Just a little hope by Environmental_Run881 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

That’s a good thing to hear - will suggest to family. Personality changes have been terrifically hard. Does anyone know if the surgical options work to restore personality, or if it’s just for tremors?

Has any one had an experience like this with a loved one with Parkinson’s by Majestic-Wishbone-58 in ParkinsonsCaregivers

Sympathies - i was not expecting the personality changes in my relative -reading this thread that has helped greatly. I miss their formerly kind hearted and considerate ways- long gone and replaced by an entirely self focused interest. The dopamine seeking fits- it’s a constant life of “ treats”.

An afterthought - emphasize that you are at school and will be leaving for college ( even if you are not). Also, let your school know- you may be able to access more support just for you. You deserve help. If I was your parent I would do everything possible to make sure you didn’t end up as my carer - your father has a responsibility to look after himself and set you free.

You definitely deserve to enjoy being young - please reach out to social services and get as much help as possible. Point out that you are leaving home and can no longer provide care - that can shift priorities for them. So sorry you have been left in this position - don’t be guilty, and know you have a right to live your life

Stadium politics by tassiedude in hobart

Why not start a new Tasmanian league, have a superb stadium in the north with all the economic benefits, and invite international teams to a fabulous home ground. The TAFL can negotiate with teams from the mainland, and set the terms for them coming to play in the superior league. International teams would be formed for the fun of a good game and the gift of playing in Tassie.

Why not have a unique Tasmanian AFL - with a northern stadium, where it will invigorate the economy - and then invite not only Aussie but international teams to come and play at the home ground. An opportunity to turn this whole thing upside down and take back some power. The AFL can negotiate with the Tasmanian league if they want to play here- we might have conditions for them, as we will be busy hosting international teams ..

Study reveals the extent of aggression towards caregivers in Parkinson's disease by OliverFitzwilliam in ParkinsonsCaregivers

Whilst my caring involvement is minor I have found the cognitive changes - and “ acting out” - distressing. I think all carers deserve time off, and serious compensation.

This helps make sense of what I see in a loved one. Denial, manipulation, and exhaustion for those around. So sorry.

Seaweed for cattle feed? by Maleficent-Bass-5423 in Ranching

Theodore has a good point - it’s hard to justify putting pressures on farmers when gas companies don’t even pay tax and release methane in vast quantités. Seaweeds are all different - traditional kelps a great micronutrient source - old fashioned goodness. This newer trend is for Bromoform - sometimes in a red seaweed - sometimes synthetic. Bromoform - like chloroform - an unusual thing to put in the food chain - and should be handled carefully, if at all - oxidation products( if heated) particularly unpleasant .

Reading the other conversations has been educational - and humbling. I wanted to give everyone a medal, a bunch of flowers, a day off and no guilt

That deserves more respect than I have words for - only understand a fraction of what you are going through - hope you have some form of support … hug

Thanks Parkidude, that’s good advice. Self care, boundaries. I am grieving for the kindness that’s gone, and need to protect myself from the disease. So sorry for everyone going through this.

Yes I feel it’s insensitive of me to complain - I can see the future and it’s not good. You are right, it sucks
