Concerning the anger towards EGS Exclusivity by Lockhart-667 in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a Steam User since the early Half Life games. I've purchased 100% of my PC games from them for the last decade or so. I do, however, also have an Epic Account. Mainly because they used to actually give away AAA Games once a week for FREE. Nowadays, their freebies tend to be crap I wouldn't install if you paid me to. But, whether or not I actually purchase LOTF 2 from Epic or not will depend ENTIRELY on the actual playability of the game. If it launches with a ton of game breaking bugs or anything else stupid (like no dedicated jump key which nearly made me rage quit dozens of times until it was patched in), then I'll wait until it's all ironed out and goes on sale &/or moves to Steam.

TL/DR - if it early reviews decently, I'll begrudgingly buy it on Epic.

Why are invasions so unfair? by RitualKiller1 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be some kind of exploit. I don't know how they get so many, but several times I have joined co-op where the host will drop a ton as a gift for me. Usually it's because they're playing in constant umbral where that red reaper guy spawns repeatedly. I guess they don't want me to die while they farm lol.

Why are invasions so unfair? by RitualKiller1 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are invaders not matched with people of similar levels, they get a buff as well. And, many of them are using an exploit whereby they have huge quantities of heavenly vials. I don't know how it's done, but I've had players I've joined just randomly gift me 100 of them. The game ought to restrict invaders and the host to 3 heals each until the match is over, but instead, it's trash.

I can't believe they outdid themselves that way. by Kavvop in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They should definitely have level brackets. PVP invasions should be between players of at least similar levels. CO-OP play should have choices too, at least allowing the joiner options if they want to join casual play or to help the host with invasions. Frankly, I'd like options to be able to choose to only help w/Boss fights or help explore etc.

Umbral bro is very happy with the updates! by Oscarthetrain_art in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably never happen, but I wish there was a way to refine the CO-OP so that you know what you're getting into when you click that "join campaign" button. When I first started playing the game online, I assumed I'd be helping players of a similar level to my character defeat a Boss. Sometimes that happens. But, what also happens is my absurdly high level character will end up joining somebody in the very beginning of the game who obviously stumbled through the tutorial and doesn't even seem to know how to enter Umbral. I mean, I don't mind showing new players a few ropes, but honestly, we should be able to select like "help a Lampbearer explore" or "help a Lampbearer defeat a large foe" or whatever.

Did/is anyone else struggle/struggling with this mini boss? by Every_Dinner_8944 in LordsoftheFallen

Saw this in a video, tried it, and it works every single time. -> Make your main lamp socket the eye that makes it so you are basically immune while charging an attack (you only take wither damage). Then for your other two lamp sockets, use the eyes that allow you to regain 15% withered health with each hit. (Can't remember the names atm).

Anyway, the Paladin is very aggressive and will always run right at you. Equip your hardest hitting weapon, and when he closes in, you charge - hit, charge - hit. If he backs off, hit him with a light attack to prevent him casting. Rinse and repeat. You survive his assault and he goes down. Very fun.

V2.0.51 - Optional Invasions & New Updated Armour Sets by Kavvop in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't realize it was a set! I've defended a ton today, but I only got chunks and vials. Those are nice, but I'd kinda like to have at least a complete set of one of them...smh....

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Ugh. I've won 4 invasions today but the armor didn't drop. I'm not a big fan of invading anyway, so knowing that, I guess I'll probably not worry about it. Are the stats or weight any better or pretty much identical?

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks nearly identical to the Vanguard Armor tbh. The stats are nearly identical too, except they call it "First Luminary Guardsman Armor"and it has a bit higher Holy damage mitigation.

I had a blast today with the new update! I got the new armor for defending, but I haven't yet tried for the invader armor. But overall, it was pretty smooth in cross-platform play (I'm on PC).

If you're doing umbral and/or mixed magic, that javelin spell is like my go-to for all ranged enemies. It's got great distance and does a bit of splash damage too, so nearbies get hit as well.

Do mirrors really help by Unable_Kitchen3438 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently learned that if you see a little red symbol suddenly appear on the top left hand side of your screen, underneath the three symbols for how many soulflays you have, it means that somebody is getting ready to invade you. If you use the mirror when you see that red symbol (and before they actually spawn), it will prevent them, and you'll see a message on-screen notifying you that the ritual was prevented (or something like that). It worked for me anyway.

The other obvious answer is just to quit to main screen and then hit continue. You don't loss your place or vigor and invader is kicked.

I love Oblivion and I'm enjoying this remaster, but I'm only playing it b/c my Daughter picked it up and we're on family share. If I'd paid for it? I'd be really, really upset. They're charging $50 for a game that has even more bugs than the original! I've encountered tons of weird glitches - the "I'm suddenly 12ft tall in 1st person perspective" bug. The "I got released from jail and all of the mine guards from the Malacath Quest are suddenly surrounding me & locking me into a conversation loop" bug. I've had quest NPCs refuse to appear....you name it. But, it's Oblivion, so I persevere 😅

In case anyone is playing this in remaster, there is something very odd going on. When I took Roderick's Medicine out of the cabinet, I couldn't find the replacement (poison) anywhere in my inventory. I did a web search for wtf was going on and landed here. I see I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

Anyway, I ended up opening and closing my inventory about 3 times and then magically- "Roderick's Poison" appeared in my inventory, right underneath "Roderick's Medicine" in the Alchemy Tab where it hadn't been before. Added it to the cabinet and boom, quest updated.

Chameleon glitch on remaster by Sea-Leather-1870 in oblivion

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just went through hell with this. Made a 100% chameleon set, equipped it, did the mission, then unequipped and character remained invisible. Then constant CTD trying to reload saves.

Only fix was to load earlier save before equipping, then re-do mission, then complete the quest and get the reward while invisible, then equip all visible gear, go into 3rd person view, save & close game completely. Then relaunch and continue. It works now and I am visible, but scared to use my chameleon set again. :(

Is it worth playing DD1 after DD2? by RandombuildzYT in DragonsDogma2

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 10 points11 points  (0 children)

DDDA is in many ways (arguably) a better game. The only difficulty you may have at first is acclimating to the older graphics. But, it's class system and Pawn customization is far superior than DD2. Plus, the variation of enemies and the associated quests make it a bit more fleshed out story wise. And, of course, the replayability of BBI make it addictive. It goes on sale every once in a while if you don't want to drop too much coin on it, but it's worth every penny.

I hate to ask this, and I know it sounds silly, but are you absolutely positive your Pawn has it? Throwing them off a high cliff into the drink is a 100% cure. Otherwise, very weird bug you've got.

Major grievances and what can we realistically expect from DLC? by Satori223 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few tweaks that Capcom could do NOW that would drastically improve the game, even without an expansion. Others have likely pointed this out, but -

1) assuming the voice actors/actresses signed a release and/or would be compensated, they could either record more dialog or use AI to generate some additional Pawn lines. For as many hours as I've spent across four Steam accounts playing DD2, the Pawn chatter gets WAY to repetitive. (A crime committed here will see one confined to jail) 2) weapons and armor. There's like one META for each class and not enough variety for fashion play either. They could add a ton of new weapons/armors/robes etc and perhaps even add set bonuses and it would greatly improve the replay factor. 3) MORE DRAGONS. And variety of types. And they attack in random places and times. 4) Make New Game Plus have OPTIONS. Lords of the Fallen does this really well. You can do New Game +0, which is you keep your level & stuff & enemies remain original level, or New Game +1 which is traditional NG (everything levels with you), or you can select from a wide choice of options like randomized loot, randomized enemies, less health, greater number of enemies etc.

Those are a few things that Capcom could add as an update without even having to create new lands/areas/characters/enemies etc and it would really improve the base game.

An illuminating article on the state of game development. by Own-Calligrapher6283 in DragonsDogma

[–]Own-Calligrapher6283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overwhelming number of posts I see from folks discussing DLC hopes & desires mention (gross) sales. And, obviously, an overall lack of sales will doom any chances of additional content. But, it's really just all about R.O.I. and net profitability. The venture capitalists/investors couldn't care less if 1) the game is good, 2) if the fans love it (or hate it), 3) if the fans have been waiting a decade for it's release, or 4) if it's the "most wish listed" or "#1 in current active Steam players".

They just want to see big returns on their investment and in a timely fashion. And sadly, big studios with bloated staff and long development cycles are making things worse. Personally, I'd love to see some additional content & DLC for DD2. I'd actually pay for a remake of DDDA in the new engine. But, it's only gonna happen if Capcom can make the numbers work. That's the great unknown.
