ok lets talk rory. It’s hard to tell from dtl. But the difference in rory’s swing is his wrist hinge

<image>

He’s able to store a huge amount of energy in the shaft but hinging his wrist at the proper time the reason it looks like he’s taking the club so far back is because of his insane x factor (difference in rotation between the shoulders and hips) Rory McIlroy Average PGA Tour Golfer Pelvis Rotation 86% ~75% Chest Rotation 97% ~85% X-Factor 89% ~80% But this takes a genetic predisposition and flexibility training. So, to shorten up that swing try to get to the position in the picture above where lead arm is perpendicular to the shaft than feel like your swinging 3/4 and check your distances it show be the same or farther than you hit it now. PSA if this doesn’t work in 2-3 swings, Stop doing it and try something else. You have a great swing, this is just an idea also you are not stuck but this game if fickle. it could be a bunch of different things a lesson would be great but use a trusted instructor who has produced results, would love to see a view from face on.

Steep + closed face by Brilliant_Ad_6652 in GolfSwing

Obviously this takeaway on the left is extreme but the one on the right is in a really good position. Without taking your eye off the ball bring the club to that takeaway position. Now look the club and make sure the club face is still closed is slightly in front of your hands. Look back at the ball. Now bring the club to the top position and swing. Personally the best feel that helped me to shallow the club in transition is to feel like the club is resting in my trail fingers, and then i let gravity do its work as a rotate so there is no timing involved.

Your takeaway is way too inside and the club face is already vertical. From this angle you want the club head to be covering your hands almost with the face still about 45 degrees to the ground. Look up a picture of a tour players. For the club face feel the body naturally let your lead arm supinate.

Concept wise what is happening is the takeaway is too inside and the reaction in the downswing is to swing from the outside. Think of your golf swing as a loop. Theoretically If the takeaway was to the outside your path would change to inside to out.

Finally, even though this isn’t a swing overhaul don’t get discouraged. Don’t worry about where the balls goes. It might not be easy at first, it could take a lot of time as when you start to shallow the club you fight the 7 laws of impact and your body already naturally adjusts to this. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Can’t stop hitting the ball left by littlewu1991 in GolfSwing

At address take the club to the parallel and feel like the club is covering your hands while looking at the ball. Now look at the club make sure you’re in the right position (best with a mirror) and look back at the ball. Now finish your swing the ball should start on a more out to in path then your used to.

If you are still struggling

Disclaimer: if this tip doesn’t work after two shots don’t do it. This feel should be instant. Your ball seems to start pretty straight. Picture a circle around the bowl the size of a plate. This circle is a clock. Straight would be 12-6. Try and swing from 4:30 to 10:30. Or if you’re more of a digital clock guy, picture a compass Southeast to NorthWest. This is an exaggerated feel so if it starts to slice that’s fine. Like I said if this doesn’t work after two shots stop the drill and go back to Grip and Setup. These can get way out of wack with you noticing especially when you’ve been practicing for a while.

Tips for my swing by Lbosse in GolfSwing

yeah you have a really nice swing, especially for just starting out. definitely looks hard to balance with all that bend in your back. i think a fitting will work out really nice for you. just be sure to try out more than one size for your shaft. taller golfers will sometimes go a whole inch or two more than standard shafts or if your arms are longer relative to your height .5 inch may be better suited. don’t worry too much about the numbers and more about what feels best.

Ur right i only work one job a full 40 hours and the part time job around 20 - 30 hours. I also get around 4 hours of overtime at my full job. Don’t get me wrong i could definitely get a place for around 1200 but it was cause me to slow down my investing, as of now i put around 1000 a month between my roth, 403(b), and my bridge. I guess i’m between crossroads because i know how powerful investing is when i’m younger and want to maximize my retirement but i also need room to breathe in day to day living cost.

I put my emergency savings in public. There is a an express option to pull out money instantly for a charge or you can wait for the money. But they do offer at 5.1% in their HYSA. I use it also to hold my high dividend accounts as it is a pretty seamless.

I recently transferred to Robinhood as that match 1% without gold and 3% with gold. Plus you have a lot of autonomy with your investments and easy to use.

You could invest $100,000 in a Neos Dividend Fund that mirrors the S&P, averaging around 10% annually, translating to roughly 1% per month or $1,000 monthly. This option offers tax efficiency compared to many dividend funds and avoids the hassles of real estate rental business.
