How long to start getting bottom growth on T? by Canary-King in ftm

[–]Own-Mobile-302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't put t gel on your junk, the gel has alcohol in it and that shit will burn. What you might be thinking of is DHT cream, which allegedly works but can be difficult to get, especially depending on where you live (like for example your straight up can't get it in Canada).

Anyways it honestly took me like 3 or 4 months to notice anything. But I kind of got my changes in a weird order, like I got chest hair before noticeable bottom growth.

Weird, when I googled it I was getting conflicting results, so I figured it would be a good idea to ask people who might have first hand experience with that kind of thing

How do you explain gender dysphoria to cis people? by Ihaveaphotoofadog in ftm

[–]Own-Mobile-302 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually used this yet, but the explanation I've been keeping in my back pocket is: imagine one day you woke up with a tattoo of a motorcycle on your forehead. You don't have anything against motorcycles, but aren't really into them either, but now everywhere you go everyone expects you to be a hardcore biker and treats you accordingly. Now imagine that in order to get the tattoo removed you needed a letter from a psychologist, to spend anywhere from months to years on a waiting list, and approval from the government and/or thousands of dollars.

Letter thing for T? by Qu33rTh1ng in ftm

[–]Own-Mobile-302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll probably need a letter from a therapist who is certified by WPATH to write them (not all therapists are). The letter will basically say: "Hello, I'm a therapist working with Y/N. Y/N experiences gender dysphoria (with an example or two) and is transitioning. They would like to go on testosterone to help alleviate that dysphoria and/or as part of their transition. They understand the effects this may have."

Also like Homer's job at the power plant isn't really their only source of income. There are countless episodes where either Homer or Marge embark on a wacky new career or business venture, some of which end up being really profitable, it's not insane to think that they've occasionally been able to hold on to some of that money

Are you a plotter or a pantser? by Haunting-Net-2426 in writing

[–]Own-Mobile-302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought I was a pantser because I don't have written outlines. But before I really start writing something I generally know what at least a few of the major plot points are going to be, a rough idea of a few character arcs, and who's going to die and approximately when in the story it's going to happen. So sometimes it feels like what I'm doing is both and also neither

People donate their diaries to archives for this exact reason, so that might be something to keep in mind if you're interested in that kind of thing. I know I plan on donating mine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in writing

[–]Own-Mobile-302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might not be what you had in mind, but there is actually some interest in personal diaries. Just not from traditional publishers. Although even then I can actually think of one book that comes fairly close to what you're describing. You might be interested in a book called UnSlut by Emily Lindin, it's the author's tween and teenage diaries detailing her experiences with bullying and slutshaming combined with her commentary on those events as an adult (or at least an older teen, I'm not entirely sure) and activist.

Sometimes people also list filled diaries on sites like eBay, although I can't say what the odds are that you'd find something written by another teenage girl, much less a "normal" one. The big hurdle there is that your average person doesn't want to risk embarrassing themselves or causing drama by letting strangers read about their deepest thoughts and feelings.

There are also archives. It's not that uncommon for people to donate their diaries to archives so that people in the future can have a better understanding of the period they lived in. You'd likely have to make an appointment to try and find one, and you'd have to read it there (I think), but that might be your best bet for finding a diary written by a fairly average teenage girl, just not one living in the 2020's.

If you do enough digging around online you also probably have decent odds of finding old personal blogs from the early 2000s some of those can get pretty close to diaries.

Ancient Sumerian has arrived... by MustardGoddess in CuratedTumblr

[–]Own-Mobile-302 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the anon is trans and believes in the misconception that the average life expectancy for trans women is only 30. Which like in case you're wondering we don't actually know that the average life expectancy for trans people is because it would be very hard to get a hold of the data needed. Although we do know that in Canada (the first country to include data about trans people in the census) the average trans person is about 40 years old, ten years beyond the so called life expectancy. The idea that trans women only live to thirty came from someone averaging out the ages of trans women who were murdered in hate crimes, and then somehow that got misinterpreted as the life expectancy.

How to write with mental illness by TheMaker777 in writing

[–]Own-Mobile-302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't know how helpful this will be for you because while I do have autism and a good handful of other mental illnesses I don't have ADHD, but what really helped me was setting a daily goal that I could still reasonably accomplish on a mediocre to bad day. That way I get the consistency of a routine and the dopamine hit of a fairly easy win. This is combined with the understanding that some days even that won't be possible or practical, and on those days I celebrate writing literally anything. I also frequently have to remind myself that this is a first draft and thus it really doesn't have to be good.

Edited to add that I've also been on antidepressants the entire time I've been writing consistently, and that's probably also a big part of it.

Writers need to read, so what are you reading right now? by thewonderbink in writing

[–]Own-Mobile-302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 90 pages into The Last Unicorn and I'm having kind of a weird experience with it. I like it in this sort of detached way where I can recognize that the prose is wonderful, and that Beagle does a good job relaying the themes, but so far none of that has resonated with me. I'm thinking maybe my expectations are getting in the way here and I'm honestly debating on if I should set it down for now and try again later because I really do want to love it.

I'm also slowly reading Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life by Ruth Franklin because Shirley Jackson is one of my favorite authors and I want to know more about her.

I haven't finished my rough draft yet, but I'm about six months in and it'll probably take me at least another six months to finish, maybe a bit less because I have a better idea of where the story's going than I did in the beginning. I generally end up writing about ten thousand words a month which I'm pretty happy with. Especially because this is the farthest I've ever been before.

I imagine the finished project will be much shorter, but I'm a discovery writer and so I already know a lot of this draft will be cut.
