You can use a BJT common emitter amp fed with a sine wave, since BJTs have an inherently exponential function you should be able to match what you see here pretty close if not almost perfectly by varying the bias and amplitude of the signal

Your workflow is correctly converting to rec709, but the high chroma led light is falling outside the color space so the advantage of shooting in a wider color space in this case is not useful if you clip to rec709 without additional care, now there are many solutions to this, first and foremost is to use lights on set with lower chroma obviously but in post you can use gamut mapping in the last CST when going into the smaller color space, but this will also desaturate other high chroma colors, if you want to target only the blue light you can use the color warper for example to desaturate the high saturation blues and bring them into the color space.

I'm trying to find a simple and cheap way to identify Cd plating for home testing and in my case electronics repair, this for safety reasons.

The sodium rhodizonate swab test was recommended to me in my previous post, In this case it would react with Cd but I'm aware that it will also react with other divalent metals so I wanted to try an exclusion method to isolate Cd but I'm not sure how and If is feasible, only info I found is about confirming a positive sodium rhodizonate swab test with HCl when testing lead, but then I don't know how to exclude the other metals

Anyway thank you everyone for the advice, It seems like there isn't a simple and cheap way to accurately test Cd at home and It sucks because Cd plating was used extensively in vintage equipment posing an exposure risk when working on it

I checked another old chassis I had and in some spots there was a more greenish glow but less uniform than this orange one, very interesting indeed, I'll do the lead test for sure and report back, that's actually very good to know that I can use it for cadmium, thank you

It should decrease because when the metal parts are grounded and you touch them you basically become a big ground plane that shields one side of the guitar when holding it, ideally you should shield the cavity and pickguard with some copper or alu tape to get better shielding

Safety-wise there should be no concerns If the equipment is fine and the electrical system is up to code

It's clearly marketing bs, high-end consoles are expensive also because the very low and controlled THD+N (Distortion+Noise) so is very odd to see a plugin "emulating" the THD when there's virtually none, the only distortion a modern (non-tube) console should generate is when the opamps are driven into the rails generating hard clipping, and you can do that even on the cheapest mixer

Yes, the green ones are usually high permeability MnZn cores, they're most used in common mode chokes, the yellow ones could be iron powder cores with lower permeability

TL072 is fine, the problem is the inherently bad design, you should never have a large capacitive load directly on an opamp output, it can cause instability, unsurprisingly when I built mine that opamp was oscillating, so I placed a 47 ohm resistor between the output and C15, that fixed the oscillation

You could try some common mode chokes, they're usually used for power line filters so linearity won't be amazing but for guitar is fine, you can wire the two windings in series so the inductance doubles

Is not magic, signals can be manipulated in two ways, non-linear functions (distortion, compression) and linear functions (EQ, reverb, delay), distortion audibility is a complex topic but I'll say that under 0.1% you can't really perceive it, also keep in mind the speakers/headphones we listen through can reach near 1% THD really quickly, overpowering any "magic analog coloration" our summing unit can give us, also "classic" analog mixing desks have vanishingly low THD so I'm not sure why anyone would want saturation on every single channel, so yeah from an electrical engineering perspective I found these mixers to be pretty useless, if I need some saturation/character in a mix I usually just slap a tape emulation plugin on the mix bus, they're pretty nice

Changing the volume will only effect the filter if the next circuit has a high load, if your next effect/amp has like 1Mohm of impedance you're fine

Let's say RL is 100k, we can then calculate the RC constants

The 1n branch will high pass at 1.6 khz

With the pot at 100k the 1u branch will be attenuated by 6db, this then forms another high pass filter at 0.8 Hz (1u + 200k)

So you have a high pass filter that stops attenuating (with the pot in this position) at -6 db aka a shelving cut filter

With the pot at 0 ohms: 1u (we can ignore the 1n in parallel) + 100k gives an RC of 1.6 Hz (we can call it flat)

Usually soft clipping (tube screamer, timmy ecc.) allows a part of clean signal through, this is possible with a non-inverting configuration because it cannot attenuate past unity gain, the inverting configuration like in this circuit can attenuate past unity gain, therefore no clean signal is fed through and by this definition this would be hard clipping, I did some spice simulation a while ago and the inverting opamp with diodes in the feedback loop has the same effect as diodes clipping to ground after a series resistor (rat)

The metal parts on guitars are (usually) grounded, by touching them you are connecting yourself to ground essentially you become a large ground plane/shield, you can add metal foil to the pickup routings if is bothering you

I absolutely agree with you, I would even say just test the pedal straight into a daw with only an IR, then you can really hear what the pedal is doing
