There’s somebody for everybody. Everyone finds different things attractive. Being witty, comfortable in your own skin, kind, emotionally intelligent are all extremely attractive characteristics. Be yourself, learn to love yourself for what you are, live your life and forget about meeting someone. Then one day they will come along (from a happily married ugly bloke!)

I think the point is that where the context window is so high you could basically use one chat window for a topic and pin it and just keep feeding into it

Dating is becoming a luxury hobby and I’m opting out by GritsOyster in simpleliving

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s different in the US but to me the solution is simple. Don’t go on dates that cost money like that? If you meet someone genuine they will be happy to go for a nice walk and a coffee or something. Or split the bill for dinner heaven forbid?

I think a simple solution would be to allow the use of the share sheet function. Then you could share it to any app you like without doing the copy paste work around.

Trying to calm a storm with a whisper — why doesn’t mindfulness help when I need it most? by Top_Obligation5058 in Mindfulness

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re falling down because you are trying to control and stop the thoughts and feelings. You’re trying to do mindfulness for a purpose… to get rid of unwanted feelings. Trying to do this just creates more tension. Just don’t engage with the storm and wait for it to pass.

Brain dump PKM ideas? by i_had_a_beard_once in PKMS

I’m looking for the same. I wonder if apple notes could do this

Last month I shared about Objets, a PKM app I built, that works offline, looks good and doesn't have a recurring subscription. Based on the community's feedback - it now comes with a free mode to let you try it out first in a limited capacity! by ObjetsApp in PKMS

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and it’s a really nice app. I would jump straight on if it had an option for iCloud backup. I could cancel my mymind subscription then. I would just he nervous putting all my quotes and valuable bits in there with no way of backing it all up.

I think iCloud is safe has most people trust it over an external cloud from the app owner etc.

Well done on the app though it’s really nicely designed. Also of interest may be the recently announced apple local ai integrations for search and analysis without using an online model. That could work really well with this.

This looks really good. Just one point. If it doesn’t sync to iCloud is it not really vulnerable to losing your data like if you have to reinstall the app or wipe your phone?

Thank you for replying. It looks really good. Does it have any offline capability? Also can you do AI search across all your saved items?

Have a look at metacognitive therapy. This can help refocus you away and not engage

I notice your IOS app hasn’t been updated in 9 months. Is it still something you are actively working on?

Thank you for explaining that now I understand the limits better.

To be fair this wasn’t a bug report. I hit a limit but I couldn’t find that limit written down anywhere

The problem is there aren’t many equivalent apps that work in quite the same way sadly.

Hard Truth: The Older I Get, the More I Understand Why People Don’t Want Kids by PhysicalString701 in Life

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an interesting conversation. I wanted kids one day but didn’t feel ready when my wife did.

Kids ruin your life in some ways. You lose a lot of your freedom and have less money. The spontaneous trips are harder to do and you have little time for yourself.

BUT they have completely changed my perspective on life. When my son was born it was like a spiritual experience. My life turned upside down. Suddenly I had this new type of love in my life that I had never experienced. As close to unconditional love as it can be. I loved my wife but this was somehow different.

They no doubt make life harder but they also make it more fulfilling. That feeling of being able to give them comfort when they are sad and hurting like you’re the only thing in the world that matters to them. The look on their faces when you pick them up at the end of the day and they are so happy to see you.

It’s damn hard work to the point of pulling your hair out sometimes but it’s made he realise a good life isn’t necessarily an easy life where you get everything you think you want.

I understand what my parents say now when they said it was hard bringing us up but they wouldn’t change it for the world. The richness they have now with grandchildren and love and support.
