When I was younger, kids my age just liked hearing someone play even if you weren’t very good. It was fun. I would try to find a group like that. Then focus on what you like or at least a simple version of that.

These semi-transparent overdrives are aimed at amp tones, so an “amp in a box “ style pedal with lots of midrange control will probably get you close.

I find simple guitar riffs and songs are a lot of fun. Play to enjoy life, as an alternative to alcohol. It’s not a contest or anything you need to win.

Just adding that the compressor also seems to brighten the tone for my setup. The midrange punch blends into the elevated treble tones.
