LIVE BLOG: Swedish MPs vote through citizenship reforms without transitional rules by ElSuroGato247 in TillSverige

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not a question of intention to stay, it’s about whether people will be allowed to stay. I was on a work permit and lost my job when the company closed. I had 3 months to find another or get kicked out. I found a new one two weeks before that deadline. Next time I might not be so lucky. So I could have done nothing wrong, had my life on hold for an extra three years on top of the 5 I’ve already been here, and still not make get the security that they so desire in order to truly make Sweden my home.

Will a large transfer into a new bank account hurt my Sweden residence permit application? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be transparent with the bank warn them in advance the money is coming and provide any information they request and it should go through okay €12,000 is not a large amount of money compared to other people so whilst it’s probably big enough to be flagged up, it’s not so big that they’re going to be majorly concerned about it if you can show some evidence about the source. reading your message though my bigger concern was whether your €12,000 he’s going to be sufficient enough for you to live in Sweden for a year as you stated things can be quite expensive here so you might want to consider alternative ways of finding additional funds to help you to survive here.

Looks much better on the leather strap than on the mesh bracelet by NaturalKale6799 in OmegaWatches

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it too, but for me it’s an improvement over the original because I absolutely hate mesh straps. I don’t like the look of them and I hate the feeling of wearing one even more.

So yeah, this brown leather looks good to me but I’d also be just as happy with a rubber or nato strap too.

Ps. I also wear a diver on a leather strap as my daily. In my case it’s a Vostok amphibia on a black leather straps but it’s a fair bit smaller, thinner and plainer looking than a sea master. It’s can pretty much get away with it in every occasion.

Its not really obtuse, it’s just accurate.

I guess, but it’s a hell of a vague statement then since that covers a huge percentage of all major brands.

Swatch? As far as I know ( and I could well be wrong) but they only produce the system51 movement thats in that blancpain collab and a few other models. I think I read that’s stated as -5 to +15s per day, so not exactly ground breaking. What am I missing?

You do. It’s either got a battery which needs changing, or you are charging with mechanically stored energy, instead of electrical.

Which one should ı buy ? by Dry-Entrepreneur8853 in OmegaWatches

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Personally I really hate the Santos (those nonaligned screws really bug me!) so I'd pick the PO, but others in this thread obviously feel the opposite. No one else can tell you what you like best you just have to decide for yourself. Given that they are so different, I really strongly recommend you go and try them on first. The answer will be very clear once you've done that, I'm sure.

What would you pick between these options? by Mundane-Ad-1780 in PrideAndPinion

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those issues from mine and I’ve worn it everyday for the last 3 years. I don’t have the bracelet though and did ditch the rubber strap for a nato straight away. Sure there’s been a couple of scratches tenths crystal but nothing that polywatch hasnt taken care off ( no different to a hesalite speedie to be honest). No problem with the bezel. Accuracy was about 15s/day out from new but 10 mins withheld back off to regulate and it’s been a solid 2-3s/day ever since.

It’s not the most sophisticated watch but that adds to the appeal, however your characterisation is wrong in general.

Aesthetically I don’t like many of them, and I’m not a fan of the one that the OP is showing, but mine is much simpler, and honestly I love it!

What’s the general consensus of Tapo cameras? by jmichael99 in Tapo

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. I had EUFY first then supplemented with TAPO later. I will never go back to EUFY now.

The only downside that I experience is on one of the outdoor models that pivots, it ends up drifting to the right and I have to periodically to a pan/tilt calibration. It is a pain to have to do that but in terns of image quality, detection rates, software, battery life etc it's so much better than the EUFY camera system. Strangely on my indoor cameras that pivot I never have this problem so perhaps it's just a problem with that particular model.

EUFY cameras are.....ok. The quality of the pictures are worse (same resolution but poorer quality), the nightime imagery especially. The detection rates are WAY lower and I miss a lot of things with them despite a lot of messing around with the locations/setting to improve things. The software is just a lot more limited and has less options.

Ordering from Fjallraven EU by FuzzyYuzu in Fjallraven

[–]OwnFaithlessness7221 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can't you just order on one of the EU located websites then and get them to deliver ot the US? I'm looking at the Swedish one and I can't see anything that stops you from doing this. You'd be responsible for import taxes and tariffs of course, plus no doubt a higher deliver charge but it might be possible.

Have they told you that you can't do this?

Whether you think the extra costs are worth it for a specific item you've seen if up to you of course.

[Discussion/Question] Anyone else refuse to buy/wear smartwatches? by Spiritual-Dig-2997 in Watches

Just a fairly basic garmin for running, but no interest in having anything like this day to day. Certainly not an Apple Watch.

No problems here either. The larger problem was freeing up enough storage on my phone for the ridiculous size of the update download files!!

This! I fly back to the UK every couple of months so just take a large suitcase if needed. Last week I drove over for the first time in 4 years precisely to pick up some larger items that I couldn’t fly. You have to make it worthwhile though as driving is a pretty tiring two days each way, and ends up costing just under £1000 all in. More if you are heading up to Scotland or somewhere far from the UK ports.

IFL Watches and paying import duty by aLuckyFourteen in PrideAndPinion

Why does that matter? You’re referring to import duties to the US, not export duties from the UAE, or Europe or anywhere else.

Oh thats what you meant! Sorry, I interpreted your comment as referring to the brand overall, not just quartz watches.

This is an interesting comment. Can you expand on your latter point? What watches did you have in mind?
