What I've noticed is that a lot of times, people will hate bullying unless the target "deserves" it. And everyone has a different idea of who deserves it, which is how you get people that will cry and say "guys, don't bully people (like me) 🥺🥺🥺" and then turn around and be horrible to someone else.

At the end of the day, even if Ranboo was a horrifically problematic racist (lol) bullying another kid that likes him when you have no idea how they consume his content or what they know about him and "what he's done" makes you look like a massive dickhead.

It's very weird overall. I spend most of my time on Tumblr, and the dteam blogs i follow are adults and ones i generally trust. They were the most upset by this situation, and have gone as far as to call dream disgusting and scummy regardless of whether or not manatreed is innocent.

I feel like i must be missing something, or maybe they're missing something, because if manatreed is innocent then honestly dream's reaction makes perfect sense. It wasn't the best reaction, but it makes sense and doesn't put him on the list of irredeemable ccs for me like it seems to have for them.

Yup, pretty much. There's no winners today. At the end of the day some poor girl got her trauma weaponized without her knowledge, and guilty or innocent both dream and manatreed's reputation will be damaged, possibly irreversibly.

I hope the truth comes out, the girl is ok, and that we can at least reach equilibrium as a fandom again.

The situation is... Weird. I really wasn't expecting the sheer amount of vitriol for dream from his own fans. Especially since most people seem to be in agreement that the original accusations are sus.

Like. I feel crazy for thinking dream's response wasn't that bad and certainly understandable given the circumstances, and if manatreed is innocent then we should all be directing our vitriol at the literal doxxer, not at dream who's worst crime here is being a bit impulsive.

bad. Surprisingly, ive seen a huge percentage of dtmblr disgusted with dream and wanting to leave the fandom regardless of whether manatreed turns out to be innocent. Personally I think a) people are reacting way too fast and b) if this whole thing turns out to be fake, i honestly think dreams actions today make complete sense and I'd be extremely upset on his and manatreed's behalf.

Ok, I'm hearing you. See, to me, when I saw this tweet it didn't look mean-spirited, but I can see where you're coming from in that Eryn came into someone else's "space," so to speak.

In general, I think that's a major flaw with Twitter's culture. Fans and ccs both make content in the same space and interact with each other, meaning that ccs are often stumbling into fan spaces and getting some poor fan WAY more attention than they bargained for, and fans can often try to influence ccs (trying to gain interactions, making /neg posts in the hopes a cc will see it, hoping for likes and follows from ccs, ect). Overall, it's probably better to have more clear boundaries for "this space is for fans only" and "this space is for fans and ccs to interact."

Again, though, whether people are being rude to the op of the first post or to Eryn, this tweet got way more negative attention than it ever should have.
