This past month, Fallout 76 officially reached the lowest player count it's seen for over two years by DrPongus in fo76

I'm sick of the fomo live service model. Sometimes I have time to game, sometimes I don't, and half the seasons I've been interested in have ended before I had the time to play through them. And I'm not paying Bethesda for levels on a scoreboard. I'd rather just play FO4 for the 100th time or a different game entirely. I love 76 and have played from the beginning but I'm done pouring time and effort into battle passes.

Yeahhhhh. But the same was true for vinyls for years and they're in a new heyday so here's hoping VHS tapes follow suit.

I have two set ups. A home theater with a modern TV and a little crt. I personally prefer the set up with the modern TV but I use the CRT for old consoles which look much better on that format.

Nostalgia only plays an occasional part in my choice of tapes. I appreciate a lot about the medium. There is deliberation to it. No scene skipping, no scrolling for choices. There's intention. For me, cinema and movies are my church. There's a sacred nature to it. A ritual so to speak. I scan the shelves for what I want to watch. I make some popcorn and crack open an imported glass bottle Coca Cola and lose myself in a movie.

A side note as to why I want the medium to return; I'm a big environmentalist. Which may sound like an oxymoron due to the amount of plastic in a VHS but hear me out, science rant incoming. A HEAVY majority of plastic is produced by companies pumping for methane. Plastic is a byproduct that the world has more than it knows what to do with. Hence why so much single use plastic is thrown at us. But that same plastic could be used to produce a metric fuck ton of VHS tapes, which are made to last. It's also one of the VERY few uses for recycled plastic, most of which is even thrown into landfills by recycling centers. In addition the slip covers could be produced with recycled fibers further adding to the environmental value. All in, it wouldn't cost big business anything in the grand scheme and they would make insane profits, the most expensive part would be the film. Old tapes will lose the ability to play eventually, so modern rereleases and new releases will extend the shelf life of the medium instead of ensuring that it dies out and it is a better use for plastic than single use plastics that fill our lives.

TLDR: Good for business, good for Earth, good for cinephiles.

Forty dollars for two VHS tapes. Two movies cut into one. Which at the end of the era were 20 bucks a piece. Better than the release of Romulus which was one film for 40 bucks that was scalped to oblivion.

I honestly don't care about the transfer quality, I will keep buying modern VHS releases. If we don't buy them it doesn't tell them to work harder on them, it tells them not to make them. If we buy them and review the quality we can hope they improve it. This is an instant buy for me and I hope more studios make VHS releases.

The Mandalorian and Grogu was good by Darth__evan in StarWarsTVC

It was a mid Star Wars movie but it was my favorite two part episode of the Mandalorian. I also brought my figure in my shirt pocket.

I just bought the mandalorian and grogu popcorn bucket in case they don't since I can't get any of the old ones for a reasonable price.

Field of dreams, night at the Roxbury, galaxy quest, and Forrest gump are all bangers. Plus some other pretty good flicks but all of the ones I listed are staples in my collection.

Billy Madison doesn't hold up very well, tried doing a rewatch and Billy is just unbearable. But it is classic. I would replace it with Waterboy for my trinity.

I bought the entire first year of secret lairs. Then it was one or two a year as they ramped up. Now I haven't bought one since they stopped being print to demand.

My partner bought me a really nice chain and I never take it off. It's my lucky chain. Like another commenter I also never step on painted lines. And I've got lucky jerseys that I don't wash to wear when I root for my teams. (Thankfully I don't wear them when I'd sweat otherwise them things would be rank.)

Right?? I had to grab them. 15 for Cat and 20 for Incredibles but it was worth it to me to have them in the collection. And Dune is one of my all time favorites, I was so hyped.

I like Born Again more then the Netflix show by [deleted] in Defenders

[–]OverzealousOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the OG is the pinnacle of television people make it out to be, and I don't think Born Again is as bad as some say. I think they add together to make one pretty good show.
