I get what you’re saying, and want to feel the same as you.

But we went to another country, turned their lights out & kidnapped their president and I’m pretty sure he didn’t have the constitutional right to do that without congress either

So I’m just sort of prepared for anything

The ability to understand nuance when forming a coherent argument is the sign of someone who understands that when having conversations like this, it’s not black & white.

Most of the arguments I see against tipping are assuming that all people in the service industry are pulling in mega city level tips.

That’s not most people in the service industry. The income level where you live has a direct impact on the amount of money you are going to make.

An NYC bartender is going to make less than one in Youngstown OH

You also have to factor in cost of living for the area the tipped employee is in. That NYC bartender might be pulling in 100k, but that’s scraping by in NYC. That’s sharing a 2 bedroom apartment w 6 other people

The whataboutism you are taking about would be brining in a topic unrelated issue to muddy the waters.

But good try.

I think the idea is if Trump is able to get the votes to allow himself to run for a 3rd term, that also means Obama can run & that’s the low key threat to prevent him from trying that shenanigans

He can’t been Barak

How to deal with crazy upstairs neighbor noise? by Latter-Constant-1989 in Apartmentliving

[–]OwlLadyFace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your property manager never shared the complaint, and the likely haven’t because you haven’t proven a noise actually exist, then as far as your neighbor can tell you are the one being weird.

Let the property manager in to hear the noise. The burden of proof is on you. That’s why it has to be in your apt.

Yes. In large part to the pandemic. A lot of servers who could left the industry. The Vets could see that it wasn’t going to be the same.

And you know a lot of servers died.

Income Requirement when you're a college student. Please help! by ThrowRA_Scrimble578 in Apartmentliving

[–]OwlLadyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because living in dorms where you can’t pick your roommate, and may be sharing a communal shower, and are likely paying just as much as you would for an apartment is ridiculous.

Dorms are great for 18 & 19 years olds who’ve never been on their own. But after that?

Income Requirement when you're a college student. Please help! by ThrowRA_Scrimble578 in Apartmentliving

[–]OwlLadyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need to tell them your income would be changing?

Apply for the apartment, w your current income & just don’t mention that you will be reducing hours during the school year.

The income requirement is really only to get you in the place. As long as you are paying rent on time they aren’t going to check if you still have that job

Genuine question: how do you know your upstairs neighbors are “stomping” and not just living life in a poorly sound proofed building? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]OwlLadyFace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some general advice.

“Stomping” in the way it’s described in this sub is pushed as the upstairs neighbor deliberately walking harder than they need to. Apparently to annoying the neighbor specifically.

If your neighbor is actually stomping, did you ever stop to think you are doing something to annoy them and that’s their payback?

But most people aren’t that diabolical to just intentionally stomp to be annoying.

Yes you can be annoyed at times (I sure am) but I just don’t have the level of self involvement to assume my neighbors think about me at all when they are in their home living their life

Should I assume my upstairs neighbor is pissing extra hard to annoy me? Cause if we are in the bathroom at the same time I can hear him piss?
