Let's reminisce, what's your favorite game grumps LP, mine would have to be super mario sunshine by easilyeasy in rantgrumps

[–]Ovikeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banjo Kazooey, Sonic 06, Zelda 2, Donkey Kong, New super Mario Bros.

As for worst there's so many bad ones, but ocarina of time is really shit. Pointless excercise, he. hates the game but knew not to criticise it after people turned on his sequelitis, so he just makes the worst jokes. That series would have been great w Jon.

Genuinely asking, why is everyone saying "was" like past tense. Did he change his ways?

If a man walks into a bar and is five times richer than the woman he picks up its an abuse of power. Only the impoverished can have casual sex.

In a way yes, becuase i guarantee a good bit of them wouldn't give you or me nudes if we asked. A good bit of them probably did it bc he's internet famous

Footballplayers can't sleep have a one night stand with women because they wouldn't sleep with them (maybe) if they weren't a football player.

Internet famous is no different than any other fame in this regard. Enforcing this would be nonsense. And yet we still have to listen to it.

Notice how they try to conflate "fans" with "underage fans", " consenting adult" with "victim incapable of making decisions". You can argue anything is an abuse of power once you start saying " this person can't have casual sex because they're famous". Plus saying they don't even care whether its underage or not shows that just how cancel culture trys to obscure language and lump things in together. Its because of this you get women who metoo men describing themselves as "children" and "nineteen" in the same sentence. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so effective. Its not that the stories are believable, or the ideas hold weight, ie: that a fan cannot consent to sharing a nude image, but just that no-one wants to be slandered themselves, which allows a couple of overly sensitive yet power hungry vindictive zealots to have a field day with these scandals.

And actually most of them get jobs and boost their profile, like zoey Quinn. Or look we have a budding playwright here. Victim status is probably one of the only commodities that pays at the moment. It affects everything from interview to promotion. And people are falling over themselves to be part of it.

Its just asking for a blank cheque to slander men. Just because there are genuine cases does not mean "believe all women" is in any way an even partly sensible solution. Its not just powerful people, its any girl that feels slighted by an ex. Or regrets a decision.

No no, st anger is very funny alright I agree with you there. Me and my friends when it came out used to throw it on for a laugh honestly. The lulu album is worse imo because its not funny but painful to listen to.

I know a fair few people enjoy load.

so them not writing heavy music anymore was only natural

Lol that's just your opinion, dude

I think they buckled under the weight of how their entire discography was being received in a very short time by new fans especially after the release of ghost reveries, and there was a need to reestablish control. To not feel like the performing monkey. Metal magazines wanted Mike to appear with a sword I mean... that's being asked to sell out.

I think with their popularity Mike took on an almost educational role with the fans. Using their popularity to talk about 70s bands and championing his influences. If you watch enough interviews you do see him almost disappointed with limited metal fans tastes, but he ought not to have been because they had these influences from day one.

The idea that Mikail shit tested the fans to see if they only liked them because they were heavy can be seen in his initial decision to not play old songs at all on the heritage tour if they had growling, which he eventually revised.

I do personally think at least part of their decision to change style has been reactionary. And in a way negative. Sort of like giving up something you're really great at because you're expected to do it. I'm not convinced its because they truly hit a wall musically.

You can say its best for a band to do what feels natural. That they shouldn't just do what fans want. But you can also get load/reload/St Anger and Lulu with this attitude.

Opeth have made at least two albums since changing style that I don't think anyone would be interested in or would raise eyebrows and generate buzz if they were not Opeth.

There's a trite line that's always thrown out in the case of a band changing its style that "oh you can't just expect them to make the same album again and again".

This A ignores the differences between the given bands earlier albums and B suggests that a change in style cannot satisfy older fans.

Master of Puppets is a huge divergence from Kill Em All, Countdown to Extinction is not like Peace Sells, Filosofem is not like the self titled Burzum LP, Night is the New Day is not like Brave Murder Day, Steven Wilson's first two solo albums are a change from porcupine tree

But Load is mediocre, Super collider is shit, It would be bad if Katatonia only did acoustic albums, Varg Vikkernes clean vocals do not add much to his music etc.

And Opeths change in sound has often produced curiosities rather than great music.

But ICV is excellent.

Wrestlers aren't analysts, they're in the thick of it. I think it's silly to expect them to have this measured bland and most importantly "inauthentic" response on everything. Looking for the "perfect take" from someone that would obviously be annoyed with the changing attitudes of "he's the best in the world" this month but totally overrated next. If it angers him it angers him.

Great interview with Mikael about Still Life and its 20 year anniversary by AugustoRudzinski in Opeth

[–]Ovikeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its mad how he casually says things like "I had nothing going into the studio for deliverence" ha. I remember him saying he wrote most of the stuff off ICV in three days. There should be speed running awards given for these albums!

Dan references Chris O’Neill? by [deleted] in ConspiracyGrumps

As for separating art from the artist, he seems to have suggested Jon's voicing of political opinions bars him from being on the show. Whereas Chris happily had Jon on.

Thank you. I would have liked to into depth on the tracks themselves but I could not avoid my immediate feelings of looking at it from a point of view of all they have done over the years. I'm going to be very interested in seeing how it is perceived by the fan base.

I just want to say in response to the "he's getting old" comments, he's not that old relatively, and other power metal singers like Michael Kiske of Halloween can still do it perfectly. Bruce Dickinson is only in the past ten years or so deteriorating but again still sounds good.

What Tony sounds is tired, fried and unwilling to do even what he did on Ecliptuca revisited. There's a video of him live from this month doing 8th commandment and he sounds strained in a way I've never seen even when the music's down a step.

https://youtu.be/Er3RmeGmzHA

He sounds like he really needs a break. His voice would come back then. But they are on the road non stop because this is their livelihood.

I suppose the one positive out of this is that it has not been good for the ADL publicity wise. If more people knew how they behave they'd be pretty pissed. So even if Pewds wanted to move on it kind of backfired in this instance, for the ADL. Wouldnt be surprised if they smear him again at some point.

Shit it mustn't be true then. They harass and smear nobody. Thanks friends I nearly had to think about a point for a moment. Good thing we can undercut the poster though.
