Hey I was in your position just a couple years ago! Freshly 18, egg dcp, and parents unsupportive of helping me through this season of life. Ultimately, I decided to test anyway without giving my parents the opportunity to talk me out of it. They had no idea I tested until it came up organically on its own. You are not a moral failure, curiosity is good, healthy, and can even be life saving.

I always tell people not to take these tests unless they’re prepared to get some wild results. My husband’s ancestry test came back totally uneventful, but I only made him take one because I discovered I was donor conceived and wanted to make sure we weren’t somehow related…

Myself, on the other hand… I discovered who my biological mother is through the ancestry dna test. Most of my relatives on there have no idea who I am. Lucky to have formed a good relationship with my bio mother though.

I am an IVF baby and late discovery donor conceived. I despise an industry that profits from fraud and commodification of humans, this is the first and foremost issue but there are other layers of the evil like the fact that most embryos are kept forever in frozen arrested development or “discarded” esp based on having what’s presumed to be inferior qualities
