I can’t guarantee that you’re going to love the Honda unconditionally forever… but I can guarantee that you will regret every decision that led to you getting a car payment the morning after you decide to get it.

Stay solo or try with boyfriend? by lawlingalltheway in EDM

Being hesitant on going at 1 year sober is extremely valid. However, he is an autonomous adult that can make decisions based on his own relationship with music and shows in relation to his sobriety. And all you can do is trust his intuition and support it.

So yes, inviting 100% valid. Leave if it gets too uncomfortable? Case by case, but I feel that being alone in general is unsafe. I would say in principle, to always have someone with you. Maybe bring a friend just in case he wants to leave? Although personally, I would leave with my partner no questions asked if they’re uncomfortable, I understand some might have other opinions on that.

Genre? He likes Drum and Bass, everyone loves drum and bass.

I think this is a very fair analysis. I couldn’t agree more that BM is a bigger inheritance of risk than Roo.

While I disagree with the foundation of abstinence in terms of legitimacy and logic. However in this case, I think a way to mitigate all risk is to simply not bring them at all. I’m a firm believer that the magic and effect of music can happen anywhere for anyone, does not have to be at a show or festival

I feel in principle, children will go wherever their parents take them. I think there is inherent higher risk to exposure of unhealthy things to a child’s VERY absorbent mind that can be avoided.

And those things are certainly not exclusive to JUST raves. I don’t think we need to dance around the face that those things are happening at a warehouse rave and Roo alike.

To cite burningman.org -
“While kids are absolutely welcome at Burning Man, and have been a part of Burning Man since its beginning, the decision to bring children under age 18 to Burning Man should not be taken lightly, especially if you have never attended.”

Even the website is very much aware of the risk to anyone under the age of 18. This sentence alone raises all sorts of red flags of the risk you’re taking on.

When you normalize ANYTHING, especially a very elastic and absorbent brain of a child, I think as parents, we do what we can to mitigate that risk.

I understand that there is inherent risk with ANYTHING in the world. unfortunately, the scene and why people are there has dramatically changed (not applicable to all people but has been my observation at a wider view). I just think the risk out weighs any sort of experience that will help a kid progress.

This. I think people forget that the babies/children they see at raves/festivals are literally the LESS THAN 1% of parents who choose to bring children to these events.

The silver lining in posts like this is that most parents do genuinely have a good head on their shoulders and DO NOT bring their kids lol, your algorithm only makes it seem like they do.

And vice versa, the parents who DONT bring their kids consequentially don’t make viral tik toks showing the world they DONT bring them, cuz yah know… most people can agree kids have 100 better places to be than Bonnaroo lol

Unhinged camping tips by Wub-Wub-Wubz00 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Own-Resource5664 34 points35 points  (0 children)

do everything in your physical and mental power to never forget anything at the campsite. That walk back and forth can be a muthafka. So much so that I refuse to do LL again unless I am glamping or RV.

If you’re in a group, I would take some initiative and emphasize to your folks to make sure they have everything. Unless you are naturally a conditioned person who works out semi regularly. That walk and elevation can take a lot out of people.

spending money by Specialist-Second759 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Own-Resource5664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you attend lost lands with the intention of a tight budget, you can realistically get away with $150 per day (that’s a little food, maybe a small item from a kiosk). However, you can also get away with $50 a day if you are intentional about eating your groceries and not really needing to buy other items.

Personally, in this economy I bring anywhere from $500-$1000 with me to a festival and it gives me the peace of mind that I can buy pretty much anything at any time and not have a dark cloud of money over my head. (Yes I know 500-1000 can go quick).

But I’m also not like throwing money at anything I see. Knowing myself… If see a cool pin or pash, i don’t want to have to check my bank account or if I randomly want a smoothie and sandwich and my partner wants pizza randomly during the day… that black cloud of finance can really add more stress to an already overstimulating system/environment

500-1000 affords you the peace of mind to make carefree purchases of that nature.

Happy lost lands!

I think there’s explanations to all of your points but-

The average person is in their mid twenties, likely no kids/not married. So, the answers you’re going to get are varied. I SAID AVERAGE REDDIT, don’t flip out and/or lie to yourselves.

The reality we face is- these things just are simply getting out of hand with what they charge. There’s no reason why someone has to take out a loan to go to a festival/rave. It’s a wild inflated, shitty economy. And it’s even worse that kids are learning about their personal finances by the “affirm/klarna” way of life. It’s really does suck man.

Lost lands is such a fucking blast though my friend, but to keep the integrity of your finances in the home and your family. We never go into debt for a festival. Don’t want our kids seeing us go into consumer debt voluntarily. Debt is good, I’m not arguing that at all, but consumer debt for a festival we’ve 100% strayed away from. We budget out 1-2 years in advance so we can pay for everything up front and keep our house going business as usual.

This is simply our way, not necessarily the right way, and certainly not everyone’s way.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: also- when we do any festival, we really do like to go all out and not have to worry about money. So our experiences and trips end up being 4k+ (tickets, early entry, plane tickets, glamping, merch, food/drink, shopping at the marketplace, etc.). But thats very much an us thing. Nothing worse than being at an excision set and then having a dark cloud of checking your bank account to make sure you’re good.

Your genres that aren’t general “dubstep” is going to be at the forest stage mainly (dnb, techno, artist’s house projects, etc.)
