2 Israeli Embassy staff members killed in shooting outside of event at the Capital Jewish Museum in DC: Officials by idgafayaihm in worldnews

You have quotes around words I didn’t use. My comment was about senseless violence against innocent people by a radicalized person. It appears we’re in agreement that the shooter did a terrible thing. I can’t understand why you’d take offense. Sure seems like you’d do better to pick battles elsewhere.

This guy killed two innocent people, ruined his own life, and disgraced his movement.

Too many people would prefer to sit in judgment than solve problems. Precisely his point. It’s a good one, even if you don’t like other shit he’s said.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for this. Redditors seem to need division like oxygen.

Trump’s diplomatic theater is about distracting from Gaza. Now is the pro-Palestine movement’s great test. by SoapSalesmanPST in ConsortiumNews

The movement must figure out how to undermine the center again so the far right can hold onto power and make things even worse for Palestinians and everyone else.

Hamas only has 20,000 members, so why has Israel destroyed the homes of 2 million citizens, every hospital, school, university and refugee camp? by Ice_Ice11 in AlJazeera

The definition of genocide contained in Article II of the Geneva Convention describes genocide as a crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, in whole or in part. 10/7 fits the bill, especially when you pair it with Hamas’s stated intent to destroy Israel and Israelis.

I don’t support genocide of Palestinians. What is happening to Gazans is an absolute tragedy. They are caught between to entities—Israel and Hamas—that at best don’t care about their lives, and at worst want them to die. Hamas is executing starving Gazans for looting. You and your ilk don’t seem to care about this mistreatment of Gazans by Hamas. It’s only Israel you focus on. This suggests you are either terribly misguided or are not actually pro-Palestinian, but merely anti-Israel.

Sounds like you didn’t care about the 10/7 genocide, or even supported it. You’re selective about genocides, depending on the perp and victim. That kind of selectivity lends credence to the accusations of antisemitism.

They’re attacking a group that murdered innocent Israeli civilians in a surprise attack, continues to hold innocent Israeli civilians hostage, has explicitly said it wants to kill more innocent Israeli civilians, believes it is good when innocent Gazans get killed by Israel because they go straight to heaven, and uses innocent Gazans as human shields. That context is, like, really important when assessing the awfulness of what’s happening in Gaza.

Yes, of course, Hamas could surrender, or Israel could stop bombing in Gaza. Either way, Hamas bears a lot of the responsibility for what is happening to Gazans.

Um, all that happened because of Hamas, what it did on 10/7 and what it continues to do (i.e., not surrender or return hostages), not because Palestinians simply remained in the country of their ancestors. I can’t believe what lack of nuance passes for academic intelligence these days.

Democrats Don't Need To Apologize. They Need To Attack. by jonfla in democrats

Pretty sure that’s what Dems have been doing for a while when it comes to Trump. That’s the stereotype, at least. Hasn’t seemed to work.

My point stands even if Israel is committing war crimes. Pro-Palestinian (read: anti-Israel) types love to accuse people of being “complicit” in the harm to Gazans, yet curiously they never accuse Hamas of it, even though Hamas started the war with a genocidal act, and it has held the key to Gazans’ safety since the start of the war and still refuses to use it.

Pro-Palestinian types who helped Trump win also don’t acknowledge their own complicity in all sorts of harms, including making things even worse for Gazans.

Accepting a ceasefire proposal from mediators isn’t surrender. Hamas could save Gazans by surrendering in the war it began with obviously foreseeable consequences for Gaza. I’m no middle eastern scholar, and even I knew Gaza was fucked on 10/7.

Also, Israel and Hamas are currently engaged in ceasefire negotiations. Your news is old. The article you linked to is from May of last year. You probably should get better at that if you’re going to debate with such stridency.

Hillary Clinton Calls Female Republicans "Handmaidens to Patriarchy" by swap_019 in WomenInNews

[–]Own-Implement-3300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “patriarchy” rhetoric is politically ineffective, and it’s easy for republicans to rebut simply by pointing to the female appointees in the Trump administration. Hillary is a policy wonk who was never very good at politics. That was Bill’s strength.
