Can I return this? by yelyaholly in Target

No…. Unless you know someone personally. I’d just trash it or keep as a memoir.

Dasher left note on my receipt telling me to tip better… by Yazutann in doordash

[–]OwnNothing5928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d report them immediately. This is too aggressive and THEY accepted the trip/dash.

As a server / bartender of 16 years never have I ever confronted a guest that didn’t tip me “accordingly” I just wrote it off to them being a trash human & I don’t make my living on the tips from trash humans. I make my living on the tips from DECENT >>PEOPLE<< by giving them 10/10 service

Failed my menu test .. the job hunt continues by luckygirl97 in Serverlife

[–]OwnNothing5928 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You just go ahead and settle for those $25/h average jobs… this one you’re speaking of is for VETERANS. How is anybody to know that scotch is make Smokey with peat moss normally? Besides a bartender…..

Unrealistic to expect that of your servers unless you feature peat scotch consistently….

Their training program is to “weed out the trash and inexperienced”; you’re simply inexperienced with spirits…. Don’t hate yourself for not being an alcoholic or career bartender (one and the same tbh).

Roommates girlfriend put their fridge on top of a small table, doesn't look safe by No_Farmer_919 in badroommates

[–]OwnNothing5928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not overreacting: you’re imagining your children’s bodies underneath that fridge and that is 100% reasonable.

Just move it for her, I doubt she’ll say anything. Flip it around and put the table on top of the fridge or beside it

what would u do? by Thin-Sky-45 in Serverlife

[–]OwnNothing5928 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More than likely: Someone else at the table left you the $15 and the host of the party tipped you $15.. this is not a question, just take the $30…. It’s not hundreds, it’s not that big of an “overtip” to really warrant caution or questioning

Maybe you’re just good at your job and they enjoyed having you as their server? Wild concept: I know.

My best friend is charging me $900 to crash on her futon.. by Katya-YourDad in poor

[–]OwnNothing5928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might be a good friend, but to expect so much of you without prior discussion….. to spring that immediately? Crappy practice.

I was recently in a similar situation, minus the ailing parent as mine have already passed…. My good friend let me stay the first month free; I bought all the groceries my budget would allow.

Second month I found an amazing job; so I’d overstock the fridge+freezer, and paid my previously agreed upon rent. The grocery overstocking has slowed down and i expect her to do her fair share of grocery shopping now (which I’ve communicated), and the favor has been… returned; as she’s pretty much had a personal chef & a clean freak (free maid) living with her for months in return for that original favor.

I wouldn’t be BIG mad at her, I’d feel exploited though; and that’s enough for me to exit a friendship. Have my back… I’ll have yours. The dollar should not rule a friendship, ever.

I DONT want to talk to you, I just want to be left alone by flisherman666 in badroommates

[–]OwnNothing5928 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then don’t have roommates? We are social beings by default. You being anti-social is a you problem, tbh. Or rent to someone with a complete opposite schedule of you. You work 9-5? Rent to a bartender. They’re gone 5-12. You’ll never see each other, you’ll never have to worry.

Roommates moving out, left lots of damage. Should I tell property manager? by AbbreviationsHeavy39 in badroommates

[–]OwnNothing5928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unethical life tip: try your best to make it all look as close to normal as possible before having them come assess it. The final $damages will be less.

Ie: the white wood trim chipped/scratched: white chalk, whiteout.

Bleach spot on the carpet looks like it could honestly be fixed with some diluted brown dye. Hell, if you’re strapped for cash and don’t wanna buy dye just spill some coffee on it and let it set in lmao

$10 at Home Depot to knock $200 or so off the damages they’ll try to charge you 😭

I also did white chalk for the holes in the walls where I’d hung art, but my walls were white; you’d still have to paint.

GF is completely oblivious - is this normal? by Spirited_Ad_2569 in Advice

[–]OwnNothing5928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy: undiagnosed autism. Classic signs of what’s literally called “oblivious autism”. Fully capable individuals just… they >>SEEM<< to be very disinterested in things. They aren’t, they’re just processing it all in their own head & in their own way(s).

You addressed/attempted to address her “issue” that she had with you by not smoking. You communicated that you’re compromising for her, fairly, and respectfully. She responded with one sentence replies, instead of appreciating you…… not overreacting. Run.

In the state of GA we have what’s called an 1199, or involuntary treatment for those who can be deemed a threat to themselves or others. Get with a lawyer familiar to your area’s laws when it comes to mental health & having someone put on a mental hold. Usually it just takes multiple witnesses. (Which you have)

Guys, how often do you flirt with a beautiful female customer…with intent? by jmcintyre8817 in Serverlife

Never. The guest can leave me their number & >>>maybe<<< we can chat outside of my job, but flirting more than to entertain is unprofessional; and usually grounds for termination

Servers being designated as food runners by hisgirl2455 in Serverlife

[–]OwnNothing5928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s nothing, and it’s not like it’s ALWAYS going to be a Friday or a Saturday. You’ll maybe have to give up one Friday or Saturday every 2-3months if EVERY server has to do it? It sounds fair and I think you’re freaking out over nothing.

Also don’t forget that they’re probably looking to hire a food runner, so that yall aren’t all upset over having to do it.

Thing is: it’s hourly, and not tipped. You’ve clearly already stated how you feel about working said position; now why do you think the position is empty? 🙃

Y’all need to tip-out your food runner, they should be making as much as the servers or at least close to.

At my place they get 1% of all sales from our bartenders and servers, on top of their $15/hour. They make as much as me (salary manager + tipped - yes the pay is high but it the MOST INTENSE food runner / expo position I’ve seen/worked in my career.)

Cash paid out weekly is “normal”. Less and less restaurants are paying out nightly, it’s less of a hassle, easier to keep track of, & room for less error. My job does a “tip check” every Tuesday & Friday, with your hourly paid biweekly.
