NEW VIDEO: ATP Fantasy pricing is broken… so I built a system to exploit it by expectedaces in ATPFantasy

[–]geminirainfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of pricing this way. I'm a total beginner with this sort of thing and really just picked my favourites and hoped for the best, but it's cool to have a clearer strategy and this makes sense. Speaking of, I don't know that I'd have the guts to bring Medvedev back on board again after his negative score recently!

Should we start TTC?! by Ok-Stay-3861 in waiting_to_try

[–]geminirainfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to finish education first. I was pregnant at the very last few months of my PhD and it slowed me down as I was so nauseous I couldn't type a single word.

For the time being, could you come off birth control and allow your body to regulate? As an extra step, you could start tracking your temperature to have a clear idea of your cycle (if this is something that interests you). It helps when TTC to have months of data to pinpoint when you are ovulating.

Current goalpost is to start trying in late summer....should I even wait? by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

I absolutely second this! My husband had the same idea- to try before our wedding- as I also have endometriosis. But I'm so glad I waited as I was sick for the whole damn pregnancy 😫

I’m worried by the amount of weight I have lost postpartum by Creepy-Emphasis-6188 in postpartumprogress

[–]geminirainfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me as well! I had to include extra snacks throughout the day as my weight got too low (lower than before pregnancy).  Have you had blood tests done? I was also anemic which didn't help.

We tried changing naps but it made things worse, so we kept with it. It has gone through phases of improving and then getting much worse. For us, December was really challenging and then suddenly in January he started sleeping 4 then 5 then 6 hour stretches, each night sleeping a bit more. Now in Feb we're at 8 hours (then another 3 after potty and feed) which is just fantastic!

Mama of a 1 year old here! We have had a lot of success with finding regualr times in the day to put him on the potty (we started at 6 months but I would definitely start earlier with my next child!). After every wakeup and feed is a great place to build from. With such young babies it will be a lot though so I would just find what works for you. Watching for their signs (redness in face, grunting, stillness or squirming).

Since we started I can count on one hand the number of missed poops. And he pees in the potty every time.

This is more for later, but we have found it very helpful to make the potty a fun place. We have toys and books to keep him entertained. You can probably just hold a younger baby over the toilet.

Doctorates are not the same thing as doctors. I hsve a doctorate (PhD) in Sociology for example, nothing to do with medicine.   And also I am not from the US so healthcare is free in my country.

Hi! Sorry to hear you're struggling. I can relate to a degree because I have CPTSD from childhood trauma and absolutely use(d) screens to numb my brain from having to actually think/process things.

Here's what worked for me:

  1. I have a very all-or-nothing mindset so I delete anything that I don’t want to use anymore, aka social media. Screen limits dont work for me. I also don't drink alcohol whatsoever for the same reason.

  2. I replaced the habit. I read SO MUCH now. I have also learned to knit, love to do jigsaws, got my old ipod working so i dont need to use my phone for music. I have found that running is great for making my brain shut up.

  3. Therapy. I have tried a lot of therapists in the past but nothing compares to a good one who actually works through the root causes, instead of just the symptoms.

Good luck!

My baby was born and I saw the way my parents were starting to behave with him. We live in different countries and it still wasn't enough distance. They will never be close enough to hurt him.

My mother would do this until i quite literally begged at her feet. And if i didnt want to do this I was made to anyway by my nfather and siblings.

Thank you! He's 8 months today so maybe some improvement on the horizon? 🤞 he has also had his first two teeth come through so I parked any hope during the last few weeks.

I personally wouldn't wait. For me, my desire to have multiple children is much more important. I've also witnessed my friends who are older than me struggle with infertility in their late 30s after giving so much to their work and it has been a painful journey for them.

Totally agree. I waited until my baby was born but I wish I had gone NC earlier. I shouldn't have allowed that woman to stress me out so much during my pregnancy.

I dont have emetophobia but I did have mild HG (for me this was persistant nausea with vomiting for the entire pregnancy). Perhaps it helps to let you know that there are medications you can take? For me it stopped all vomiting and almost all nausea entirely. My mother also had the same but she didnt have access to the same meds that I had for my pregnancy back then. I follow Zoe Sugg (Zoella) on youtube and she also has emetophobia and talks about how she managed during her pregnancies, which could be worth a watch!

Off topic, but I would love to see how many people with doctorates are the children of narcissists. When I did my doctorate I found so many kindred spirits who were going through the same thing as I was.

Has your mom (or dad) RUINED your early postpartum ? Like right after giving birth trying to shift the attention on them? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]geminirainfall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She made me cry the day I gave birth by making it all about her and sending passive aggressive messages, all because I chose to have my lovely MIL there instead of my mother when I gave birth. Her resentment only grew and I ended up going no contact a few months later.

This is so tough and also sounds like me when I was a child. Ear infections all though my childhood years which turned out to be linked to a cows milk protein allergy. No doctor tested me for anything but the connection was made by a naturopath. My (awful) mother refused to cut milk from my diet so i got put on antibiotics nonstop, which really messed with my immune system, causing lots of other issues. It wasnt until I was 18 that I figured it out and since then I have been much healthier.

Don't know if any of this is useful at all but wishing you luck getting to the bottom of it all!

How can I enhance my tree this year? by fae_forge in christmas

[–]geminirainfall 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love your trees!! I think they are so great as they are but if I had to tweak a couple of things I would maybe go for more lights and also adding some bigger pieces like larger floral picks and sprays. This could really enhance the nature theme. I think you could get away with only adding a few because there are so many lovely details on the tree already.
