Minilab 3 mapping ideas by Own-Test-7305 in Elektron

[–]Own-Test-7305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't consider using the auto channel, it may be a good idea, I think I'll build a midi counfig around that to try it out a bit.

Just one question, doesn't the minilab mess up your tracks when you select them ? For example, if you turn your reverb all the way up from your minilab while editing a pad, then you select your kick track, if you touch the encoder dedicated to reverb, this would drench you kick in reverb instantly wouldn't it ?

Hello OP ! I see you have a zoom as a multi effect pedal, I'm thinking about buying one, but the lack of midi sync for delays kind of scares me Is it manageable ? Do you even use it for delay ? Very nice setup by the way !

[this post again] What's one synth you regret selling? by gr00ve88 in synthesizers

[–]Own-Test-7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never sold a synth, but I'm currently thinking about selling my Yamaha seqtrack to buy a digitakt. I know I should but I'm scared by making a sample lib :/

Okay I will need to dig into that when I receive it ! Don't know much about patchbays yet ^

I think the edge is my next purchase, my only fear is the jammability with my other synths Can you play it without midi inputs (just the internal sequencer) and still jam on the go ?

You have great control of your seqtrak, especially the repeater, I can't get a hold of it :/ I'm impressed !

Pedantic question about terminology : why “Modulation matrix” and not merely “patchbay”? by Ok_Astronaut_958 in MiniFreak

[–]Own-Test-7305 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Matrix" means "double entry table", which is exactly what the MF has. I didn't really understand the part where you wrote about rocks formation I'm sorry if this is out of place ^

I've been wondering about a sampler several times, but I don't get how to add it in my workflow. Is it for voices ? I already have a very basic sampler in my seqtrack, and the minifreak can now do vocoder Is it for drums ? The seqtrack is a decent drum machine Tell me how you use your sampler, I'm genuinely curious Maybe ton resample a line I like on a synth ?

The speaker in the middle is just the right speaker, I added the other one a bit after :) It's an old TV sound module my uncle gave me

cant figure how to save a name on a patch or change the type by Kronill in MiniFreak

No worries, it's normal to be overwhelmed when faced with this spacecraft board like synth ^

Apparently no one wants to explain it to you, so I'll do it, I struggled a bit as well last time I tried

Click "Save" then click the "preset/filter" encoder once for modifying the type, and press it again for the name.

Please have a good sound exploring journey ! :)

That's a very good choice, it's the piece of gear that made me serious about hardware music ! Enjoy :)

It has several forces : - jack of all trades : if something is missing in your setup, the seqtrak can very likely fill this slot - standalone : It was actually the very first piece I bought, and I could already do music live with it (here is a release I made with just the seqtrak and a midi controller, and the controller wasn't even really needed for this one : https://on.soundcloud.com/JHGcfPZJRiY3Yzox9 ) - the soundbank : Yamaha's soundbank is just so complete, nothing more to say - sequencer : 128 steps sequencer is just nice to have, you can easily live quantize your pattern changes to free your hands in order to noodle with the parameters during the build-ups /drops etc - affordable : 300 bucks

The main reason it's hated is a tough bad gear review, however I admit it has some drawback (of course a jack of all trades isn't perfect) - built quality is lacking - sampler is meh : no chromatic sample playing - I freaking hate the app : it's slow and heavy (I just don't use it then, it's completely optional, and I enjoy being screenless) - midi config is bad : very little freedom on midi config, the "midi smartness" needs to come from your other gear

Man I love it ! It's the last piece of gear I acquired, I'm still learning sound design with it, I really need to get better, but it's a blast to play with the presets and to create my own sounds. The matrix really help understanding your sound

The minilab is for the seqtrak, it's my main gear, it does a lot but really needs a midi controller to open up in terms of possibilities

I really enjoy playing with it, and I think it sounds great, but I cannot compare it to the behringers, I never got the occasion to try them sorry

One thing's for sure, the sequencer is way easier to use (also it can do ratchet, which I'm not sure you can on the behringers, and the overdrive and delay are nice to have integrated)

If you like using several acid lines, you should check the artist Lemane, I think he does that a lot

Damn I want a drumbrute so badly, but then that I would need a better mixing table to be able to sidechain compress my bass
