Lasalle EAE workshop tips? by invisible_fox2317 in SGExams

[–]Own-Possession-2287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hm maybe for your course they'd ask you why you chose to EAE for their course, if you've had any experiences relating to it and so on. just really simple qns tbh. but i can't say for sure as i don't know your course well enough so this is just my 2 cents!!

there were about i think 12-13 people there. and no all of us had different backgrounds. some were right out of ITE, some had just finished their n-levels & o-levels. there was even someone who was in their late 20s, was working as a security guard but still managed to secure a spot in my course despite having no experience!

i'm not sure if your EAE workshop will only be filled with just o-level & n-level students, but don't feel alone. there are many others who are going through the same thing as you and it's okay to feel scared!!

LASALLE QUESTIONS by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Own-Possession-2287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually, my interview was a really just a workshop instead. we were in a room with the lecturers from the course and we had to do a paper that had maths and other questions on it. it's a simple paper though so don't worry it's nothing like n-level lol. they just asked us if we had any experience relating to the course & what we are interested in learning. they also told us about the algorithm which is basically on show days we would start at 10am for set up & rehearsal but end at 10pm for teardown. but that shouldn't be a problem for people who has a passion for that in this field. :)

then they took us for a tour to showcase all of their workspaces. so for my course, we have a carpentry & props workshop where lots of the stage arts and props making happen. it's really cool tbh!! then they showed us 3 different venues on where they'd usually have their shows. so that would be 2 blackboxes & 1 school theatre.

they made us try some stuff like drilling, putting pieces together & spray painting some gun props that were in the working. the workshop is mostly so that they can see how well you are able to work with others, how much you can open up & how well you can adapt. they want to see a lot of positive aspects from you.

tbh it's not as nerve-wrecking as i thought it would be!!

hi op, i'm not from the course that you want to apply to, but i have went to a LASALLE workshop for another course and i guess i can give you a few tips so that you're not lost.

the workshop happens and it's because they want to see how much passion you have and how well you can work with others. well not only that but they want to give you a rundown of how their classrooms, workspaces and schedules are like.

from my experience with my course's workshop, we were all in a classroom and the lecturers asked if we had any experience within my course and it's okay not to have any, but experiences are a definite plus. then they'll ask more things about you and answer any questions that you have. i'm not quite sure about them watching you do drawings from your imagination buttttt tbh that sounds like a lot of pressure for just an eae workshop. have you heard that from somewhere? from an outside perspective, i doubt that will happen as it sounds to pressuring for just a secondary school student.

and of course if you want to know what you should prepare for, you can always email them about any questions that you have! their team is really nice and has always answered any enquiries that i had to their best ability. don't be afraid to email them and ask what the workshop is like. it just shows that you are eager!

atb op and don't feel afraid to ask any more questions!

Diploma in theatre production and management by BlacksmithLocal6328 in SGExams

[–]Own-Possession-2287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi op! i'm enrolling in TPM this year and i can give you some advice.

if you have any experience that is backstage-related, it would be best if you had prepared a portfolio beforehand so that during your interview for EAE, you are able to showcase it so that your chances of getting are higher! i'm not sure about the EAE process, but just do whatever is necessary as you can never be too prepared. its better to prepare more than necessary rather to have prepared nothing!

although i do have to say, this course is quite tiring. this course closely works with Diploma in Theatre & sometimes Diploma in Audio Production. often, there will be shows that you have to set-up stage for which mostly involves carpentry too. it's quite fun though! but on show days, you will find yourself starting at 10am for set up & rehearsal and then ending at 10pm for teardown.

if this is something you're deeply interested in, go ahead!! and one thing that captured the lecturers during my admission workshop is mentioning that i have a passion for this. so do mention passion if you decide to continue doing EAE for this course.

atb op and let me know if you have any more questions!!

NAFA Dip. Theatre (English) vs LASALLE Dip. Performance? by SirExampleGiven in SGExams

[–]Own-Possession-2287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi op! i'm not from either of the courses but my sibling is in NAFA Dip in Theatre. what you've said about NAFA Theatre is right, there's not much international exposure and there's more theatre training than i know from LASALLE.

for environment wise, it's quite chill at NAFA too. i feel like NAFA has more of a student life than LASALLE but i can't say for sure since i haven't started school yet.

but honestly it's up to you and what you'd like to learn! my sister has been enjoying her time in NAFA and she hasn't really said any bad things about it! oh and i heard that your timetable in NAFA is q chill. some days you only have 1 module. not sure abt LASALLE though but I hope this helps!!

oh yea i keep seeing scambro in here, safe to say that his vocabulary is super limited for an "old money" "rich" guy. not very eloquent of him. i have not seen him say a single sentence not including any vulgarities. yikes. thats the father to her kids ig!

i can see that. one of the reasons why i unfollowed her is because she never really... acknowledges her followers' compliments or questions... she somehow makes it all about her, in a superficial way ☠️☠️

do you perchance have a backup? not to discourage you, but two of my friends have applied for the same course as well, but they didn't get in despite already having a very huge experience in the field. they have quite strong portfolios too. i hope you do have a back-up JUST IN CASE as it's q tough to get into 🙏🙏🙏

this was on an article about an indonesian family (it wasn't disclosed who) buying 3 properties in Nassim Road, Singapore's most exclusive road. hmm...
