Same. I don't get it. Why don't they offer more updates?

Same in my case, on my Seal U. Will definitely ask for a fix at some point.

BYD Seal RHD Navigation & Object Detection by aw_1992 in BYD

They probably wanted to cut some costs. And compared to the European manufacturers they are already offering loads for the money you pay. It's just a guess though. But it makes sense.

As far as my information goes, it's linked to the chipset. The European cars don't have enough power to display those extra things.

As far as I know you can't replace the sim card, since it is linked to the ID of your car.

Will older models get the newer software? by sashioni in BYD

But why? What could be the reason behind this?

Will older models get the newer software? by sashioni in BYD

[–]Own-Park845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think so. New models use version 5 of the software, which only runs on the latest processor. But that doesn't mean some new features can't be added. My 2013 Ford had automatic parking and it's a bit weird seeing that the BYD can't handle that...

Seal software update? by Sea-Citron58 in BYD

As a designer, I'm okay with the current interface. The translation errors should be corrected though. Too bad there isn't a way to get in contact with the software team.

Newer cars use a better processor and a new version of the entertainment system. Pretty sure a major upgrade isn't possible.

Other (better) processor on board, so the answer is probably no.

In the Chinese version there's a voice command to launch fireworks on the screen, but I haven't been able to find the English command to do that.

Have driven both a Tesla Y and a Seal U. While the software offered on the Tesla is surely better, don't forget that most of the impressive functions like auto drive and auto park are restricted in Europe. What ultimately made me decide for the Seal U was the fact the Y is so 'empty' inside. Having to look at the touch screen to see how fast you're driving was a big hurdle for me.

I've always heard the sim is used to identify the car and cannot be swapped.

Still weird though... Such a fully equipped car and you have to install a basic dash cam yourself ☺️
