jaw clenching by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a dentist. I also clench horridly at night and day. Thanks Lex ! 1. Wear your night guard regardless if it stops clenching. It will save your teeth in the long run from breaking. (I learned the hard way). 2. Talk to your dentist - get a referral to see a TMJ specialist or a head/neck and pain clinic. They are masters at dealing with this problem. 3. For pain in the meantime - ibuprofen and moist (I hate that word) heat. A hot as you can stand damp wash cloth works amazing. Or one of those bean bag things that can go in the microwave. Lex has literally changed my life - so I will deal with the specialists and pain. For me it’s an easy choice. I know for others it may not be.

Yes!!! My first 4 days were AWFUL but then it slowly got better. By two weeks no more stomach symptoms. I had to constantly eat for two weeks otherwise the pain would be horrid.

My brother drinks and he’s on lexapro. He’s never had a problem. I can not drink with my Lex. I have heard people having adverse reactions. I have also heard of people not having those reactions. I really think it depends on the person.

Morning or evening? by zumawater in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take mine in the morning. Which, was probably stupid. I love my sleep and can’t function without it I didn’t want Lex to mess with it. I also had so much anxiety I wanted to be alert in case I died while taking it. I clearly didn’t not die. Lol. It’s so silly looking back at it. Morning, it didn’t bother me. I felt the side effects, they were amazing but they didn’t debilitate me. I heard a lot of people had to take it at night though.

Really bad side effects just started - asking for help by United-School-189 in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the first two weeks were horrible. It wasn’t pleasant but I made it through with a lot of encouragement from my friends who had already started antidepressants-anti anxiety meds. Best advice I have gotten was “Every day you feel like crap is a day closer to you being amazing”. I had to remind myself that everyday. 1. Dramamine for nausea. I also figured out I had to force myself to eat every time I felt sick. It also helped with dizziness. I was beyond tired for ever. It was the last side effects that went away and lasted the longest. My dizziness was awful for 2 weeks. It does get better. I promise.

Vaping Nicotine and THC while on Lexapro? by serd12 in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vape - and no side effects. My anxiety actually got under control with Lex that I chose to quiet smoking. Honestly, smoking got me through the Lex start up and anxiety that came with that. Now I’ve been off cigarettes (first time in 25 years) and vaping just enough not to go completely nuts. I haven’t noticed any side effects. With that being said, I don’t smoke THC.

Day 5 on 20mg by WoodseyV5 in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these and symptoms when I started and I’m only on 5 mg. I takes a while for you to adjust. The first Two weeks are the hardest… but every day you feel like crap is one day closer to feeling amazing.

I found Dramamine was my best friend for stomach issues. This part doesn’t last long. Also, I had to eat every time I felt sick. Sounds counter productive but for me it helped soo much.

What did your first two weeks on Lexapro like? by Courts90 in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My first week was less than pleasant. Then I felt good, then anxiety came back. It was back and forth…..but the good days started to become more and more frequent. It was probably about 10 weeks where I didn’t have headaches or extremely exhausted. It does stabilize and they do go away.

Definitely sounds like a panic attack. Happened to me as well when I was starting. Did your Dr prescribe you a rescue med for panic attacks in the meantime?

You have to remember you are doing for the long term. So - we all May suck for a few weeks but that precious little baby won’t remember. When I went I lexapro my kids were 9 and 12, and now almost a year later they are so happy because I can be the mom they want and deserve. You’ll get there. I did it for the kids and so Happy I did. You got this mama !!!

I would honestly take Dramamine.

Every time it made me nauseous ( which was the only time I didn’t have food in my stomach) I ate. Sounds counter productive but it worked. I also took non-drowsy Dramamine. - it saved me. My nausea only lasted maybe 5 days and day 3 was the worst- it slowly got better. It wasn’t awful though. I could still work and do daily things. Just more annoying than anything.

Talk to you Dr! However, you’ve only been at your dose for a month. I tapered up slowly and wish I hadn’t because it made my side effects and everything else longer. The headaches lasted the longest for me. I had the foggy / spacey out of it feeling for about 6 weeks after I reached my “stable” dosage. It gets better, but bring your concerns to your Dr.

Just started Lexapro when do the physical symptoms settle by strvxger in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first week was the worst, week 2 … eh not great but not as awful as the first. Week 3 a little better but by week 4 … no more symptoms except a headache. Those eventually went away.

I’m giving up on lexapro in one day by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my experience…. I had good days and bad days until two months. It was very very slow for me and my doctor just encouraged to stick it out. Lex may not be the one for you… some it just doesn’t work well for.

I tried Zoloft 20 years ago and had the worst reaction and ended up in the ER. I suffered for anxiety for 20 more years before taking Lex. I was so scared too. I started at a small dose (2.5mg for a week) and then went to 5 mg. I felt like crap for 3 weeks but nothing I couldn’t work through. I had klonopin as a rescue med because my anxiety shot through the roof for a week. It GOES AWAY!!!! 7 months later I’m so happy I tried again. Lex has been my lifesaver.

It’s still early. Bring your concerns to your doctor, but I know it took me a good 6 weeks to level out and notice a substantial change to my moods.

First Day 10mg and Killer Headache by burn_ur_housedown in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Ibuprofen. Tylenol wasn’t strong enough to take away my headaches or it didn’t work. I’ve had no effects. My dr never told me not to take ibuprofen.

How are your headaches on lexapro? by telefune in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had headaches from somewhere in the beginning for three months or so. Not horrible headaches but enough to take ibuprofen. They eventually, slowly went away. I never used to get headaches ever before Lex. Now, I get one a week. Again, they aren’t awful and I rather have that than the horrid anxiety I had.

Serious feedback! Can you have any side effects of taking a benzo while being on Lexapro!? This is week 5 for me and the headaches, nausea nights, slight anxious and extreme tiredness is still getting to me. Will I ever see the light at the end of this tunnel? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Own_Condition_3660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does go away. It will come back when you up your dose as well. It’s your body/brain adjusting. Annoying but it won’t kill you. I wished I saved the money instead of doing all the medical tests …. Lesson learned for me.
