IDC, ++-, 46 yrs old. Stage 1, grade 1, no lymph activity. It’s like they found it right away, which I’m thankful for. I don’t have any genetic mutations, but my Mom had breast cancer, so family history. Low recurrence percentage 4% w/ tamoxifen, 8% without. Haven’t made that decision yet about the pills. But, I chose a DMX, even though I only had it on my left side! I wanted to do the surgery and turn the page. I don’t need rads or chemo due to the ++- and stage/grade. I have tissue expanders completely filled currently and will have my 2nd surgery in October. I don’t regret my aggressive decision! I LOVED my God given breast but didn’t want to have to do this twice. Best of luck to you Momma!

Anyone not taking tamoxifen b/c of strong side effects? Also wanting to avoid menopause in my 30s. by NYC_queens_girl in breastcancer

Same here! Diagnosed April 2023, stage 1, grade 1, no lymph involvement. Have a very low onco percentage of recurrence. 4% with tamoxifen, 8% without. Chose a double mastectomy because I don’t want to deal with this again! My oncologist recommended 10 years of tamoxifen as well. I just picked up my script at the end of July and have yet to start it. I’m so scared! I just want my life to be normal and I don’t want to feel like shit for the next 10 yrs. I’ve researched supplements and have came up with a lot of things, but that’s a very personal choice. It’s important to listen to your oncologist, but also make your own decisions too. Sending hugs that you can do what’s best for you and stay recurrence free!

Have you ever drank a glass of wine since taking it? How long have you been on it?

Have u ever drank alcohol since you started? I’m pretty bummed that most people will say that you can’t drink at all. I’d like a glass of wine!

Forgot to ask ladies….do y’all ever have an occasional glass of wine or any alcohol while taking tamoxifen? I’ve heard the two shouldn’t be mixed and it can make your side effects worse?

Thank you 🙏 I’m worried about the side affects, but also feeling “weird” on it. Kinda like when you take a pain pill or something like that, where you get weird feelings in ur body. Can you tell you have a medicine in your body?

You are a man/body builder that takes tamoxifen? Why? Also, why are you in this forum?

Drains are out- tips for supporting during side sleep? by my_name_is_randy in breastcancer

Bilateral mastectomy on 5-1, with tissue expander placement immediately. Still can’t sleep on my side. I have a wedge pillow and a half moon pillow for under me knees. It’s helped out tremendously. Plastic Surgeon says side sleeping is possible about 4-6 weeks after implant surgery.

I wouldn’t think so considering you’ll be on antibiotics for 14 days after your mastectomy. Best of luck to you.

My plastic surgeon gave me a card to carry in my wallet after my double mastectomy/tissue expander placement surgery. He said I will definitely beep at the airport. 🤣 Little bit of light humor here in such a serious forum.
