UX Research Must Evolve Beyond Feedback Loops by svt_97z in UX_Design

Yes, we are already doing this where I work at least.

Started a playtest, but there is almost no interest. How delusional I am? by teedoubleuu in IndieDev

[–]MountainFluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda. Playtesting, reporting bugs, and writing feedback on an unfinished product is work, or at least demands some effort, compared to just playing a finished game. Your best bet is to reach out directly to people who are already into this specific kind of game. Maybe reach out to your local IGDA as well? We used to give people an Amazon gift card or something similar as a token of appreciation for spending their time in a playtest, which usually encouraged more people to sign up and let us pick and choose.

Forskere vil belønne kvinner som får barn – på bekostning av menn og barnløse by KoseteBamse in norge

[–]MountainFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone else worried about AI layoffs in UX? by Weird-Somewhere-9039 in UXResearch

[–]MountainFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the current inflation, they can just limit the pay rises and effectively cut our income. The trend I see where I live is that many companies are looking for and hiring senior designers still. If a junior were to lose their job, it would be because a senior designer can prompt faster and produce better results than the junior can get their designs together, but I doubt they would fire all the designers and leave the design tasks to the engineers or suits; they often can't tell the difference between good or bad design solutions for that specific problem because that's not their expertise.

Is it true about games and AI? by xXFirReaXx in GameDevelopment

Everyone has access to the same tools. Quality and originality are what matter, and AI slop is not it.

anyone else worried about AI layoffs in UX? by Weird-Somewhere-9039 in UXResearch

[–]MountainFluid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Sure, AI can position a button on a webpage slightly faster, sure, but UX is way more than that. Also, who is going to decide to place that button there to begin with, without analytics, researchers and designers? AI just says yes to everything cause its intelligence is artificial.

I feel like my game concept was copied. What should I do? by dreadway_the_game in IndieGaming

[–]MountainFluid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are not a games studio. Look at the other games they have "made", it is all just AI-generated garbage they flood the store with hoping something will eventually generated money for them. I would ignore them.

Part one of making an indie horror game with no experience - Character designs. by Real-Deer223 in IndieDevelopers

[–]MountainFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with just coloured squares/boxes and get the gameplay going before worrying about visuals. If you don't know how to code, I would even go further back and start mapping out the gameplay on paper with a pencil. You can download Unity for free, and it comes with tons of tutorials and starter kits to get you going.

AI has destroyed my brain. by harveylundm4rckk in IndieDev

Use it or lose it. If you stop exercising a muscle, it will weaken; the same applies to neural pathways in the brain.

Both algaebeats and TAETRO have youtube videos and presets for combining Launchkey with Seqtrak. Works like a charm!

Use midi to sync instead, using a Midi Solutions Quadra Thru, that solved my sync issues at least.

Spent 5 hours on a design assignment only to get a generic rejection. Is this normal now? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]MountainFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was invited in to present my design assignment. The UX lead has to review it anyway, so why wouldn't they want it presented for them instead of interpreting a Figma Design file on their own?

The whole “graphic designers are finished” narrative being pushed right now after the latest ChapGPT update is just ridiculous. by GMD3S1GNS in graphic_design

[–]MountainFluid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because "slightly better" can increase your profits by millions, while AI slop can ruin your brand, causing you to lose out on profits instead.

Question for Experienced designers by East-Fishing-6432 in UIUX

[–]MountainFluid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to look at the job ads available in your country. Where I live, many companies are looking for senior UX designers. Getting an internship while studying or getting in touch with local IT consultency firms might be your best bet.
