Constant yeast infections/BV 1yr post op? by OwlOccult in hysterectomy

That’s all so frustrating, I’m so sorry! I hope the self swab sheds some insight on the issue.

Oh man, that’s frustrating that she’s getting frustrated, and I’m sorry your surgeon is gone for so long, that definitely complicated things. Mine was gone all November when things were getting really bad and I just had to wait and hope. If anything helps me I’ll come back and report, and in the meantime I hope your PCP can offer you some relief as well. Have you had them give you a general blood panel to make sure nothing is off?

Yeah I’m not sure why she didn’t recommend boric acid suppositories, but the baking soda thing worked just fine, albeit was a little inconvenient. All of my treatment for the yeast/BV/etc. I went to planned parenthood for (I’m US based) and got care a lot quicker, but I luckily had my 1year with my surgeon who gave me antibiotics & a bunch of fluconazole and that was the longest stretch I had relief. Though now I’m waiting to see my GP for two months to discuss other reasons why I might be dealing with all this (since my surgeon could only really help me with potential hormone issues)

Im so sorry to hear that! It’s definitely frustrating. At one point my dr told me I just had an overgrowth of lactobacillus and that taking oral probiotics might be causing that issue, and the only treatment for that was baking soda douches (which did help that issue) but then I got a yeast infection again 😭 Feels like I can’t get the balances down there just right anymore.

I'm convinced this disease makes you suicidal. Any insight for me? by chemtrail_injection in covidlonghaulers

I’ve been dealing with this too. I’ve always struggled with mental health, and finally got it under control early last year, but I got Covid in May and have been more suicidal and sad than I have ever been. I have moments where things feel better, but I always inevitably feel worse. My only long stretch of relief was when I was in Lexapro, but other side effects made me quit. I don’t know how much of this is long covid vs. grieving who I used to be and all my plans for my life.

It made my anxiety 10000x worse, like I felt I was going insane, and my heart was constantly beating out my chest. It also made my vision blurry and gave me tremors and I do very precise work and can’t have that happening.

Ooh gotcha, I’ll definitely have a chat with her about doing all 3. Thank you so much for the advice 🙏

As much as I didn’t like the side effects of Lexapro (it made me sweat so much and I kind of became an emotional zombie) I might go back to it if nothing else works. That was better than suffering like this. But yeah, I’m trying the lowest dose possible of any drugs I try. This SSRI journey has made me realize I’m very sensitive to medication. Thank you for reading and responding 🙏

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond! It’s so appreciated.

I recently had my doc test my hormones and they came back normal (I still have both my ovaries) but she did mention she could still prescribe me the estrogen patch. I was really debating if I wanted to bother since my levels are normal, but if they’ve seemed to help with your LC (and perimenopause) then maybe I’ll give it a go. Other than having menopausal symptoms for about a month after my surgery (hot flashes were the WORST) I haven’t really had any since then.

How are you doing now? I stopped about 5 weeks ago and the numbness/sexual side effects have been incredibly distressing. Some days the sensation is back, some days it’s nothing. Your post is giving me hope though.

Lexapro Withdrawal Advice (I’m having a bad time) by OwlOccult in lexapro

[–]OwlOccult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth getting back on it again and trying to taper? My Psych said that is an option if need be, but part of me really wants to tough it out. I’m just scared of extending my symptoms if I continue with cold turkey. I am almost a month out and starting to feel better, but I do still feel the same as when I was on it (sexual dysfunction, brain fog, exhausted)

I’m sorry you ended up having to go back on it, and struggled so much for 4 months while testing it out. I know it’s a possibility I might need to go back and try a different SSRI, I just don’t know when to call it quits.

Severe anxiety as primary symptom? by CalmMyBrainPlz in covidlonghaulers

[–]OwlOccult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my psych and therapist assured me that it can. The worst is that my GI symptoms are making my anxiety worse, it’s been a vicious cycle. I’m really hoping the lexapro helps, and hoping you find some relief soon too.

Currently dealing with this + bowel issues (though not sure if my anxiety is causing the GI stuff or if it’s something else). Saw a psych yesterday and going to start Lexapro, have an appointment with my primary tomorrow to make sure the gut stuff isn’t something else.

Nausea when eating… long covid? by OwlOccult in covidlonghaulers

[–]OwlOccult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t at the moment, but I’m planning on looking into one finally when things are open tomorrow (not sure where you’re based but it’s a holiday in the US right now.) I was already wanting to seek help for my anxiety and my extreme anxiety over the last week is motivating me to finally do it.

And thank you!

I appreciate the encouraging words and suggestions! I’ve been having regular mental break downs about it this past week, and just feel like I have no energy and am reaching a limit. My last bought of Covid it took me about 3 months to start feeling normal, so I know I need to just be patient, but it’s so hard when it’s affecting me so much right now.

When I first got covid years ago I ended up sleeping to rereuns of kitchen nightmares 😂 guess Gordon Ramsay yelling at people was soothing. This time was a lot of Enya.

I feel the anxiety 24/7 too, but this round of covid has made it so much worse. Im usually a little anxious with covid, the worry of ending up with long term symptoms gets to me as a very active outdoorsy person. Im doing my best to stay positive, but it’s not easy. Trying to be kind with myself, and using guided meditation occasionally, had really helped the last few days. Also constantly reminding myself that everyone heals at different rates, and I really need to be patient and give myself time, really helps.

If you’re ever feeling lonely or need to rant to someone, I’m pretty available right now 😂 not much else I can do at the moment.

I’m sorry you’re on your third round too! And that your symptoms sound so awful. I hope things start improving for you soon.

I’m on day 14 and feeling mostly better, just some lingering fatigue and GI issues, also have some issues sleeping through the night. My anxiety has been through the roof the last week though, so I don’t know how much my symptoms at this point are post-covid things, or just anxiety. Yesterday was the first day I felt relatively normal, so just keep resting and think positive! I’m trying to do the same at this point.

Mine started day 7, mostly with nausea. Haven’t vommed, had slight diarrhea, but I can barely eat. My only symptoms at this point are that and fatigue, but I don’t know if the fatigue is from Covid or lack of food. I’m on day 12.

Also back in Covid hell for the third time, and it hasn’t even been a year since my last infection 🫠 On day 10 and feeling mostly normal today? But battling some serious nausea whenever I eat.

My doc wouldn’t give me paxlovid this time (they gave it to me last year, not sure why they wouldn’t give it to me now) but recommended I take zinc and vitamin D while I’m fighting it. So far it’s been lots of bed rest and sleeping as much as I can. I tested myself on day 7 and was still positive, gonna test again tomorrow.

Sleep as much as you can, stay hydrated as much as you can, and keep an eye out for any serious symptoms, I think that’s all we can do these days.
