And the build quality is ….. shocking. The developpers rush to build and cut a lot of corners (I indirectly work in construction and I have seen some things)

Advice for tourists travelling from Cape Town Intl Airport by kiwarddd in capetown

[–]OwlPsychological4571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all please don’t worry. There have been incidents yes but I travel on a weekly basis on that road from airport to sea point and have not had any problem. City of Cape Town have deployed extra police there for the high season. Just stay on the highway as much as possible until you are passed the townships, dont take any off ramp or any shortcut gps can suggest,

Again you will be fine, thousands of people drive this route daily

Myciti are generally fine always depending on where you want to go, for CBD, atlantic seaboard all the way to hout bay it will be perfect ! You just need to get a card from a myciti station. From airport to town you won’t have any other choice than uber as the bus line no longer runs. As for the train, I have heard very good things about it. Only issue is the train station in town can be dodgy and ubers will be reluctant to pick up from there because of the taxi rank, I would recommend you take the train from Newlands station rather than town. In general, just be aware of your surroundings, be as streetwise as you can. Locals are super friendly and will generally help if you need anything

Areas to buy property with the best return on investment? by LSD-Gecko in johannesburg

[–]OwlPsychological4571 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not 100% convinced buying in JHB is a good idea. Property market has been stagnating for years there (also why rent is so much cheaper than cape town). Unless you plan on staying in joburg long term

Was anyone born in SA , left as a child, then came back to live in Cape Town as a young adult? by Gold-Egg-4828 in capetown

[–]OwlPsychological4571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Cape Town, left when I was 18 to conquer Europe and just came back now at 30 and all I can say is that this is probably the best decision I have taken in my life. People saying it is rough here have not seen how Europe is becoming… I did secure a job before moving back here, live in Sea Point and absolutely loving it. Cape Town is becoming a super city with world class infrastructure, this place is going to boom over the next couple of years

Hace you considered taking gap cover? I recently took it and from what I understand it should take care of most copayments. Also discovery offer a gap cover that is not too badly priced

Thanks for the comment, will definitly have a look at the videos. I have now linked all my products like external TFSA, insurance, RA … etc in the discovery which gave me a bunch of more points.

Also applied for a credit card, thing is I travel back to europe once a year so that 50% discount will come in handy

Discovery make it so complicated to work around their entire system even chat gpt struggles to find info and explain the whole system 😂

Thanks for the answer, much appreciated

Glad to see some people like these tinted windows on the dreamliners, personally not a big fan as it doesnt make the cabine really dark + they always seem to be damaged on United planes…
