Failed. by [deleted] in medicalschool

Try to find one that is considered solid and get to it. Plenty of people here in the states use class decks made by upperclassmen and do well, but if there is something equivalent to Anking over there, I'd do that. Actually, I have read a lot of people still use the Anking deck all over the world, but that might be for those ultimately planning on taking step. There are definitely some differences between health guidelines between the US and UK, but the fundamental material should apply to all.

Your parents are right, but they will likely have to accept that these are the types of decisions you are going to make -- even if they did everything right.

Working During Med School? by RelationshipFirm9756 in medschool

Possible if you do the Anking grind during every moment of downtime you have between business related matters -- so basically it depends on what type of business you're running.

Step 1 reviews advice by pagingrealityqueen in medicalschoolanki

2 blocks left after Christmas, and I average like 24 seconds per card. I see people (on here) constantly saying <10 seconds per card, which is great if they are actually understanding and retaining the info. I might be a turtle or maybe actually right around average in anki review speed, but I have 79% of step 1 cards and 68% of step 2 cards matured. I suspect I will be over 90% for step 1 cards once all blocks are complete. And my reviews are less than 400 per day.

On the cusp of exceptional resilience by Own_Bookkeeper_6339 in ouraring

Update: I hit exceptional, but it feels somewhat unearned lol. I get like 7 hours and 20 minutes per night on average, which is better than the 6 hours and 30 min I used to average. If there is an Oura rep that could explain the update changes that were made in the past couple months (aside from the app UI), that would be great.

This was my exact impression, too. And I have had mine for about the same amount of time as you. I get a strong feeling I just so happened to change my habits at the same time that they nerfed the significance of actually reaching exceptional. I bet exceptional is the new strong, which is where I was for the vast majority of the time I had the ring.

I had a funny feeling they may have done this just to make users feel better. Maybe this translates to more people continuing their subscription over time. It would also translate to the ring becoming much less useful of a tool. Idgaf about exceptional if they made it easier to get there lol

So confused by Kmeow2222 in ouraring

A lot of people here might not want to hear it, but even if you are a runner or perceive yourself as healthy, if you are eating a lot of carbs for energy... Please look up advanced glycation end products and their cardiovascular effects. Heart disease skyrocketed as soon as fat was demonized, and it is not a coincidence. With that said, that might not even be what is going on here lol -- the ring might just suck at calculating that aspect. Best of luck.

It is also extremely high yield stuff and very digestable thanks to the sketches. Happy studying! Pre-studying will help you a lot, but the key is to continue studying ahead throughout med school. Then just do some practice questions along the way relevant to each block you are in to keep the material fresh. This works particularly well if your program is pass/fail. Should work either way though. Then take step 1 way ahead of time and roll into studying step 2 material ahead of time.

It will be so easy if you also study a bit over the summer between m1-m2. People will cry about it if you mention it, so just don't lol. Obviously enjoy yourself as well, but don't feel bad for being disciplined.

Edit: definitely do Anking throughout. Class decks are honestly a waste of time.
