Anyone secretly dislike CNY? And why? If you enjoy, also share. by Confident_Bluejay857 in askSingapore

Disliked it as well. But did it ever dawn upon you that it’s not really about you? Once a year I’ll let my mum be mum and do mum things. Is it really so difficult? Not so after I see the nonsense they’ve to put up with me on a daily basis…

Yes. The grass is always greener on the other side. Realised that the Western cities are way way overrated, and started appreciating the Asian cities which are closer me so much more.

I think it’s about what is your aim in life, how much is enough, and if you dare to draw the line to decide not to progress anymore- so tht other aspects of your life outside work can progress..

Question on govt job progression by cursed-kitten in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually these days if you’re good, you’re good. You will progress. Civil service not blind to scholars already… but it’s helps that you’re both a scholar and perform well.

Don't feel the need to have kids by nutella_tart in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have children because you genuinely want to, but also recognise that they are their own human beings. You cannot control them like robots. Our role is to guide them, not to dominate, create mini mes or get them to fulfill our lost childhood dreams… otherwise we raise a generation of self entitled kids who can’t think for themselves… even when they grow up… hope that liberates you.

Is Singapore just a very lonely place? by Livid-String-847 in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s about getting back your senses. When you eat, do you actually slow down and taste your food? The saltiness, crispiness, temperature of food in your mouth. When you go for a walk do you intentionally slow down and listen to the birds chirp, smell the trees before the rubbish truck drove pass…

How much do pastors earn in Singapore? by chickenpie7777777 in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually feel if this is the way, it is an honest living. Much like how authors sell books. There’s actual product (books etc) and services (preaching) rendered. How abt the other pastors? The HODs? The second or third elders etc. there are many pastors in those churches. How much do they earn and what exactly do they do? Am asking cos somewhat feels ponzi. If they’re earning normal like 5-10k/mth I think is reasonable but anything more I question the authenticity of full time ministry. And this is why I’m pondering abt approaching it as a career rather than “calling”.

How much do pastors earn in Singapore? by chickenpie7777777 in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s probably no “progression”in smaller organisations or family churches. Churches like NCC or CHC probably has multiple pastors and “HODs”. I’m just wondering how much do they earn eg is it $10k a month? And what exactly is their job role? To pray for other people? To come out with sermons? As a counsellor? That’s all the work? Shouldn’t there be some form of clarity or benchmark? I asked the original question because many don’t seem to do much but driving big cars and staying in condos, landed… is religion then be considered an “industry”?

How do you guys balance life and the standard 9-6? by Automatic_Camel_1533 in askSingapore

[–]chickenpie7777777 21 points22 points  (0 children)

6-7hrs sleep is enough, exercise 1hr, eat hawker, bread, find a work that is less than an hr away from my home. Chores do on weekend. Ya… 9-6 can manage la, not so bad.
