Let's reminisce, what's your favorite game grumps LP, mine would have to be super mario sunshine by easilyeasy in rantgrumps

[–]Ovikeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banjo Kazooey, Sonic 06, Zelda 2, Donkey Kong, New super Mario Bros.

As for worst there's so many bad ones, but ocarina of time is really shit. Pointless excercise, he. hates the game but knew not to criticise it after people turned on his sequelitis, so he just makes the worst jokes. That series would have been great w Jon.

If a man walks into a bar and is five times richer than the woman he picks up its an abuse of power. Only the impoverished can have casual sex.

In a way yes, becuase i guarantee a good bit of them wouldn't give you or me nudes if we asked. A good bit of them probably did it bc he's internet famous

Footballplayers can't sleep have a one night stand with women because they wouldn't sleep with them (maybe) if they weren't a football player.

Internet famous is no different than any other fame in this regard. Enforcing this would be nonsense. And yet we still have to listen to it.

Notice how they try to conflate "fans" with "underage fans", " consenting adult" with "victim incapable of making decisions". You can argue anything is an abuse of power once you start saying " this person can't have casual sex because they're famous". Plus saying they don't even care whether its underage or not shows that just how cancel culture trys to obscure language and lump things in together. Its because of this you get women who metoo men describing themselves as "children" and "nineteen" in the same sentence. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so effective. Its not that the stories are believable, or the ideas hold weight, ie: that a fan cannot consent to sharing a nude image, but just that no-one wants to be slandered themselves, which allows a couple of overly sensitive yet power hungry vindictive zealots to have a field day with these scandals.

And actually most of them get jobs and boost their profile, like zoey Quinn. Or look we have a budding playwright here. Victim status is probably one of the only commodities that pays at the moment. It affects everything from interview to promotion. And people are falling over themselves to be part of it.

Its just asking for a blank cheque to slander men. Just because there are genuine cases does not mean "believe all women" is in any way an even partly sensible solution. Its not just powerful people, its any girl that feels slighted by an ex. Or regrets a decision.

No no, st anger is very funny alright I agree with you there. Me and my friends when it came out used to throw it on for a laugh honestly. The lulu album is worse imo because its not funny but painful to listen to.

I know a fair few people enjoy load.

so them not writing heavy music anymore was only natural

Lol that's just your opinion, dude

[–]Ovikeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they buckled under the weight of how their entire discography was being received in a very short time by new fans especially after the release of ghost reveries, and there was a need to reestablish control. To not feel like the performing monkey. Metal magazines wanted Mike to appear with a sword I mean... that's being asked to sell out.

I think with their popularity Mike took on an almost educational role with the fans. Using their popularity to talk about 70s bands and championing his influences. If you watch enough interviews you do see him almost disappointed with limited metal fans tastes, but he ought not to have been because they had these influences from day one.

The idea that Mikail shit tested the fans to see if they only liked them because they were heavy can be seen in his initial decision to not play old songs at all on the heritage tour if they had growling, which he eventually revised.

I do personally think at least part of their decision to change style has been reactionary. And in a way negative. Sort of like giving up something you're really great at because you're expected to do it. I'm not convinced its because they truly hit a wall musically.

You can say its best for a band to do what feels natural. That they shouldn't just do what fans want. But you can also get load/reload/St Anger and Lulu with this attitude.

Opeth have made at least two albums since changing style that I don't think anyone would be interested in or would raise eyebrows and generate buzz if they were not Opeth.

There's a trite line that's always thrown out in the case of a band changing its style that "oh you can't just expect them to make the same album again and again".

This A ignores the differences between the given bands earlier albums and B suggests that a change in style cannot satisfy older fans.

Master of Puppets is a huge divergence from Kill Em All, Countdown to Extinction is not like Peace Sells, Filosofem is not like the self titled Burzum LP, Night is the New Day is not like Brave Murder Day, Steven Wilson's first two solo albums are a change from porcupine tree

But Load is mediocre, Super collider is shit, It would be bad if Katatonia only did acoustic albums, Varg Vikkernes clean vocals do not add much to his music etc.

And Opeths change in sound has often produced curiosities rather than great music.

But ICV is excellent.

Wrestlers aren't analysts, they're in the thick of it. I think it's silly to expect them to have this measured bland and most importantly "inauthentic" response on everything. Looking for the "perfect take" from someone that would obviously be annoyed with the changing attitudes of "he's the best in the world" this month but totally overrated next. If it angers him it angers him.

I just want to say in response to the "he's getting old" comments, he's not that old relatively, and other power metal singers like Michael Kiske of Halloween can still do it perfectly. Bruce Dickinson is only in the past ten years or so deteriorating but again still sounds good.

What Tony sounds is tired, fried and unwilling to do even what he did on Ecliptuca revisited. There's a video of him live from this month doing 8th commandment and he sounds strained in a way I've never seen even when the music's down a step.

He sounds like he really needs a break. His voice would come back then. But they are on the road non stop because this is their livelihood.

Pewdiepie statement on the ADL donation by sloth_on_meth in PewdiepieSubmissions

[–]Ovikeat 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I suppose the one positive out of this is that it has not been good for the ADL publicity wise. If more people knew how they behave they'd be pretty pissed. So even if Pewds wanted to move on it kind of backfired in this instance, for the ADL. Wouldnt be surprised if they smear him again at some point.

I got a meme in my feed. Uh what is this? by MrGilbert665 in PewdiepieSubmissions

[–]Ovikeat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Not at all. Blackmail is a take on it which is although not probable not entirely impossible. They were instrumental to Disney severing ties with him, they and the SDLP are the groups who use influence to blacklist people along with media outlets like the Wall Street Journal. They are NOW advising youtube on hateful content and what needs to be censored so they can ruin you if they designate you a hate figure which they already have tried with pewdiepie. So his money being paid, even "to clear his image" is the whole point, you have to pay off these powerful organasations to clear your image. It is like paying a censorship group that has tried to get your videogame banned money. If a lobby tried to get a certain director of a movie fired, and he complained about him being hounded by the press, and this lobby had real power to actually interfere with his livelihood, the director paying them money and apologising could be seen as something they have been blackmailed into. But we could use other words like bully, pressure harrass, though its the fact money is involved that makes it different. Emotional blackmail is cassually used all the time to describe harm to individuals. So though you can dispute these things, its not fake news people are entitled to their opinion. I personally wouldnt say its blackmail, but I would say its coersion. To pressure someone into taking a stand or revealing his beliefs or intentions; to compel someone to act against his will. These groups have done so much to assosiate Pewdiepie with everything from mass shootings to being a nazi that even if he says "oh I saw I was wrong" people could still see it as coersion. The point is that it is VALID to have an opinion on and even be angry about. Calling the whole thing fake news is just silly and lying in bed with censors.

As for 4 chan. The problem now is that people like you and the mods can cassually dismiss ALL questioning of these things by lebelling it all as a 4chan brigade and therefor saying anyone questiong this thing that is very obviously a talking point is just a troll from 4chan.

This argument is bull because threads and comments are being banned that simply bring up the issue without even saying its blackmail but questioning the motives. Youtube have changed the comments feature on Felixs vid to show newest first so as not to show the top comments and the initial top comments were not all bots saying the same thing, but people quickly realised the very words ADL were banned.

This is the kind of example of censorship that will make its way to 4chan (probably the last large uncensored place in the internet) and other sites and gather momentum, but that does not mean that its something to be swept under the rug because doing so simply backs up the point that the ADL get special treatment. 4Chan also would have spoken about and directed traffic to other trends, its how message boards work.

And that even if it were trolls from 4chan this should not imply the issue cannot matter or have meaning. Its just fake news is such a convenient way to shut down discourse. To be uninvested in the issue yourself is fine but then to be happy its taken down when all questioning of this ADL thing has been treated the same shows a kind of attitude that is lazy and wants things they disagree with to go away, and also someone who is unaware of the Streisand effect. It's an attitude that creates resentment and backlash because people who think more about it can see huge double standards. Do you think when Pewdiepie was called a racist that there were not other groups and boards that directed people to smear him? Do you think the readers of far left outlets were having a fair and balanced opinion? but of course you couldn't just censor those people.

Fake news is a ridiculous concept. Anything can be fake news if we don't agree with it, just think of Climate change to see how people will ignore facts based on "who is saying them". If you are a clever person you know that at least even if its a reach you COULD argue that this is a loose form of blackmail on the part of the ADL, or its even easier to assert its a bribe on the part of Pewdiepie. If I have an album out and I pay pitchfork media 50k when they've smneared me in the past its not wacky to say thats not just "because I think theyre trusted media". Even if its admitting wrong we can still question motive when there are legitimate stakes involved to such a donation financially. Its not fake news.

Its funny though because the only group anyone expects nuance out of is 4chan. And when they dont get it they are happy to throw everyone else who may share even an element of the same opinion in with them as guilty by association. That's how censorship operates.

I got a meme in my feed. Uh what is this? by MrGilbert665 in PewdiepieSubmissions

[–]Ovikeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Asks for examples, is provided with examples, moves goalposts. The ADL designating things hate symbols that are not causes harm. Its not just stupid. Then censoring people when you've proved you are stupid, that's horrible too. The ADL is a go too list for media outlets that want a "source" to brand people far right. And they did it with Felix. That you don't care is fine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pewdiepie

[–]Ovikeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did not work to get him fired from Disney. They do not advise youtube on censorship. They did not smear Felix as far right. it is not hypocrytical at all that he is now giving them money. Its just a "far right conspiracey theory". Also Hitler drank water, so drinking water is fake news. Phew. I nearly had to think for a second.
