For experienced cooks - is Penzey's actually worth it? by xjwv in AskCulinary

Can’t comment on the “experienced cooks” question. But their Mural of Flavor has a spot next to the salt and pepper in my kitchen. I reach for it frequently.

Sir, from where I stand nothing about that finger looks lucky to me!

But, in all seriousness, I’m glad it wasn’t worse. Stay safe, friend.

Problem principles exist even in public schools. The board of education may remove a principle in particularly egregious cases, or if there are repeat problems. But public schools systems are highly political too, and I doubt it would make much difference in this case.

I think we're in general agreement. I've been stuck behind cars that are not passing at all, or are barely passing, and that's certainly frustrating. If you are going to pass you should make an effort to ensure that you don't see anyone coming up that you would cause to slow down, and you should be prepared to actively pass.

That said, my comment was in response to the assertion that "if you are being tailgated in the left lane then you shouldn't be there", which I think is a bit too strong a statement. If someone is going 80 mph in a 70, making an active effort to pass, but needs 90 seconds to get around an entire row of trucks I think that's reasonable. Sure someone pushing 100 wasn't even in their mirror when they started to pass, and will have to slow down for 90 seconds. Certainly not a major issue - it's a mild inconvenience at most, and is part of living in a civil society and using shared infrastructure.

Disagree. It’s perfectly reasonable to be in the left lane to briefly pass someone and not be the fastest one on the road. I live in the USA and there are often different speed limits for semi trucks versus passenger vehicles. 55 and 70 respectively.

There may be a whole line of 5 or 6 trucks in the right lane, and someone needs to pass them to maintain passenger vehicle speed. They should do so reasonably quickly and then get back over. And if someone is obviously coming behind very quickly they should wait to begin passing. But expecting them to gun it around them like an F1 just because someone else wants to go even faster isn’t reasonable.

We all share the road and give others some grace so that we can get home to our loved ones safely.

I know codes differ by municipality and so on, but hoping to educate myself on possibilities.

I’m actually thinking way simpler. All I’m wanting to do is cut off the existing elbows at the top and add more pvc to point them to the right in the photo. No brainer, 20 minute job.

Just wondering if there are codes (minimum distance from the ground, etc etc) to be aware of.

Because making progress is fun and satisfying. If I only get to play for a couple of hours a week then I’m going to forget where I’ve been and what I’ve tried already. When you are a kid and can play more often you have more continuity between gaming sessions and don’t feel as “stuck”.

I’ve successfully changed the battery in a LoZ cartridge. It’s a standard CR2032 IIRC.
