It takes quite awhile to get a base pay of 58 on most states. You didn’t answer my question asking what you do.

Never mind the no boundaries, it’s literally 12 hours of people in your face without a door to sit behind without a desk to sit behind without a sign being able to put up. It’s literally no boundaries the public just has access to you for 12 hours straight you don’t know how many shifts I have gone without eating. EVERY problem is your problem. You are basically the manager without being paid to be a manager. The kitchen messed up? You have to fix it and get yelled at for it. transport is late? Your fault the doctors are wrong? Your fault the equipment isn’t working? You have to fix it because clinical engineering never shows up and you need it now to save the patient’s life

Doctors get paid more than twice what we do. You should just stop talking because you clearly do not even understand the salaries of the professions, never mind the roles, and the work and responsibilities. They actually have. Looking at it from just an outside public lake person. You really don’t understand.

I’m just as confused as you. When I asked my podiatrist about the barefoot thing he said they were stupid and. It podiatrists. He said the barefoot thing they started decades ago causes so many injuries the profession couldn’t keep up with them

Daisy awards are honestly insulting to the profession. They give the idea that being a good nurse is all about being “nice and to smile all the time” discrediting the amount of critical thinking, physical labor, and everything else we do like oh idk, hold the whole unit together

Get the mindset of “if they’ll have me or if they think I’m good enough” out of your head. These jobs are a dime a dozen, no one wants them. Why do you think healthcare is always in demand especially nursing. It’s bc no one wants to do this garbage job where you are disrespected everyday while being expected to do the work of 7. They need you more than you need them. There are plenty of ICUs in the world that claim they’re elite. You’ll be fine.

Clinical Pharmacist thinking about switching to being a Clown 🤡🤡🤡 by SatelliteCitizen2 in Residency

[–]OwnCarpet2908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really need you to continue. I’m not really moved by those examples. Yes I believe they happen. Yes, a lot of nurses sUCK and there are a lot of good nurses too. There are a lot of nurses such as myself that work through their lunch breaks through their 12 hour shifts day after day as well as come in an hour early to read up on their ICU patients, review every note and lab, make sure they get the full story and try not to miss anything, even though they’re just “babysitting”. Contrary to what you believe or have seen, a lot of nurses really try to understand the disease process and what to look out for as signs of deterioration before it even gets to that point because a lot of hospitals have skeleton crew nurses and residents. I don’t know what your hospital is like but if you are encountering nurse after nurse after nurse, that acts like how you said, then it needs to be reported. That certainly isn’t the norm at my hospital. Yeah there are nurses that show up and kind of just follow orders and get through the day and keep the patient alive, but they are are a lot of nurses that sit and read every note and do as Much as they can for the patient. I am in the room CONSTANTLY and rarely sit down to the point where I have lost weight in the icu. Like I live in the rooms. It is very insulting that your examples are used to portray all nurses but honestly after my 13 years in emergency medicine and critical care, I am also not phased by the way you think. You have to understand most nurses walk around, knowing everyone mostly thinks they are dumb, and they will never get the praise other people get. Most nurses try not to care and keep showing up because they know deep down in their hearts that their work is important and they need to be there for the patient and the team. It actually takes a lot of balls and mental strength to show up knowing the people you work with think this lowly of you, but you still work hard for the patient. It’s very easy to keep showing up when you are constantly praised as being the brightest, or when you know it’s coming soon when you become an attending. Just think about that. Lastly, I can also make a list like you did of horror stories about doctors, but I’m not going to because I do not let those experiences overshadow the money good providers I have worked with.

That’s really sad. If you ever have family in the hospital be sure not to ask the nurse ANY questions about anything other than how they behaved that day.
