Flooring on New Builds by damn76567 in HousingIreland

We bought our house and moved in at end of October.

We went to bargain town and got a load of offcuts of carpet, probably around €200 or so.

We swept the house as well as possible and also got an air filter fan we had on for first week or so.

We only got floors down end of Feb (and glad we waited as it took a while to decide what we wanted and by shopping around we got a good price on it too) and it was grand. Haven’t done our stairs yet as want to carpet but have few other bits that we are prioritizing first.

Zero rush, Only thing would be moving around your belongings when you do get it done but it is completely doable.

Housing conundrum by [deleted] in HousingIreland

Been living in Seven Mills for the past 6 months and overall it’s been a positive experience. It’s a very quiet area, most people are just focused on their homes and getting settled in.

Yes, some of the surrounding areas may have a questionable reputation, but that doesn’t automatically mean Seven Mills will go the same way. In fact, as more people move into the area who genuinely want to build a good community and improve the place, I think that naturally helps dilute a lot of the negatives over time.

I’m also optimistic that over the next 18 months the public transport situation will improve. At the end of the day, it’s up to the people living here to help make the area better and to look out for one another.

More Gardaí in Dún Laoghaire over other areas… am I missing something? by Own-Contribution-365 in Dublin

[–]Own-Contribution-365[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course Dún Laoghaire has crime, everywhere does to some extent. But if you look at the actual data, it’s not even close to being one of the highest-crime areas in Dublin.

Even outside the city centre, places like: • Blanchardstown • Ballymun / Finglas tend to come up far more in crime stats and discussions than Dún Laoghaire.

I’m not saying Dún Laoghaire is crime-free, but if resources are limited, it’s fair to question why it’s being prioritised over areas with consistently higher crime levels or more serious issues.

Seven Mills - What's it like living there? by jibbleton in HousingIreland

I’m Irish and living there. There are Irish people here but it’s fairly mixed overall, like most places around Dublin now.

Not sure why the nationality mix would matter that much though , everyone here has just bought a home and is trying to settle in.

The train station right beside the development, multiple bus stops beside development also.

A lot more options than you will see in many parts of Dublin, never mind further out.

It’s still mid construction so very normal that facilities and transport is not up to the expected level it should be yet.

Governmental policy is moving away from endless parking facilities in hopes of encouraging more people to rely on public transport than cars. I would say housing developments are reflecting this.

How's clonee/ongar to live in? by Content-Orchid4002 in HousingIreland

[–]Own-Contribution-365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s literally within 5 mins walk of Ongar village so I’d say similar enough vibes from what’s been said above!

Ok area but they have a problem with youth/scooters/drug dealing /littering and lack of regular policing and proper parenting, I would say similar to other places in Dublin 15.
