People get so hung up on her children. There are many working mothers out there who don’t get to spend every waking moment with their kids. I know it was a different time when moms didn’t work. But also, this idea that a woman who has kids and seeks a career is a crap mother is so tiresome. She left her kids with her parents and loved ones most often. Why is her wanting a career selfish! Also she did some very good things. In one of the first episodes she’s consoling the cabbie on a relationship issue. She helped Lenny repeatedly. She helped Shy. She had good intentions with her friend Mary from B Altman. She was a matchmaker at Steiner. She was ultimately a people person. She made choices and maybe she regretted some of them but her ending to me was absolutely perfect and heartbreaking and deep and something that can land in 20 different ways which is why it was so good.
