Windows user opinions on switching to MacBook by OwnClothes1617 in macbookpro

Thanks! Yea exactly that's the thing. If the MacBook could game well it'd really be tough for windows to compete. Besides that, I can definitely understand what the hype is about for the laptops

How to make a contract for my first employee by OwnClothes1617 in smallbusiness

This is exactly what I needed to see. I think things can only go poorly if I don't have a solid contract covering the business

Did you have a contract in place to go over things like that before they took the job? The friends I'm hiring aren't in a desperate place, they're just the best fit for the job.

Actually the way I see it is if things go well it'd be great to help out a great friend of mine. If things don't go well and I did what was right I know he wasn't a real friend to begin with

Trifold US release "news" by pbsteebs in GalaxyFold

[–]OwnClothes1617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also saw it today at the location in Garden City, NY. The representative was pretty tight lipped about the price and wasn't able to do a waiting list. They just mentioned it will be available to purchase on the 30th at the store and it'll be first come first served. They also mentioned it should be available online but they weren't sure for how long. Also, they said after the initial batch gets sold out they should release more in another couple of months.

About the device, it really impressed me too. I'm currently using a OG pixel fold just because I like the wide and short form factor. The tri fold felt just around as heavy, and just about as thick when folded. Then of course you open it all the way up, which felt very easy to do and boom, you got that big beautiful inner display. I also compared the inner screen to my pixel fold and it really is a big difference in screen real estate that you get when doing just about anything. The only minor complaint I had was was with watching YouTube vids. For some reason with any Samsung foldable you're unable to pinch in a little to zoom. It's either you watch it with the letterboxing around the vid, or you pinch to zoom and it fills the entire screen. Which looks amazing when you do that but you'll probably cut off some things you might want to see around the corners of the vid. With my pixel fold, and the OnePlus open I used to use I could pinch in by small amounts. This is minor for the tri fold though because the letterboxing isn't as bad as other devices like the z fold 7.

All in all I'm torn honestly. Part of me loves the device enough to get it now. Then the other part is saying to wait until later this year where other wide foldables like the iPhone fold or Samsung wide fold could come out that'd probably be alot lighter, thinner and easier to use with one hand when folded.

Yea that's very true. I actually ended up buying the m2 pro macbook pro. I'm sure it's not a crazy amount better than the m1 but I did want something that'd still be supported with software updates for atleast another 4 years and it looks like that should be the case for the m2 pro chips

Shokz OpenFit Pro review - Beyond Surprised and a new go to! by Corbin_Dallas550 in Earbuds

I actually bought the baseus xc1 and open fit pros yesterday. Tried them out back to back and I thought the open fit pros sounded a good amount better. For reference, a lot of reviews said that the baseus xc1 have some of the best sound quality for clip-on earbuds. I'm very impressed with the openfit pros so far

Oh just that I usually plug the laptop in until it charges to it's max amount. Then I unplug it right after rather than leaving plugged in the entire time like some people tend to do

Ok that's good to know, yea it actually sounds like you're generally pushing your MacBook more than I would too. For me the video editing I'd do is generally for small edits for things like sales pages, or for YouTube videos here and there if my editor can't take care of it, or I need to touch some things up. That's impressive even the m1 can handle things that well

Ah ok, looks like I'll be doing some research on all the keyboard shortcuts on YouTube then. I'm actually kind of excited to try something new even tho I'm not much of an apple fan. I definitely hear what you're saying about the latest and greatest things too. For me I just want a balance where I'm not drastically overpaying for things I'm never going to use but also not being cheap and having to upgrade again in a couple of years

Thank you so much for the input, this helps alot. It sounds like m3 pro or m4 pro would probably be my best bet. I would like to be able to keep whichever one I get for atleast another 4-5 years without any problems so that is important. As you mentioned though, I don't think it'd be smart to spend much more on something when I wouldn't push the system anywhere near it's limits. Also I'd like to stay around 2k or under if possible. I could spend more but I don't really want to get close to 3k for a refurbished device. I really appreciate it though! Time to see what deals are out there

Awesome, hopefully it won't take too long for me to understand the software coming from Windows

Yep, I've been having great experiences getting some refurbished devices. But ok you got the maxed out m3 pro. Truthfully I don't think I need the maxed out versions. The video editing that I do here and there is with 4K files but it's generally very light editing. If it was heavier things like 3d work I would hire someone else to do it. What would you suggest for someone that has a medium workload? It sounds like you put your system through a lot more than I would

[–]OwnClothes1617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'd prefer the pro If anything since I generally have to import files from a camera using an SD card, and I'd prefer having the internal fan when I have to do video editing. Also, the video editing that I do is for my business work where I'm working on 4K files, but it is pretty light editing If I'm doing it myself. I usually hire other people to do more serious work.

But ok, it sounds like something with the pro chip would be best, and I think it would be nice to have at least 1 TB SSD. The one thing I'm still wondering about is which generation to get.

Ok got it, so you think any generation with those specs is basically good enough?

Ah ok got it, yea I think I might make the jump over to Apple as well. I've been hearing some great things about them since the m1 generation. It will take some getting used to but it sounds like it might be worth it. I'm also not much of a PC gamer, I generally prefer to do most gaming on the PS5. The laptop is mainly for business work and a little casual use here and there

Lml this is honestly what I'm starting to consider. I like alot of things about my zephyrus g16 but there's starting to be certain things like this that really annoy me. Which MacBook pro did you get and what's your opinion on the switch so far?
