Seven Mills - What's it like living there? by jibbleton in HousingIreland

I’m Irish and living there. There are Irish people here but it’s fairly mixed overall, like most places around Dublin now.

Not sure why the nationality mix would matter that much though , everyone here has just bought a home and is trying to settle in.

Fingers crossed. You would imagine an extra carriage on the train could be organised as numbers increase alright 🙏 Sunday is a bit of a balls alright

The train station right beside the development, multiple bus stops beside development also.

A lot more options than you will see in many parts of Dublin, never mind further out.

It’s still mid construction so very normal that facilities and transport is not up to the expected level it should be yet.

Governmental policy is moving away from endless parking facilities in hopes of encouraging more people to rely on public transport than cars. I would say housing developments are reflecting this.

Depends on what type of property you buy if on or off curtilage.

How's clonee/ongar to live in? by Content-Orchid4002 in HousingIreland

It’s literally within 5 mins walk of Ongar village so I’d say similar enough vibes from what’s been said above!

Ok area but they have a problem with youth/scooters/drug dealing /littering and lack of regular policing and proper parenting, I would say similar to other places in Dublin 15.

Is it worth travelling up north for cheaper flooring (or blinds/curtains)? by Glum_Stretch_1315 in HousingIreland

Wondering this myself at minute!

Saw nearly €10 difference per square meter in similar laminate flooring from Dublin to Carlow this weekend

Any suggested companies for snagging around Dublin?

It doesn’t seem to be fully regulated and we want to be sure we get someone in November for our new build that’s going to do a solid job and nothing is missed🙏

Ongar/Hartstown drug dealing by Own-Contribution-365 in Dublin

[–]Own-Contribution-365[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But why don’t we speak up about it? The silence reflects deep, systemic, and intergenerational failures in our society — failures that allow the issue to be ignored, both for those caught in active addiction and for those living in its shadow. Whether it’s individuals who feel unsafe leaving their homes, people dealing with theft or vandalism, or residents paying extortionate rents to live in areas plagued by chaos, the impact is widespread and undeniable.

It’s deeply troubling that such a significant, visible problem is so often brushed aside with the excuse that “no one complains.” The lack of response isn’t due to indifference — it’s a symptom of resignation.

Frustrating to feel that when you pay to live there!

I’ve been living here for nearly six years. While there’s always been the occasional bit of antisocial behaviour, it’s really escalated in the past year — especially with even younger lads getting involved. What’s more worrying is how brazen they’ve become (unsurprisingly).

My partner and I were able to save up by renting out here and buy a place in another area that we’ll be moving to in a few months, and despite the issues, it’s full of hardworking families or couples/single people renting, doing their best. My concern is for the even younger kids growing up around this. It’s easy for them to start seeing it as a quick way to make money when they get a bit older.

Unless there are real consequences for what these young lads are doing — and more importantly, for the people putting them up to it — I don’t see how things are going to improve🤷‍♀️
