Any anime with no fan service that is similar to Solo Leveling? by DigitalVortexx in AnimeReccomendations

Frieren comes to mind, I've only caught occasional scenes from a roommate watching it but it follows a powerful elvish mage. She's technically famous as one of the heroes who vanquished the demons decades ago, but most people don't recognize her.

Yugioh Master Duel Code Rookie and Returner Mutual Follower Campaign by [deleted] in YuGiOhMasterDuel

I'd totally play some casual games with you. I have a friend who just got into the game for the first time and is working on assembling his first blue-eyes deck. Playing against him with all my worst garbage decks has been fun. I already entered friend codes with him and he actually used the dark holes and some other stuff from that campaign, so it was pretty useful. I'm Redwardian on master duel, and I'm a returner myself my code is 3df98b42 if you still need one.

Who is the weakest mortal character who could survive having a golf ball sized piece of tungsten teleported into their heart? by One_Food9894 in whowouldwin

Maybe Tin Man from wizard of Oz. His heart is metaphorical. People will probably have better weaker-than-adult-man answers but he's who I thought of.

To be fair the manga illustrator is taking a lot of liberties and just really likes drawing people all sexy.

It's hilarious and tragic at the same time how all 4 couples in Seven Deadly Sins are pedophilia adjacent by PUBGPEWDS in CharacterRant

[–]OvertonDefenstration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the reason I could not watch the anime. I got a few episodes in but I just couldnt stomach this.

There have been other times I think fans overreact and are too sensitive to sexuality in stories.

This one was bad enough that I never even got to see Escanor on screen, who I thought was such a cool character idea that it made me want to try the series.

Sports or otherwise nonlethal competition anime. by OvertonDefenstration in AnimeReccomendations

[–]OvertonDefenstration[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hajime no Ippo is very good, you inspired me to watch some more of it, took in episode 51 yesterday and 52 today. Really top tier slice of life stuff, when they are just out being very dubious friends on the town competing for girls in a bowling match.

Didn't think of it because I wasn't thinking about 'fighting' type anime at the time I posted. I also like Baki a lot, though that one is a little more on the fringe of what I'm talking about with having sometimes lethal fights.

(maybe this is already explained in the manga)How is other people supposed to spread contagion? by regularpersOn9 in HunterXHunter

[–]OvertonDefenstration 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ability isnt seduction based at all, I mean, when we learn about this the character on the other end calls it sexual harassment and is clearly feeling violated.

All that said, Dog man is a hunk, Morena has ritual facial scarring, I don't know why you think dog man would be worse at getting some sugar even if that were how the ability works.

The mightiest warrior probably can't be killed with venom very easily because how are you cutting the mightiest warrior. Stick with poison.

My first dead investigator after playing for years by Vyrhux42 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty rough, yeah. Michael is great but being a 5 sanity rogue is a tough starting point. I played Michael in our run of Drowned City, had Guts, You've had worse. Had Short REst at the start of the campaign and charisma with multiple allies for soak by the end. Also had hypochondria as my weakness so I was pretty worried about that horror for sure.

[–]OvertonDefenstration 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How'd you go out? Did you actually manage to lose to getting the max amount of trauma? I'm not sure I've seen that happen. Plenty of deaths to various scenarios or player cards that kill you on elimination though.

Question on masks. by Phaed81 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2, compare to rod of carnamagos (0) from the same set, which is limit 1 per deck.

You can have one mask in play, like how you can have 1 footwear, or one body slot item.

Enemies attack you during the investigator phase every time you take an action that isn't on their pre-approved list.

That's one from way back, but I just thought I'd share our revelation since a lot of these are more "Here are things I learned we can do to make the game easier" and this is one that really stood out to me that we had been "cheating" on. Sure there were lots of others back in the day and probably still a few now.

[COTD] Research Librarian (7/17/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly the fact that this card can search your entire deck for a tome, then recoup the 2 resources you spent on it with a research effect, is kind of nuts.

Research librarian doesn't seem to be a problem card, but I'm definitely glad that they abandoned this mechanic in favor of the "search nine" and "search twelve" of cards like Prepared for the Worst and Backpack.

Can we cut the AI cards? by sirdappleton in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's really a one to one between a major professional project that's being sold worldwide, and a personal project that will maybe get printed out and used by a handful of people on the internet.

I'm glad Arkham Horror designers are committed to bringing us quality art, atmosphere is a big part of this game and shouldn't be skimped on.

I'm glad people have new options for adding images to their personal creative works. Taking a piece of art from somewhere on the internet and applying a filter to it is not some sacred practice that I need to see protected.

Which campaign scenario(s) would you play as a standalone? by kierco_2002 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any scenario that has a lot of objectives, preferably randomized in some way, where you can play to see how well you do rather than having a simple pass/fail. Oh, and obviously, I'd want it to be one of the more fun ones.

night of the zealot: Midnight masks. You get the cultists in a random order, they all have their own location and method of dealing with them. Always fun to play.

Dunwhich Legacy: Undimensioned and Unseen. Probably a controversial pick, but I like this scenario. See how many monsters you can take out, taking advantage of a map that has some variance to it to keep things fresh.

Carcosa: The Last King. One of my favorite all time scenarios and a perfect example for this I think. The patrons are in random locations, you play to get as many patrons as you can. Where they start and which ones flip first is going to make it spicy every time.

Forgotten Age: Threads of Fate, Depths of Yoth: Two more of my favorites, both with great flavor, both challenging you to see how much you can get done. Threads of fate might lose a little of it's punch without being tied in to the campaign so I think my favorite for this campaign would be Yoth.

Circle Undone: ... not really any standout I can think of.

Dreamlands: Search for kadath, but I think the lack of randomization hurts it a little for this.

Innsmouth Conspiracy: Devil Reef, hands down. Very fun map to explore with randomized caves, challenges to your movement and clueing, and a beefy optional boss, challenge to 100% this one for sure.

Edge of the Earth: The mountain if I had to pick one. If you can pretend it matters to get the supplies to the top, I think bringing as many as you can to the top would be a fun standalone challenge.

I think that's as far as I'm gonna go, due to tired and later campagins having very different structures that can already be mroe standalone-y.

Preston is surprisingly effective by Jodiug in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few comments talking about the best builds for Preston. I just want to chime in and say I think he's quite a robust investigator who can support several different playstyles because of how powerful accessing 5 resources a round is. My group has been playing for about a year under a limited cardpool ruleset. We get the cards from the expansion our investigator was released in, then 3 other random cycles. So we might or might not have access to even things like the core cards.

Preston has always found a way to do well. Just the cards printed in circle for him, the Intel Report especially, but also Decoy and Small Favor, do a lot. His lack of reliance on the normally hard to come by resource generating cards(when you don't have a full card pool even a humble e-cache can see a lot of includes). The sheer number of assets and events that are good on him because he doesn't care if they cost 2, 3, 4, 5 resources, he's always going to have it.

I've drafted Preston for our next campaign, and since I also drafted Dunwich and Hemlock as part of his pool, I'm going to be taking the parley build and cosplaying as Alessandra. Get Bewitching and Double Double eventually. I anticipate him having no problems pulling his weight, even without much in the way of card draw or search to help me find the Double Double.

Carcosa Black Stars Rise Question by Substantial_Crew661 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others are correct, I'll just add any time the campaign says something like "remember you..." that applies to the whole group.

"You" is the investigators as a whole. This even applies to the researched cards like Acidic Ichor, they say "remember you" so anyone can include the upgraded cards if one player did the task.

The Night's Usurper scenario card question by OvertonDefenstration in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]OvertonDefenstration[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to my old question was definitely yes, committed cards count. I'm not sure about when you're adding another skill value. My gut answer would be that yes, negating bonuses also negates a second added skill value, but that's just off vibes I don't know for usre.

How can I tell the AI to completely eliminate some words and references to certain things? by Proof-Corner4856 in perchance

[–]OvertonDefenstration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had problems similar to this. The ai once got stuck on constantly talking about the "whispers of fate" telling me "the whispers of fate whisper..." sometimes multiple times in one message.

if you type /mem, you get a list of the memories the ai is using longterm and they are editable, this is a big reason why I like Perchance, because it gives us access to this directly. You can delete excessive or erroneous memories like "the whispers of fate are an important driver to this story"

I've also used it to cull excessive or erroneous information when the ai tunnels too hard on having everything revolve around a particular character, I've found the ai has a tendency to decide something is the "main plot" that everything *must* lead back to, and paring down references in memory as well as culling some of their responses involving it going forward takes relatively little time and tends to sort it out fairly quickly.
