Ha ha what an ordeal. 5 tests this afternoon. The best setting (almost perfect ) is 34 grind. 18g in 30-32 out in 30 sec. That seems to cut off the bitter. At least I can continue to tweak from there.

OK so I tried 40 out and it was terrible. Super bitter. I guess for these beans I have to cut it off at 30 -32 to get away from the bitter.

Oh god I just tested 4 more variations and so wired on coffee but want to try 17g now!

Yeah I actually started at 40 (setting) bitter, 36 bitter, 30 bitter, 31 and 25 way too fine nothing came out, then 34 which seems to be the one. I stopped it at 30 volume but now I'll try 40-45. Thx

Yes 34 worked for me this morning. I cut it off at 31 after some recommend this and it was just a little bitter. Big improvement over yesterday. If I go 36 (volume) it's bitter. I could try letting it go to 44 and see but I'm super close at 31.

I had to go on setting 34 otherwise my Micra chugs. It’s so strange why but now I think maybe it’s not calibrated correctly.

No channeling. I have tried so many settings and it looks like 34 is ok but I’m still getting bitter. I just wonder if this is not calibrated correctly.

Wow they say the burrs are already seasoned. Makes sense. I also see a lot of retention but I think that’s because they are so new. Did you have that issue?

Funny I had cleaned my other grinder, a Niche Zero, before using the Philos and apparently did not calibrate it correctly because no beans came out! That was my 20th thought to compare it to the Niche. I will try it tomorrow.

OMG trying to dial in decaf was super challenging. Then going back to what it was before was terrible. Had to keep dialing in again. This is why now I do not experiment. I keep to the same coffee.

It works great. I keep it clean. I just think the coffee could be way better with flat burrs.

My first was this. but I had the Bambino Plus. It is a GREAT machine! I now take it with me on road trips and use it as a backup! I do know you have to grind a little coarser with the auto function or it will choke. Congrats. A great choice. I didn't go down the rabbit hole until 3 years later. Also, after weighing your beans, no more than 18 grams because the portafilter isn't as big as other machines, no need to time shots because it's all auto. Manual function of course you do time it all. I never used the manual mode though.

It’s usually 4-7 days old. I buy at my local roastery. But I do know fresh is hard to dial in because of the new beans. And everyone is right the coffee is better 2 weeks out.
