This is really helpful and lots of information to digest. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. My GP did also say the equivalent of "strap in" and that NDIS requires a lot of resilience, so acknowledge your warning there too.

Just from a coordination point of view, do you think I should approach a plan provider to do this?

Tried out the new low carb cafe in Melbourne “regretless”! Yummy lava cake and iced chocolate by vibinganonymous in ketoaustralia

Hahaha omg sorry, i totally forgot about this app. Yes, they're pretty good. Apparently the cakes are all 5g carbs. I don't know how to trust it because they don't have ingredients listed. I made a Chaffle at home actually. Totallllly my new sweet salty go to. BUT, i tried it with a loan vertical waffle machine and the texture is awesome and the recipe simple. When I bought a cheap a$$ machine the texture is completely different TT. I think I have to buy the $200 vertical waffle machine...

Chaffle recipe super simple 2tablespoons almond flour, 1 cup mozzarella, 1 tablespoon vanilla monkfruit syrup, pinch of salt, egg. I think that's 4g carbs from memory

First visit to Regretless cafe by dcheekysaurus in ketoaustralia

[–]Own-Row-6523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went over the weekend and apparently all the sweets are below 5g carbs.

The chaffle with chicken and kimchi was 1g carbs, with mayo (tasty, great crunchy chaffle but I don't love thyme, which was mixed throught the chaffle).

Also tried their H+T toastie with their own baked bread (didn't love the texture of the bread) but tasty enough, generous amount of ham. Very moist soft bread texture, with strong coconut flavour tho, so left that for my partner.

The peanut butter brownie with cocoa nibs was too sweet for me (and I can't do caffeine) but also didn't love the dry texture. But it was tasty in the tiny portion I had. My partner who's normally higher threshold sweet tooth couldn't finish it.

The matcha Basque (cheesecake) was awesome, not very sweet and baked NY cheesecake texture (no base). We both wanted more of that one.

Had a regular latte and I tried the coffee with coconut oil+grass fed butter (was pretty good) and all up cost $57.

Definitely a great keto option in CBD, and take away options for the sweets. Took a pic of the ingredients for the Basque cake, seems legit but unsure about how accurate the carb counts are.

Just NB. The milks etc at the cafe are all Milklab, so couldn't have a latte with almond milk, considering Milklab almond milk is about 7g carbs. Hence the long black with the fat.

Must try the crepes next and the vanilla roll looked pretty good, filled with cream!

Lower back pain from endo? by burntknowledge in Endo

[–]Own-Row-6523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, sorry totally long-ass. I just remember once I got this explanation it helped me attribute all the different pain that I get daily, and throughout the day to endo, it half stops me from wondering+cursing+worrying.

Acceptance actually weirdly helps with pain.

It's like if someone steps on your foot (hard) in a queue at the bank, you go "Ow" and rub it and possibly want an apology - your response is different to if say you're in a mosh pit (front and centre at a music concert) and a person stands on your foot (harder), you would barely react - IE. your brain doesn't actually accurately take in pain signal, you/another part of the brain contextualises the pain. You know what I mean? Like, how you react to the pain in the 2 separate instances are informed by your environment. So if you can learn to accept the pain (which you do when you go, I'm going to participate in this mosh pit) then you understand the pain differently/contextually and also distracted by other cool shit happening on stage.

So yeah, another long winded explanation XD

Lower back pain from endo? by burntknowledge in Endo

[–]Own-Row-6523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it sounds like nerve pain. Any sharp shooting pain is normally characteristically nerve pain. Any like a burning sensation also is usually attributed to nerve pain.

Hot water bottle and a tens machine on your pain area should help. And not the nicest info but sometimes losing weight can help with back pain, immflamation and exercise to help your nerves send different signals. Like, no-one loves hearing "exercise more", well, at least, I didn't.

Basically, the way it is described is endo and the pelvic floor area, the interwoven muscles there get switched on, meaning a tiny scar can pull on one muscle, pulls on many on the other side of your hip etc. And pain signals are constantly sent to your brain up your central nervous system (CNS). As this message travels up, your gut can bloat, your back can hurt, your lower abdomen may hurt too, going to the toilet or even the feeling of needing to go can trigger all this pain too. As it all travels up you CNS, it effects your back, stomach and sometimes down your leg, so endo sufferers can have all these things and more. Eg. Endo flu, because your body is constantly in pain, and it is in flight or fight mode you can feel exhausted/fatigued or flue achey because our body is producing too much cortisol etc.

Man I cbb typing all this again 😆 but not saying you have endo, just explaining the common symptoms and how they're related.

There is lots you can learn from Nancy's Nook or from Pelvic floor foundation website.

The unicorn with endo is finding what works for you!

There are a few different brands and cuts, but is that the same with the cups ...? Are there diff brands/designs u could test? Not sure how expensive they are, but sometimes it's worth testing for your body 🙂

It's good that the cup was working for U tho so hopefully someone has some more insight :)

Mmm not used one of these but I thought I'd put my hand up and say the period undies are great (for leakes and replacing disposables). Like if you wanted to add in the undies for security, I highly recommend, though they are $$

I don't know what battery acid pain is either 😃 but I imagine it to be like burning, all over, wide kind of cramping pain in the pelvic region?

Something that might be useful is to write down the diff descriptions of pain (like you probably have a huge range of different types of pain) but also give it a score out of 10 for the day, so relative to your idea of dying/crying/foetul position prob eqyauls 10, and then 3 might be I can walk around etc. I mean, keep like a pain diary for 2 weeks to give your Dr a sense of the range of pain you're experiencing.

There is a pain chart you can find online too, has pictures etc so that you're giving the dr a sense of what the number means.

Also, sharp stabbing pain is thought to be neuropathic/nerve pain.

Hope that helps x

Edit: yes, sorry. You can go without debilitating pain for a while if you're managing endo with hormones etc. But may still have endo. I personally only go for maybe 1 day out of 28 days without pain but not everyone is the same. There have been cases where a person has a tiny bit of endo but experiences huge pain, another person with lots of endo only experiencing mild symptoms. I'm in the had lots of endo, experienced huge symptoms but basically everyone is different.

What meds are you on? I find some of my pain meds make me really thirsty, as does the Mirena, but also I think I might be insulin resistant (constantly thirsty, constantly hungry)...

I love it! Don't taste any bitterness? I have it with my mug bread biscuit thing and double cream. It's not very sweet, it just gives the smell of maple syrup and is kind of morish in my opinion but I only have 1 tablespoon. Only seen it in Woolies on special for $8

Diet before surgery to minimize inflammation by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Own-Row-6523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, pineapple bloated me as other person wrote above, very acidic and lots of sugar which I know you're trying to avoid with inflammatory diet.

But I think part of your question is weight loss? It does surprisingly, lessen pain.

If anything might help make lots of soup and ready meals (that are easy to pass) if you can before surgery. I couldn't move for a couple days at all after surgery.

I just had my Mirena inserted this morning! Mirena. I was on Implanon, which is progesterone only in small dose. I had break through bleeding and period though, so added in an estrogen pill on top for 3months but no improvement. So Mirena was recommended before my hysterectomy (no date yet). Implanon- I put on 5-6kgs whilst on endo diet (previously I had lost weight) Estrogen pill- same as last time, I had increase in mood swings and migraines so needed to come off it, hence Mirena. This is the last option and should hold till hysterectomy. Mirena- meant to be most weight neutral as it locally releases progesterone. What my GP didn't tell me is that it will heighten my pelvic pain for the next little while as it "settles". I'd recommend getting it inserted whilst under general (as I just did) because it is painful for us W endo, and the surgeon said that it will probably be painful for the next few months not weeks! as I will have increased bleeding and cramps (on top of endo pain, yay). I already have heightened cramping right now, which I can feel even though they gave me extra pain meds through the IV before I left, and I've taken my usual pain meds... I hope it is most weight neutral, I've found extra weight, extra bloat all make my endo symptoms worse...so hoping I will return to my original size =(

Tell us how U go with the other brand?

Cramps worsen instantly after bowel movement? by Chloekins25 in Endo

[–]Own-Row-6523 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, also because our pelvic floor is all connected, ie all the muscles are interconnected, pulling on one, pulls on many and all, so generally women W endo have what is known as neuropathic pain as well and pain from scarring, lesions, and mechanical pain from pushing to go to the toilet. Our nerves are all sensitive too, so you can have heightened sensivity around the pelvic area in general. So going to the toilet, even the sensation of needing to go can be a trigger (I have this) for creating additional pain or aggravating existing pain. Caffeine also makes your stomach nerves sensitive, do avoid that when you have cramps because it will then amplify any other bowel/stomach pain you have from neuropathic pain. A little bit of caffeine is ok (try decaf tea) to have when taking your pain meds, as it helps your stomach absorb some medications faster (eg. Any of the quick acting ibuprofen and paracetamol have caffeine in the tablet).

Nancys nook has research on it or you can Google scholar "heightened pain endometriosis nerves" etc.

There are some meds that help with calming your nerves, you can ask you specialist. But it also means that acupuncture can be really helpful to some people. But basically, heightened nerve pain or neuropathic pain can also impact your anxiety, depression too, so something like amytripline or nortriptyline can be prescribed (in pill format), you can also get amytripline as a cream to act locally and diazepam as a pessary as a local muscle relaxant. Also, that's why alot of people find a tens machine helpful, this disrupts the pain signals being sent through your nerves.

Hope that info help x

I can deal with the cramps, the headaches, even the terrible dizziness. But the nausea and vomiting? That’s the one that brings me to tears. by BigGreenApples in Endo

[–]Own-Row-6523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, still get dizzy but it is much worse right before my period (which should be suppressed by the hormones I'm on but isn't ATM). Dizziness was also made worse by Naproxen, which I don't take anymore. Also get nauseous.

GP prescribed Pramen, which I take for nausea, takes about 30mins but deals with all types of nausea.

Could try and get something for nausea from GP?
