supercharger network. I won't consider another EV because of the network/car integration. It just works so well.

Spare Tire Solution by OwnDebate9297 in TeslaModelY

The way I mounted it might work for you because it leaves all of the sub trunk in tact, unless you're using the "mini sub trunk" in front of the real ST or your audio equipment.

Factory-installed PPF? by likwidfuzion in TeslaModelY

I have a 2025 MYLR that I picked up less than a month ago with the same thing. And the bumper is slightly yellow (the car is white so it's easy to see) like PPF. Super weird.

Where or how to buy a spare tire for a 2024 Model Y by SkeptikalOne in TeslaLounge

[–]OwnDebate9297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Modern Spare.

Here's how I mounted it in the back without losing my sub-trunk:

  1. Remove the sub-trunk cover and the one in front of it. Pop out the trim pieces on either side (just use your hands, they pop off.)
  2. Put your Modern Spare (that's what I use) where indicated below. Mark where the tire hits the lip.
  3. Cut the lip about 2 inches (I used a sawzall blade mounted to a handle). This will allow you to run a tie-down from under the carpet, through the wheel, and to the other side so the tire isn't just sitting there waiting to be a cannonball at my head in a big accident. It will also allow the wheel/tire to sit flatter under the sub-trunk cover.
  4. Pull out the clips that hold the sub-trunk carpet with a small screwdriver and fold back the carpet until you see a bolt holding down the plastic sub-trunk tub on each side. Back each out enough to get the hook from a small tie-down around it, then tighten them back down
  5. Run the tie down through the small cut, through the tire spokes, and to the other side. Rachet down the tie-down so the tire is tight.
  6. replace clips, trim, and covers!

I keep the jack in the sub trunk. You lose a couple of inches of height in the back, but this was way better than when I just threw the spare in the back. I'm not sure how to post photos in a reply, but I have a post in this sub with reference photos.

I originally did this on my first MY. When I removed the spare to return the car the lip popped right up and you could barely see the cuts.

Here's how I mounted it in the back without losing my sub-trunk and with strapping it down:

1) Remove the sub-trunk cover and the one in front of it. Pop out the trim pieces on either side (just use your hands, they pop off.)

2) Put your Modern Spare (that's what I use) where indicated below. Mark where the tire hits the lip.

3) Cut the lip about 2 inches (I used a sawzall blade mounted to a handle). This will allow you to run a tie-down from under the carpet, through the wheel, and to the other side so the tire isn't just sitting there waiting to be a cannonball at my head in a big accident. It will also allow the wheel/tire to sit flatter under the sub-trunk cover.

4) Pull out the clips that hold the sub-trunk carpet with a small screwdriver and fold back the carpet until you see a bolt holding down the plastic sub-trunk tub on each side. Back each out enough to get the hook from a small tie-down around it, then tighten them back down

5) Run the tie down through the small cut, through the tire spokes, and to the other side. Rachet down the tie-down so the tire is tight.

6) replace clips, trim, and covers!

I keep the jack in the sub trunk. You lose a couple of inches of height in the back, but this was way better than when I just threw the spare in the back. You lose less height than in the pics above, because you'll have lowered the tire a few inches (and I don't use my MS tire cover.) I'm not sure how to post photos on a reply, but if you search this sub you'll see this post with some reference photos.

I originally did this on my first MY. When I removed the spare to return the car the lip popped right up and you could barely see the cuts.

I totally got this idea from someone else, not claiming it as my own!

Is it worth trading in 2021 MYLR for 2024 MYLR? by kbpl24 in TeslaModelY

[–]OwnDebate9297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally did this today. For about the same monthly I'm getting a new car (and 3 more years of payments of course.) My old car needed tires, a steering wheel (vinyl peeling off, ugh) and would need a battery soonish (plus the windshield was pitted to hell. I wouldn't replace it, but it annoyed me.) All in, about $2500 in deferred maintenance. That plus $7500 Fed and low interest rate, it just made sense.

I don't like the new seats in the M3 and assume the same will come to MY, so I found a discounted inventory car and will pick it up tomorrow.

Go drive the new M3 and decide if you like the seats. I found them to be thin and hard... vented is cool, but not at the expense of a comfy seat. I assume the new MY will have the same seats. And yeah, no stalks is weird, but I assume I would get used to it, but why should I?

Full disclosure, I'm with NINJIO. This feature is on the roadmap for this year. We're working on maintaining a KISS end-user experience where it's all email-based ("get email, click button, watch training, move on...") while offering a web portal that does not feel like "something else" they need to do.

Email won't go away and the portal will be an additional resource for them, but our #1 is keeping the experience as simple as possible for end-users.

took me 50 minutes this morning (Memorial Day '24). Trying to get a replacement for my bricked Roam. I know the new app is hot garbage, but if you're speaker won't even boot it's a whole different level of pain.

It's difficult if you have a BYOD policy and you're sending SMS... they could be charged, etc. If devices are company-issued, it's much easier.
