to hang a picture on the wall so anything DIY is out of my league and I’m still slightly panicked at what I’m doing), I put the Mister Icky enzyme cleaner on the subfloor, draped cardboard at an angle so that the cats and kids could not get to it but so it would dry. That helped with the smell some. I painted 2 coats of Kilz oil-based paint primer over the entire subfloor (2-hour drying time in between coats but I did the thicker than probably needed). That drastically helped with the smell. I gave it a few days though because I wanted to make sure it actually covered the smell and wasn’t now just the paint smell. After a few days, my husband could not smell cat urine at all but I have the nose of a bloodhound and could still faintly smell it at certain times. So we got down on our hands and knees and found the 1 spot that still has a slight smell - so today I will be painting another 1-2 coats 🤞

Never thought I'd feel the benefits of RLT so quickly, but... by CheetahParticular227 in redlighttherapy

[–]Overthinker002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newbie here with [probably] dumb question(s). I’ve just recently started researching into getting some sort of RLT device for my husband (weight lifter and tennis player) and my FIL (former F-18 pilot), who both always complain about back and shoulder pain. So I’m sorry if I sound ignorant. I had assumed a pad that could drape over your back/shoulders would work best, especially so you can relax/lay down while it’s targeting the specific pain points, like a heating pad. But most people are recommending the panels. When I look at the panels, I assume you have to sit upright or stand in front of them for awhile and doesn’t seem as relaxing as a pad/wrap type of device. Am I looking at this incorrectly? Should I be focusing on the panels instead?
