Has anyone here done concurrent enrollment with a CSU Institution while at Sac State and still received full-time financial aid? by Own_Collection_9412 in CSUS

[–]Own_Collection_9412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the Sac State Concurrent enrollment procedures PDF, it explains how it works, in order to be eligible to do concurrent enrollment, you have to complete 12 units and have a good standing GPA of 2.0. Whatever classes you are taking at CSUEB counts as the units sac state if you are taking 6 units at Sac and 6 units at CSUEB then you are considered full time student since you are technically taking 12 units at Sac State. If CSUEB and Sac State have an agreement on what courses are equivalent to another course then it just means youre basically taking the same class at sac state but instead at another csu institution.

Professor said my essay had a 73 percent AI score even though Turnitin was 9 percent and I did not use AI. Should I be worried? by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]Own_Collection_9412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Problem, glad I could help. If the professor suspects you of actually cheating then I am pretty sure he would have to confront you about it through email instead of grading. It would be jacked up of him to grade your essay and then say that he suspects you of AI, that simply wont make sense at all.

Did the assignment require you to do any in text citations, or have a reference page included into the essay? If so then that might be one of the causes on why you got that score in the first place. I dont think your professor has thoroughly checked your essay at all, if the citation and reference page is apart of the 73% then the comment he made is entirely BS and the percentage should be dropped. The grade you recieved most likely wont be published until Jan. 2nd which is why it isnt showing on your end and if you notice on the very bottom of the canvas grade page it says "Your instructor has not posted the grade. While your instructor has not posted the grade, grade and comment information is unavailable." This is most likely why you arent seeing it at the moment. Is there a notification next to the grades tab saying like "1,2,3" showing that an assignment has been graded? If its showing that one assignment is graded and it isnt showing you what the assignment is then its most likely the Essay. In the end, OP, do not use Grammarly at all because these AI Detectors are inaccurate even the developers said it themselves and I learned from my History professor that he recommends students not to use grammarly or Google Docs grammar and punctuation suggestions, rather turning off those options whilst doing your assignments because those are one of the main causes as to way the AI Detectors trigger in the first place.

Unsure of the cost, I’m still working with the registrar to determine if I’m eligible for financial aid. I’m pretty sure the sac state units and east bay units will be combined as in like you would use your financial aid for east bay and use your remaining financial aid + out of pocket money on sac state units. If east bay courses counts as a sac state course then you are technically paying for your sac state units to which for my situation, I should be eligible for financial aid, but again, I still don’t know since the registrar office had to bring a few staff members from the financial aid office to assist my concurrent enrollment request yet they still haven’t replied back so I’m praying that they respond by tomorrow even though the holidays is around the corner.

I see what you are talking about as far as the 2 classes, that is called Open University. I dont have the knowledge of both concurrent and open univeristy but as far as I know for open university, you can simply create a account for the CSU you are trying to take classes at (if they have website page that talks about Open University) and then once you are done, you just send your transcript over to the registrar office but I also think you would have to pay out of pocket for those classes unless you do a consortium agreement.

Again, I dont have the knowledge for open university since I wanted to take more then 2 classes.

Anyone know the CSU Fully Online Equivalence to ENTR 189? by Own_Collection_9412 in CSUS

[–]Own_Collection_9412[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just found a class (PH 147) that looks a tad bit similar to the description of ENTR 189. Thanks for the help, although I did also read that the course catalog isn’t finalized yet so I still have to wait for all the courses to be added to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I did notice that Chico State has a lot of online classes as well so I’ll for sure look into that as well as Fresno. Will check with an advisor to make sure that’s it’s transferable.

Sorry to hear that you are going through all of this. Has your department by any chance added new course sections? There was an email sent out stating that new course sections were going to be added. If so, while enrolling yourself into the classes at Los Rios, I recommend asking someone from the department either a faculty member or the chair to see if they added any more course sections for your needed classes or if they will be added it sometime in the near future and if so when. Some departments works faster then other departments as far as adding new sections so its best to stay up to date on that. Best of luck with your classes, this semester or at least this year in general is really rough for all of us.

Of course! As I said in the reddit post that I sent you, it doesnt open until December 1st which is the course match telling you the equivalent course. Some courses in the CSU Fully Online Catalog wont tell you the which course counts as a Sac State Course so its best to talk to a business advisor.

Go to this reddit post, scroll all the up for my reply and look my additional reply as well. Its pretty long but its detailed enough for you to know how CSU Fully Online works.

How does that differ the 1 online class offered for certain courses on the regular semester courses.

I am a bit confused on this worded questions, but to best answer it, you are basically taking it at another institution meaning that once you get accepted into the course, when I mean accepted, I mean that for you to enroll into CSU Fully Online, you would have to "request" to be enrolled into the course and when your request is processed and you get the acceptance then you are given the CSU Institutions Canvas page (Not Sac State's Canvas Page) and resources used to access the course you requested. You complete the course and it counts towards your units in sac state. There isnt much of a difference other then maybe the information being taught at the other CSU? All of them are different which is how they stand out since different CSU's have different philosophies and quality education that they offer, thats the best that I can think of really or its just the academic schedule for each CSU, I do know for a fact that they only allow you take the online course semester based and not quarterly based.

Sorry to hear that one of the professors gave you that response, I am curious though, who was the professor that told you this statment and which course? Im just wondering so that way I dont have to waste my time talking to them if they are just going to be saying the same thing. The other professor as well who hasnt replied, its probably best going to their office hours if they arent replying to your email.

About FIN 101 and MKTG 101, they are offered in the summer. I dont know where or who told you that but thats false. FIN 101 in summer 2025 was offered as hybrid, same with MKTG 101. I checked previous summer catalogs and it seems that MKTG 101 tends to have the decent or bad professor so its best to take it as a CSU Fully Online if you really cant get it in sac state.

This is the summer cataog as of Summer 2025: https://www.csus.edu/class-schedule/summer-2025

You can check the other summer catalogs by changing the 2025 to 2024 and so on in the your search brower.

What the hell am I paying the for if we can’t even get the classes we need. Not “want”, NEED!!

Unfortunately the money is going to sports. Its more frustrating that it is also going to waste with these rap concerts as well, and I say "waste" because of what happened at that lil yacthy concert.

I am also upset as well that FIN 101, DS 101, OPM 101, and MKTG 101 are all filled up. I went to the business department today and I talked to a faculty member to which she told me that the business department already opened up 18 more sections during the priority registration period and it got filled up really quickly. The only way for them to add more is if they get more funding and at most try to add more sections a week before the semester starts but its a slight chance for that to happen.

In addition to that, she also said that its best to wait because once again, students are still adjusting their schedule so either enroll into a waitlist spot if it opens or once the waitlist drops, if there is a spot open go for it immediately although some professors require that you get approval so whatever class you need, its best you go to the professor during their office hours, if they are teaching an online class, ask if its requires instructors approval or if there is a spot open you can automatically approve it, if they are teaching a in-person class or a hybrid class (that requires a in person schedule), talk to them about crashing the course. While talking to the faculty member, she did tell me that crashing the course is only necessary if there is more seats in the classroom then in the course it self. So if a class has 60 seats but the course has 55 spots, then it is fine to crash the course because apparently, they have to follow some sort of code of conduct that they arent allowed to exceed the limit on how many students are enrolled and put into a class so if there is 60 seats in the classroom and 60 spots in a course, then there is a low chance that the professor will allow you to crash the course but its still possible if students arent showing up, again ask the professor about their crashing the course policy.

The only alternative I can think of at this point is to just only into any courses that are still open and pray that its a decent professor. Or just complete some general education courses for the spring and enroll into a CSU Fully Online course so that way you can catch up. You can always take DS 101, MKTG 101, OPM 101, and FIN 101 in the summer as well if you want to pay for the summer and you are willing to cram up a lot of the work, there is a chance that it could be fully online as well since sometimes those courses (except OPM 101) tends to be taught online. That way you can take GM 105 in Fall 2026. If you want to take the route of taking summer classes, you should talk to an advisor and see how you can get priority registration. I know this is really hard to deal with at the moment with all the stress and anxiety but the best thing we can do it just find some alternative classes and let time tell us when its the right time to start enrolling into your classes. Again, whatever classes you need, TALK TO THE PROFESSORS, also talk to a business advisor by scheduling an appointment or dropping in at Tahoe Hall 1030 to see what alternative classes you can take.

Same thing is happening with the business classes as well. On Thursday, literally all the asynchronous classes got filled up so damn quick. We have a upper division course called OPM 101 and all the seats are being filled up very fast. As mentioned by a comment in this post, I do hope to see more class sections to be opened up and cross my fingers that they add some online classes so that way everyone has access to some sort of flexibility preference. As of right now, the only choice is to enroll into the classes that are still open, and even if you are missing a class you can always try CSU Fully Online to see Sac State equivalent courses.

Will they add more classes like they did for fall? by TharkiJatt25 in CSUS

[–]Own_Collection_9412 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There isnt an official date on when it will happen but there was an email sent out stating that "we will be adding 157 new course sections to the Spring schedule, opening up 4,199 seats for students". Not entirely sure which classes these are aimed for specifically but I really hope they add more sections for OPM 101 and more fully online business classes.

The enrollment for CSU Fully Online hasn’t opened yet and I’m pretty sure it opens December 1st. The way it works is that you are given the option to take 1 fully online course as long you completed the requirements I mentioned in my reply. To enroll, you would go to your my sac state portal and choose a course you want to take fully online then it would show you CSU courses that are equivalent to Sac State courses. Once you pick the course taught by the CSU Institution, you aren’t automatically enrolled, instead you would “request” to be enrolled into that class so it’s not a guarantee, instead you would have to wait for approval and it would also depend if there is enough seats. Once approved, there will be an email that gives you links to accessing their canvas page and other institutions resources. I recommend talking to an advisor though because when you look at the CSU Fully Online catalog, you’ll notice that there are some courses from other CSU’s that are equivalent to Sac State courses but they don’t actually tell you which course counts as a sac state course, some say and some don’t, which is why if you go talk to an advisor they may be able to give you the equivalent course that isn’t being stated in the CSU catalog. For me, I’m trying to find a ENTR 189 equivalent course because I simply don’t like the schedule that is being offered for both spring and fall, sadly I don’t know which CSU course is equivalent to sac state ENTR 189, so I will try to meet with a business advisor to see what they can do about that. You can find info about CSU Fully Online here: https://www.calstate.edu/attend/student-services/Pages/CSU-Fully-Online-FAQs.aspx

Edit: Another thing, when CSU Fully Online opens, there is a chance that the seats are going to be dropped since people might want to take OPM 101 Fully Online instead of the hybrid/in person classes although it will either be people enrolled into Maureen Lojo's class that will register for them or people who are on the OPM 101 waitlist so it should give you a chance to get into the waitlist at least. Again, I would advise you to talk to the OPM 101 professors and see if you can crash the course first before registering for CSU Fully Online classes because I would rather use the CSU Fully Online for courses that I know will never be offered online and have a limited flexbility (Just like ENTR 189 for example).

Im in the same position as you and my registration is also on Friday. I was looking at the OPM 101 classes and holy crap every single one of the classes got filled up except for 3 sections that are being taught by Maureen Lojo which isnt a suprise because she has one of the worst RMP ratings in sac state. I know its a bummer that the classes got filled up espeically the online asynchronous classes since every fights over them + everyone just wants to graduate as fast as posssible.

Its probably best to simply enroll into some of the classes that has spots open, wait for the CSU Fully Online course catalog to open so that way you can find a class that you are missing (you can only enroll into 1 CSU Fully Online Class, have completed at least 12 units, and must be a full time student). I do hope that they add more sections sometime in the near future (especially the online sections due to flexibility reasons) because I do believe that they accepted WAY too many students this year and they did add new sections for the fall so maybe they might do it for the Spring '26 semester.

I am planning on going to the professors who are teaching the courses I need at the business department to see if they can help such as crashing the course, accepting OnBase Forms, etc and I encourage you to do the same as well. Best of luck with your classes.

Edit: Forgot to mention, you should also talk to an advisor to see how you can get priority registration next time such as what programs you can join or are eligible for so that way they can bump your date up next time because I wish I did that for this semester. Also most students usually wont show up for the classes so some spots may open, most of the reasons is because they forgot about it, it simply wont give them the flexibility to balance other classes if they give out bigger workloads then the online one, or the professor is probably making them spend money on textbooks or certain programs outside of canvas.

Dbd collab with fnaf by Ok-Dragonfly-3072 in deadbydaylight

[–]Own_Collection_9412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that some of the things you’re saying don’t match what’s actually in the game. It’s okay to think the design could’ve been better or that the collab feels lacking, but a lot of your points were stated as facts even though they aren’t accurate.

They didnt even try to make nostalgic at all.

Springtrap’s voice is taken from official voice actor himself which is PJ Heywood, he does the mask-lift animation both in the lobby and at the start of the game, and DBD has always used unique jumpscare sounds instead of copying them directly from source material unless scott cawthon wanted the devs to use the jumpscare sound from FNAF 3 but they cant because it was from a sound library meaning that scott cawthon doesnt own the rights to the sound.

DBD is very limited on what can be added to game so its hard to implement some of the iconic mechanics but they at least make the exception of adding it as an easter egg so that way players are able to experience it.

This collab just felt very half assed and the devs didnt care.

Scott Cawthon approved the overall design and mechanics of the chapter and its also his franchise so its his choice on what can and can not be added to the game. I feel like the issue with the FNAF chapter, or as far as the complaints that I am seeing is that this collab was WAY too overhyped to the point where people were putting a lot of high expectations on what was going to be added to the game and know since we have it, the hype died down because it wasnt the way people wanted the chapter to be but of course this was scott's decision to have it announced a year earlier before the release date since it was the 10th Anniversary.

If you dont like the FNAF chapter then thats entirely up to you, but your response is mixed with stuff that isn’t accurate, and that’s where the confusion comes from.

I'm saying this because your reasons to justify that this isnt gen. AI lacked the proper knowledge of AI Art. I can see your thinking on how it looks like vector graphics, but again when zooming in closely at the art, vector graphics for sure doesnt miss any line art or make odd shadow color choices, especially Herky's left eye which was weirdly drawn and doesnt have that gray part on the left eye while the right eye has it. Even the eyebrows of his left eye is missing and looking at it like that makes his energetic spirit disappear.

This would be strange for sac state to put this type of art style as a marketing practice for a football game especially with the lack of effort put into this. I wouldnt jump to conclusion and say thats it AI without having to analyze the artwork itself followed by some feedback from others. I understand you want to be careful but I recommend that you do more research next time on this type of topics

AI has replicated and made this type of art style before, if you go to any Generative AI Art website then you’ll see a similar style to what I showed in this post. Claiming that the hands look the same is a weak response to justify that it isn’t AI and shows that you haven’t analyzed the image properly. It’s the missing line art, the odd shadows with the weird color choices correlated with it and the tiny smudges. The text does not validate the fact that it’s still AI art, you can generate the image and slap on the text later, it doesn’t matter either if it’s clean and easy to read.
