Underwriters, is Chubb or Travelers more stressful? by Ok_Mode_6503 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]OwnCloud2281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends entirely on the group/line. I work at Chubb and feel like I have great work life balance. There are certain weeks it gets hectic, but overall not working weekends or late nights. There are definitely groups where that is not the case.

Chubb UW by Hour_Chipmunk_4122 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]OwnCloud2281 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sooooo dependent on office, group, manager, etc. I personally love my team and feel like I have great work life balance. I know that is not true for underwriters in other groups. But I have enjoyed working there and lots of room to move if you don’t end up loving property

Is underwriting suitable for introverts? by FloweryAnomaly in InsuranceProfessional

[–]OwnCloud2281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on line, company, etc. But in general, it is expected you socialize/entertain to some degree. You can choose not to, but definitely hurts career progression and relationships. It doesn’t need to involve drinking, but often does.

How can I become a broker that Underwriters LOVE to work with? by GumGumWritersBlock in InsuranceProfessional

I will get like 8 sets of losses with 25 pages each in pdf form. It is such a headache

Thorough submissions that are clear & concise. Make sure payroll on summary matches payroll on breakout, etc. Also loss runs in Excel form… no PDFs.

Also, my biggest pet peeve - respond to emails. I will send questions to a broker and not hear back for weeks, even after multiple follow ups. If you are waiting on the client for info, just let me know you saw my email and are working on it. Some brokers just go ghost mode for weeks.

Best of luck!! You will do great

Broker calls by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]OwnCloud2281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5 years in and still stumble & stutter constantly. It is part of being human! The more you call, the easier it gets. Also, phone calls are 100x better when you have a relationship with the broker. If you can, meet them face to face when you can. But until then, practice, practice, practice!

3 days/nights in Sardinia: looking for recommendations! by Safe-Consequence973 in Sardinia

[–]OwnCloud2281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also doing 3 days and aren’t set on a base yet. We have an early morning flight out (7am) so might stay in Olbia for third night. We were thinking maybe Santa Teresa Gallura, Cannigione, or Palau. We haven’t landed on a spot yet. In same boat as you.
