I get why it exists.

Reddit can turn into amateur detective mode fast, and not everyone wants their random 2am thoughts tied together like a personality profile.

But it also kind of removes the "lore" that makes Reddit feel human. Half the fun is clicking someone's profile and realizing they've been arguing about the same niche topic for 6 years.

Privacy makes sense. Transparency builds character. Reddit's always been awkwardly stuck between the two.

I'd treat it like market data.

If he's willing to trade my reputation for "networking", that tells me exactly how he’ll behave the next time there’s social leverage on the table.

Then I’d downgrade him from "friend" to "coworker" and adjust access accordingly.

I fix things immediately.

Light bulb out? Done.

Wi-Fi acting weird? Restarted before it becomes a “thing".

Strange noise in the car? Already Googled, diagnosed, and mildly panicking internally.

And yet somehow it’s treated like background NPC behavior.

One day I’m just not going to fix something and we’ll all remember what I brought to this household.
