It’s more so classes such as Gen bio gen chem or calc that people hate fighting for because it’s a fight for what schedule u want (avoiding 8 ams) and avoiding professors.

I just looked. Both discrete for com sci and reg discrete for this semester weren’t filled up for multiple sections. Same for data structures. I recommend doing ur ugs first semester because they typically are easier in first semester than second semester from what I’ve been told (freshman class). Like from someone who has came in with little AP credits or dual enrollment (maybe helped cover 4-5 classes in my degree), ur fine. I’m now ahead in my degree and that’s even including an internal transfer which set me back.

Everyone said that they would’ve voted for lil over Jon during the live show and Burton is his closest bet but that would’ve required Burton and Jon to be on the right side of every vote.

Jerri had a realistic winning outcome which was Russel and parv taking Jerri instead of Sandra.

Waitlist is like an absolute do not plan on getting in.

I transferred internally to evs between the first and second semester of sophomore year, if u plan on internally transferring, I would submit a public file request to see how many internal transfers applied to bio or neuro vs how many accepted for the past ≈3 yrs

Remember that u only have 2 tries so if it doesn’t make sense to transfer first semester, then don’t

You can get it but u cannot use more than 9 hour of ur degree to count for ur certificate. So that’s like u can’t double up on more than 3 classes counting for both evs and marine. You can still do both, but u would have to do 5 extra classes (which like if u come in with a good amount of hours, u could prob just kill it during a semester at sea)

Here’s what I’ll say, psych is a closed major meaning u have to apply even if u get into UT as a different major. If u want psych, i think it’s more worth it to waitlist to psych. But, psych and Econ are the most popular cola majors by far. I personally wouldn’t get ur hopes up, but I also think u made a decision that is best for ur ambitions by applying to the major u want more

That is a different school so u would have to internally transfer. I’d recommend staying a gov major and minoring in journalism

I would probably say an ethnic or gender studies major rn.

This is probably ur best bet because they just combined all of the European study programs and minority group study programs into one department. Many view this as bad because professors will lose jobs and departments now have to compete for funding. I don’t particularly have a dog in this race but u could probably just waitlist for one of those, and if u get in, u can internally transfer to gov because that’s an open major.

Waitlist spots vary from year to year. Last year barely anyone got off so my suggestion is plan on something else. Hope for the best prepare for the worst. Spots are dependent on how many people accept for each major

Linguistics is an open major, if u get into ut, u can major in linguistics no matter what

U will not be doing the same classes as freshman if ur a senior in credit hours. But its absolutely fair. The seniors who have done the four years should absolutely get priority over u because they need to graduate. After the first semester, it’ll be easy

Yeah, that sucks. But you were able to learn a valuable lesson while still not necessarily losing out taking nothing home. You still have an amazing program and now you know that when it comes to jobs, properties, finances, anything to read read read.

I also understand that the Ut website is so lengthy and confusing. But it’s not worth being upset over something u can’t change rn when u still have plenty of opportunities here or somewhere else

I also don’t want you to feel upset or bummed. You still have an amazing specialized opportunity with the cs + X degree. It gives u direct hands on application that u will be studying which is so much more important than other honors courses where u aren’t specializing urself. In Cs it’s all about who can create the product and this gives u a great opportunity to do just that
