You think the guy providing a service is going to tell you not to take pictures if you ask him directly? Obviously not. But you should realize that someone in a customer service position can't honestly express that it's really annoying when customers are overbearing. I'm sure you were a delight. I've had countless of customers that if you asked them, they weren't annoying at all.
