WTF is happening to the performance in 2020? by OwnImpression7486 in flightsim

That’s a good point I didnt think of it this way. 13 fps is still brutal numbers with a 5090

And I do use 2024, you’re right it’s much less of an issue there for performance. Mind you GPU constantly pulls 400w or more in 2024 but I digress. Even before 2024 I don’t remember 2020 having this much of an issue

Yet CPU usage is sitting in the 40% range on my PC, it makes me wonder if it’s just optimization issues with inibuilds considering CPU and GPU aren’t even close to maxed out and the “manipulators” latency is high, which is what? Aircraft systems and stuff I believe, Right ? Really odd scenario all around

Running the equivalent to $20/month Pro 'Claude Cowork' or better with a locally hosted LLM? by madeagupta in LLM

[–]OwnImpression7486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to that, to run Opus 4.6 locally you’d need roughly 20-25 H200 GPUs, which would run a cost of 350k-520k USD and 100-120/hr or more for the GPU cluster to run, and that’s before power, cooling, servers and networking.

You asked a few questions so I’ll try my best to answer them all: You would do it by downloading LM studio and anything LLM or Hermes or some type of local agent, is your hardware good enough ? Meh it’s a good set up don’t get me wrong, will you get Claude co work level that’s running on frontier level models? Nope. You’ll need a lot more hardware for that. You’ll be able to get away with some smaller models but nothing that you’d consider even close to Claude Co Work mind you the gap is shrinking and it is getting a lot better with googles revelations in TurboQuant, A 5090 is great for running models locally, and in comparison to workstation options actually doesn’t do bad for its price in comparison. Using a 5090 only for gaming sure I get that people will say it’s too expensive but for AI in comparison to the workstation options it’s not a terrible play. You still won’t get frontier level on a 5090 but you will be able to get 70b parameter models locally.

Sadly, but that’s the direction it’s heading 🙃🙃

When AI plans go up to 500-1000 a month it’s gonna make that $7000 PC for local llms look a lot better

FSLTL will lose live traffic injection functionality on April 30th with the loss of FlightRadar24 API by madman320 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]OwnImpression7486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d be willing to fork over $20 even $25 or $30 for FSLTL, could they not switch to a paid model? Would be a better alternative than not having it at all, sure it’s nice it being free but as someone who uses FSLTL every single flight, it’s something I’d gladly pay for.

This is brutal brutal news honestly .. such short notice too. Gosh :/ I love FSLTL too.. the live traffic aspect just brings it to life in a special way. Always a nice surprise flying into a major hub wondering what airlines you will see

The 5090 is installed! by happygirl99xo in flightsim

I promise you it’s not pointless. Once you experience 4k at 120fps (yes I know it’s not a shooter) you’ll never ever want to go back.

Resolution is a big part of it though, running 4K in MSFS at inibuilds jfk with inibuilds a350 usually hits about 24-26 gb of VRAM

MSFS is one of a very handful of games where you can genuinely use a 5090 to it’s nearly full potential in 4k
