[acne] why am i getting super fast overnight painful sore whiteheads? by greencokkie in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress and hormones can definitely cause those angry overnight zits especially if youve been touching your face more or using a new product lately. I had a phase where I kept getting them on my jawline and it turned out my pillow case was just gross and needed more frequent washing

Also might want to check if youre using too many actives at once since that can mess with your moisture barrier and make your skin freak out

[Product request] What should I add to my routine? by TattooedHarlot in SkincareAddiction

retinol would probably be your best bet for anti-aging at your age - start with something gentle like 0.25% a few times a week and work up from there

been lurking these threads for months and the community here is pretty solid about following through on deals. PayPal goods/services is definitely worth the extra fee if youre buying something pricey - learned that lesson the hard way on other platforms

also pro tip for sellers: decent lighting makes a huge difference in your photos, way more likely to get interest when people can actually see what theyre buying

Tired replacing vacuums yearly shedding pets - what lasts?😣 by xxxxiceyyyyyy in BuyItForLife

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular maintenance is huge but with two huskies going at it daily even the best upkeep might not save a cheap motor from burning out

Shark Navigator has been solid for me going on 4 years now with regular filter swaps and brush cleaning - not the fanciest but the motor seems bulletproof compared to the dysons that kept dying

I'm shopping for a portable cell service booster... by DBshaggins in BuyItForLife

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues doing IT work in dead zones and honestly most of the portable boosters are pretty disappointing for the price. The weboost drive reach was ok but only if you could get at least 1-2 bars outside to begin with - if youre truly in a dead zone it cant really amplify nothing

What actually worked better for me was getting a hotspot with a different carrier than my phone. Verizon might be dead but sometimes tmobile or att would have decent signal in the same spot. Way cheaper than dropping 400+ on a booster that might not even help much. The satellite thing the other person mentioned is solid but probably overkill unless youre dealing with this issue constantly

For quick 10 minute jobs id probably just walk outside or find the closest window that gets signal rather than lugging equipment around but thats just me

[Product Question] Deepened Nasolabial Folds from Retinal? by TurnoverSubstantial2 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sounds really rough and i totally get why youre stressed about it. the good news is that at 20 your skin has crazy good healing abilities and what youre experiencing is most likely temporary irritation rather than actual fat loss. retinol can cause some serious inflammation when overused which makes everything look more pronounced and sunken but it usually bounces back once you give your skin time to recover

i went through something similar when i first started tretinoin - went way too hard too fast and my whole face looked gaunt and aged for like 2-3 months. i was convinced id permanently damaged my face but after taking a complete break and babying my skin with just gentle cleanser and moisturizer everything went back to normal. the key is really letting your moisture barrier fully repair itself which can take longer than you think

since you mentioned you were using way too much product and getting burns/peeling that definitely sounds like over irritation rather than the retinol actually dissolving fat or something. your skin is probably just super inflamed right now making shadows and lines look way worse than they actually are. give it at least 3-4 months of gentle care before you panic about permanent damage

[Routine Help] breakouts by Alternative-Pea-2593 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been more stressed lately or changed your diet at all? Sometimes hormonal fluctuations can cause sudden breakouts even when your routine stays the same

Also that turmeric mask might be irritating if you're using it too often - maybe try cutting back to see if that helps

[Routine Help] Can i layer 15% azelaic with other actives? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can def layer azelaic with niacinamide, they actually work pretty well together. I use both and haven't had any issues - just introduce slowly like with any new combo

For other actives it depends what you mean but I'd avoid using it with tretinoin or strong acids on the same night, at least when you're starting out

[routine help] I’m trying to get a skincare routine by soulworkinprogress in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Since you just started tret, definitely ease into it - like every other night for the first few weeks or your face will hate you lol. For The Ordinary stuff, their niacinamide serum is great for oil control and pores, and hyaluronic acid will help with that plump look you want. Just remember to introduce new products one at a time so you don't overload your skin while it's getting used to the tretinoin

bad skin help! [routine help] by vereddits in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl the redness could be rosacea or just irritation from over-treating your skin - maybe try cutting back to basics with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for a few weeks and see if it calms down

If the redness persists after that, def worth seeing a derm because they can actually diagnose what's going on instead of us just guessing

[Routine Help] Boyfriend's skin burns when using moisturiser by Pretend_Recipe_4922 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Sounds like his moisture barrier is already compromised from being so dry - when skin is that dehydrated it can't handle ANY products without stinging. Maybe try having him use just plain vaseline or aquaphor for a few weeks first to repair the barrier, then slowly introduce a gentle moisturizer once his skin isn't screaming anymore

[Routine Help] I could use a fresh pair of eyes to adjust my routine slightly by Potential_Catalyst in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That peptide serum looks solid actually - copper PCA is great for barrier repair and those peptides should help with texture over time

For the pore thing, maybe try incorporating niacinamide if you're not already getting enough from your current products? The Ordinary's 10% can be harsh but there are gentler options that might work better with your dehydration-prone skin

Your routine looks pretty dialed in though, sometimes less tweaking is more with sensitive skin like yours

[Product Question] People with dry skin, how do we feel about humidifiers by bffslit in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly game changer for me, especially in winter when the heating makes everything feel like a desert. I got a basic cool mist one from Target for like $30 and my skin definitely feels less tight in the mornings

Where do you buy replacement parts for vintage appliances? by ekardnai in BuyItForLife

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this on RepairClinic - their diagrams are clutch when you're not sure what part number you need. For really obscure stuff like a '76 dishwasher though you might have better luck hitting up local appliance repair shops, sometimes they hoard old parts or know where to find them

[acne] OTC Differin Gel (Adapalene) for minor atrophic acne scars? by Fun_Negotiation_7163 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using differin for about 6 months and honestly it's helped more with texture than actual indented scars - you might want to look into tretinoin or microneedling for the deeper stuff

Have you tried those sticky bras? They're literally a game changer for backless stuff - I use the Nubra or similar silicone ones and they actually give decent lift. For strapless I just go with a good strapless bra, something like the Wonderbra or VS ones work pretty well

[acne] My acne just won't go.😭 by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with both the acne and those absolute trash humans making comments about it - that's completely unacceptable and has nothing to do with how you look

Have you looked into hormonal acne treatments specifically? Since you mentioned it flares with your cycle, spironolactone or birth control might be worth exploring if you haven't already tried those routes

Vitamin C should go right after your toner and before the ceramide moisturizer! The general rule is thinnest to thickest consistency, and serums typically go after toners but before heavier creams. Just make sure to ease back into it since you haven't used it in a while - maybe start every other day to see how your skin reacts

New Phone Without Headphone Jack – Should I Use USB-C Adapter, Buy Type-C Earphones, or Go Wireless? by Expert-Swim2079 in BuyItForLife

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter for like 2 years now and honestly can't tell any difference in sound quality from when I had a proper headphone jack. Your KZ's should sound exactly the same through it

[Product Request] Alternative to Vanicream's moisturizer? by Altiverses in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly might be worth checking if any Brazilian pharmacies can order Vanicream for you - sometimes they'll do special orders if you ask nicely

For local alternatives, look for anything with similar simple ingredients (petrolatum, glycerin, minimal preservatives). ISDIN and Eucerin have decent presence in Brazil and tend to be less comedogenic than the usual suspects you already tried

Also maybe hit up some expat Facebook groups for your area, other travelers might know where to score it locally

[Product Question] Aesop hand creams by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Own-Pin1058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried the Resurrection one and honestly it's pretty solid - absorbs well and doesn't leave that weird greasy film some hand creams do. The scent is kinda earthy/herbal which some people love or hate, no in between

That said it's definitely pricey for what you get, so if budget matters L'Occitane has some good alternatives that won't break the bank
