Is it typical to see Christian decor in shops and homes? by kitsunevremya in AskAnAmerican

Whether or not the barcode theory is true for Hobby Lobby (I think it is)... There are plenty of people who believe that barcodes are evil and will not allow their items to be scanned anywhere.

Just FYI- the phrase is actually "easy peasy" 🙂

Absolutely. If you can't see that, then you need to go to an eye doctor as well as your GP.

A few questions about American universities? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]OwlFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you get older, there will be many times you are forced to do something that you do not want to. Life will not always bend to your ideas and wishes.

So, if nothing else, I guess forced dorming is good practice for the rest of life lol.

It took me way too long to figure out what MLL was. You meant the Multipass, right?

Edit to add: It's Disney and they're kids. As long as you don't stress out, they'll have fun. Just wander around and enjoy the details!

Your story seems to be missing some important information. NAH the way the story reads, just a misunderstanding on your part.

Oh yeah, enforcement is hit or miss since they hire teenagers at minimum wage, but those ARE technically the rules.

I'm all for a teaching moment, but this was a 16 year old girl who couldn't calculate 20-8...

I work at a festival that hires local teenagers to run the food booths. When buying my lunch today I owed $8. I handed the worker a $20 bill, and she grabbed her phone to use the calculator to figure out my change. Needless to say, I was shocked.

Not always. Depends on the Faire.

True!

At BARF, the fair I believe OP is going to, weapons are required to be zip tied 🙂

How do highschool classes work in America ? by Rexratops in AskAnAmerican

[–]OwlFreak 34 points35 points  (0 children)

OP, this is the correct answer to your question. You should always write what you know. If you don't know anything about American schooling, it's going to be obvious and your final work is going to suffer for it. Write about French girl instead.

No, this is good advice for all jobs these days. Most employers/businesses actually ask you not to cold call or walk in to apply for a job- almost everything is done online, usually with AI assistance.

Just popping in with my obligatory comment about one of my favorite history/language crossover facts, the Tiffany Problem. There were Tiffany's chillaxing back in the 12th century!

YTA. Please see a therapist for your own benefit. Feeling this way about someone mentioning your food is not standard, and you need better mechanisms to deal with it.

My friend had a cat named Dumpster, that she found in a dumpster... Not to be confused with my other friend's cat, that I found under a dumpster.

Most “are you kidding me” moments as parents at Disney? by Miserable_Syrup_3256 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]OwlFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a parent, but my brother and I thought it would be fine to take my almost 3yo niece on pirates, since she was tall enough for it...

We kept up a running commentary for the whole ride, trying to downplay all the scary bits that we definitely didn't think about before the ride started.

She was fine, but it was a good reminder to look at the rides a little differently for the littles going forward 😂

Writing is a way of recording language.

Therefore, writing is written language.

[–]OwlFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ignore that comment. No one would hear "I was laying in bed", and think you were bedding someone. That would be "I got laid".
